  1. great matchup tomorrow (Tues.) night with Shelbyville playing Franklin Co. I know F.C. is continuing to improve but not sure they want to play the Eaglettes after their loss on Friday. Coffee Co. vs. Lawrence Co. is another of interest. If home teams win out the rest of the season there could be a 3-way tie 3-5th place.
  2. Yeah we've seen supa scout. Box scores don't lie and they are dead on bro. My facts are straight and you can point and click yourself into a box score frenzie and see for yourself. All your posts players faced was a simple double down deuce. BTW good luck in your games next week. See ya roun' town.
  3. Coach Sharp has indicated to me in a conversation last week that he wants to switch to the Jr. High girls from the boys next year
  4. Ahhhhhh. I seeeeee. You are a big J fan........ NO MORE SOUP FOR YOU Can't and won't go there nice try though btw she should have had 40 and 25 rebounds
  5. Okay heeeer's your sign 7 points (with someone in her face all night), 5 assists, 6 rebounds, 2 blocked shots. pretty darn good huh?
  6. hey mac you are wrong dude. She can play and stick it she did it last night with hands in her face all night. She's good enough to sign D-1. No team we've played yet has tried to shut down the post. Shelbyville for sure wasn't trying to last night. If you are talking about round 3 being the district tournament final, there's alot of b'ball before then I ain't about to claim we'll be there yet. Too many games to play before then.
  7. I had no idea Coffee Co. only had 2 district wins. sounds like the system needs revamping. Where R U redlady?
  8. Well things got real interesting in the district tonight. I hope someone can give us the current standings now. Columbia didn't play as well as the previous 2 games but played well enough to win a close one in the grill. Lampley had 12 and made a big difference but scoring was balanced. The Lady Lions worked inside well and mixed the 3 in with balance. For 3 games now teams have tried to stop Alex Ross and it has backfired allowing different players each game to step up and take up the slack. Obviously the big girl transfer for Shelbyville wasn't as composed tonight as she was in the first game. I saw several cheap shots at players during the game and a very unsportsmanlike diss of Coach Moore after the game. Oh well you wouldn't expect any less. Tonight will make the next matchup a hot one. the only one that really matters is the last one whenever that is.
  9. okay I'll do it. who is Culleoka? Just kidding I do think they will win by 5 Coach Sharp is working hard. Girls are too. go culle
  10. Hey pure water dude, check out this http://www.columbialadylions.com/Stats/060110.htm Heeer's your sign, stats don't lie. Can't say the ball ain't goin in to the post position. You know the players.... the posts took fair share of the shots. They just weren't fallin and poor rebounding. Some posts shot could have been called for fouls maybe but we don't blame the refs. The situation will reverse itself for sure so stay tuned!
  11. Okay okay, can't let this one go.... If you don't mean to step on toes then don't. Bottom line...great bunch of girls...(Maybe even not mean enough sometimes). BUT they know what to do. Yeah layed down last night but no one knows it more than them. Nobody can fault a coach for one game good grief you sound like those Kentucky people on the radio last night. IT ain't like Columbia has been top dog at the show for the last 20 years I believe that honor resides in Bedford Co. But that is one thing that comes with fair weather fans at the first little sign of something they don't like. We'll take the chances with what we got come FEB. And for Pete's sake get off the Armstrong thing everybody knows that deal that needs to know if and if you think she transferred because she wanted to that's okay and Santa will see you next Christmas. 3 schools and 4 years makes that clear. It ain't about coaching it is all about heart and determination and wanting it bad enough.

    8-AAA

Things got interesting after last night. 1. Columbia 3-1 1. Shelbyville 3-1 Then a host at 2-2 Coffee, Lawrence, Lincoln, and Franklin Counties. this could be the best district race in the state and last the whole season. Columbia played very well against a vastly improved Franklin Co. team last night. Are there any injury updates throught out the district? I know Shelbyville hasn't been able to get Jarrell and Armstrong on the floor at the same time yet. Armstrong played last night but Jarrell was out again. Lampley was released Thursday and should return within a week to 10 days for Columbia. I think if Carol can stay healthy, combined with the vast improvement of the Lady Lions bench in her absence.. that it will be very interesting in the second meetings of some of the games the Lady Lions played in early after Carol's injury. Anybody else?
  13. Don't count on Armstrong getting 30 she has mysteriously been missing from the last 2 games box scores. Word is she has some kinda heart trouble. Jarrell is back and doing well. Lincoln Co is the biggest disappointment so far in the district. They were picked by some to win the district. I think you are right and 5-6 points probably will be the margin but not sure Armstrong has anything to do with it. Don't know if she'll play or not yet.
