  1. Serving up a dose of reality here...no way FCS hangs with Trousdale unless the wet weather causes a multitude of turnovers for the Jackets. Jackets are truly that much better than the previous two years. I laugh at the "three peat" hopes that are commented on here by the FCS folks....if you want to review history, how many years in a row did the Jackets smack you down ??? hmmm...became an automatic "W" for quite some time I'd say. But, as cycles go, the Jackets had to reload for a couple of years while FCS continued to pillage the talent from Lebanon. Oh well, things get back to normal tomorrow night as Jackets prevail by 20!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  2. I just love this topic.....being an official myself I see the ignorance of the fans AND many, many coaches. Just to fire a shot back at you ref bashers, it amazes me how so few of you who have paid your $5-$7 to sit in the stands actually know and understand the rules of the game. Furthermore, so many coaches do not know the rules....it is simply amazing. Saturday/Sunday rules are sooooo different in many respects from the high school game, but you can't explain that to "Bubba, the official critic". We do miss calls from time to time, and may not call a penalty if it is not at the point of attack and has no impact on the play. You folks pay your money to watch the kids play, not to watch the refs throw flags on every play. When a call is made, I would say that 95-98% of the time it was there and is the correct call. With all of that said.....I sure am glad that the "rules" are not handed out with the tickets at the gate because everyone would be the expert then wouldn't they?
  3. To all of you naysayers who want to complain about running up the score I ask that you stop and think about something for a moment. Put yourself in the shoes of the freshman kid that has been pounded on day-in and day-out in practice all year long. He finally gets his chance to step on the field on Friday night and you expect him to just "take a knee"???? HELLO.....I for one am going to try my best every opportunity I get as a player. It is finally my time to shine and get some action like the big boys. I've taken my lumps and bruises all year and by golly I want to show my skills just like everybody else. If you can't stop this massive 110 pound frame then it is your fault. If the opposing coach has not agreed to letting the clock run then don't complain about the score that the freshman team is putting on you. They have put in the long hours of practice.....let 'em play!!!!!
  4. Friday night is a game with purity. it is not about the almighty dollar or scoring enough points on the opposition to enhance your status in some stupid comuter rankings. Your point about working Sat/Sun is flat wrong. Besides, where do you think those that do work on Sat/Sun got their start?
  5. Let's see...never heard of Trousdale County huh???? When it comes to high school football in Tennessee, no matter what classification, only those who belive Elvis is still alive are ignorant enough to say that "Trousdale County...never heard of them"???? They have only been in the playoffs 17 straight years...dating back to 1988. They were a double A powerhouse in the early 70's and beat Brentwood Academy in a thriller the latter 70's. The later portion of the 80's saw a great revitalization of the program. And the 90's....four state titles and you have never heard of them???? As the smallest school (by far) playing 3A ball star ting back in 2001, they made the semi-finals in 2001 and 2002. Lost to Knox Fulton by one in overtime...a terrific game. Now they are back in 1A with schools their size. To say you have never heard of Trousdale County and you consider yourself a high school football Jimmy-the-Greek....is really pretty funny
  6. Hey old man, just wanted to make sure you adjust your "time piece" to reflect Eastern Standard Time this week for your trip to Ohio. Since you are the timing expert I might also suggest a change of batteries. If you are not going to Ohio...why not help the folks at siegel repair their clock??? Shoud be a great game this week....good luck.
  7. This game will be well worth the money...easily the top game in the state. I'll give the very slight edge to Alcoa...in overtime.
  8. O.K. Mr. Idiot, let me give you a little lesson in "game timing" if you will. The clock malfunctioned near the end of the third quarter and yes, the field cord snapped...ask anyone on the Siegel sideline. However, the clock can be run from the pressbox and therefore reset in the pressbox. By rule, if there is a clock official present (which there was) it is to be kept manually on the field. If not, then it can be run in the press box. So your little timing accusation is well...just plain stupid. And for this analysis, Riverdale scored more than one point per minute compared to Siegel's 0 points per minute up until the field goal. So you tell me what person in their right mind is going to "extend" a game under these conditions??? Not to mention that it was hotter than hades. Far fetched????? Nope, just the facts plain and simple. I have never seen people supporting a team that won by 47 points be so argumentitive about trivial things. If you keep focusing on how many first downs siegel had or the fact that you had three points scored on your vaunted defense, you are going to get smacked in the face cause you aren't looking forward......it may just happen in Ohio. And another thing, before you go ranting and accusing...do everyone a favor and get a copy of the rulebook and actually learn the rules and procedures....it might very well open your eyes.
  9. ...and let me guess....you have worn the stripes how many times???? The cord to the clock broke close to the end of the third qtr, and by rule had to be kept on the field from that point on. Apparently a coach had stepped on the cord as the clock operator pulled it and it snapped. As for refs "helping" Seigal score..I think is totally ridiculous since I am quite sure they wanted to get out of the heat ASAP. The heat was almost unbearable on the field. That is why the fourth quarter took a little longer because the refs gave two heat breaks due to players cramping. So take your little pride and stick it Pops....you got three points scored on you...wow! Your turn will come soon enough. Riverdale is loaded with talent today, but just ask Oakland what can happen to a program when a new school invades that talent pool.