  14. Been readin the thread...pretty even across the board. You can't blame coaching alone and yes the players out there have needed someone to light a fire under them. (I'm not sure there are enough dedicated basketball players in the high school ages to do anything in the next year or so. That's why i think a new guy needs to be hired for jr. High and start in the 5th or 6th grade and then work his way up with them. Most coach's won't want to do that though) I think as far as Thursday's game, there may be enough of a spark from Coach Sharp that you might see Culle sneak out a close win. Has he had much time in the gym with the girls since he took over? I wish them all good luck.
  15. There are some really great players in this tournament.. The team that Columbia plays on Thursday sports the #1 ranked Jr. in Delaware and Uconn is all over her according to the locals. Columbia plays the host team and sellouts are common. On Tuesday they would only let 1 in when 1 left the building. And that Ellena Donne is awsome. This is a great atmosphere (hostile) and should help the Lady Lions in preparing for the last 2/3's of the season. Hope all is well back home in Tennessee. We have some pics and updates on the website now. www.columbialadylions.com
  16. Obvioulsy I don't know as much as you... maybe you need to be the coach... if you are that good to have notes that far back. I do remember going to the post season tournament at Chapel Hill with the boys and girls during that period and I do know Coach Parrot had good teams. I'm hoping whatever it is under your saddle melts away and you have a better day tomorrow than you had today. There are already a couple of people interested in the job a Culle so get your resume together and get on the prospect list. Later tater I'm done
  17. Good luck coach Sharp and the rest of the team. RHS.. why r u so tore up anyway go back to Richland The jr High team did well that season at Chapel Hill also I do know what I'm talking about I didn't miss a game.
  18. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't that group get runner up to CA when the seniors were 8th graders ( I know it is Jr. high but they were successful) and the Jrs. this year won the Jr. High district and tournament the following year. So yes there is a coach out there that could get it out of them and she won a couple of other jr. high titles earlier. Maybe their answer when Coach Eady left was under their nose all the time. Coach Eady's only problem was he wanted to be the girls friend in addition to being their coach and that just don't work when you are the head coach. It was fine for him when he was Coach Harlow's assistant. I think some one can make a go of the situation at Culleoka but they will have to start way down in the elementary school now cause it is shot unless some of the girls come back that had quit.
  19. I understood your post and agree but other posters are a little offended when some schools make plans up to a year in advance and try to do things for the players that make it a "family atmosphere". Those things tend to bond players also and that also helps when crunch time comes around in Feb.
  20. Crabtree was the middle school coach also. The right person in that job would have a blast coaching but for now they'd have to be patient. With the rezoning of the school districts when the expanded the building, they should get several more athletes to build a program with. I think the total was around 230 kids new next year K-12 so early on I doubt any of those would be High schoolers cause they can go out of zone to the existing school for 3 years. The new guy needs to go down into elementary school and get an AAU program going and down the road it would be great. The boys are proof of what can be done with a coach that know what's going on. I'm not talkin about just Slatten cause Murrell took very littly talent and won. The girls could do the same but they have to want it. (and have a coach that can get it out of them)
  21. Booster and parent money is an important factor in all high school sports. The invitational tournament was a choice and the girls worked hard to fund their trip. It took a year to get it done. Flying again was a choice but also their choice. Once again they stepped up and helped to fund that. Don't knock the desire to do something for the girls in addition to going to a city they may not ever get to visit again. Yes they are going to win basketball games but there are other things they'll do that they will remember for the rest of their life. We feel great for the girls that get to do these tournaments and great for the ones that get to play locally also.
  22. I was going to say that if you weren't dreaming about China, that you'd better be careful or she'd wind up at you know where.
  23. I am stupid I did know that I think I meant Gatewood but I think she just quit the team up there on the hill so I guess that is who I was thinking of. The Lady Lions also might try a train ride from New York on Wed when we don't play to go to Philadelphia and watch the Lady Vols play Temple. Hopefully a trip for the girls to remember. We play on Tues. Thurs. and Friday irregardless of wins or losses.
  24. Yes, the Lady Lions leave for Delaware the day after Christmas. They play a team out of Texas in the first game who has won the large school state championship 2-3 times in the last 4-5 years. Can't find out much more about them. If Columbia wins, they will most likely face Narbone California, (can you say Candice Parker). Also the other bracket has a team from Florida with the number one recruited senior in the country. They will get a trip into New York City and Washington D.C. while there also so it should be educational also. 3/4 of the team has never flown before. Probably need to have the videos running on that first step onto the plane. We'll keep the website updated while there. www.columbialadylions.com please pray for our safe travel and hopeful no injuries.
