  1. Riverdale (10-11 overall, 3-6 in District 7AAA) travels to rival Blackman (7-12 overall, 5-5 in District 7AAA) on Tuesday night. Will Blackman continue to win key district games coming down the home stretch of district play? How will Riverdale come out after beating up on Warren County? Should be a great game between two heated rivals. A reminder, if you cannot attend the game, be sure and check out all of the action online at www.blackmanblazeonline.com, where Russ Luna and myself will bring you all of the action live from Blackman High School.
  2. The game you guys were talking about took place in 2001-2002, and Giles won like 101-61. Several instances occured where the game had to be stopped and some parents did indeed get into some arguments. Nothing like a good old fashioned country "rivalry".
  3. I was beginning to wonder if they were going to rename this district "Giles County and the rest..." When was the last time this region was really competitive top to bottom? Marshall County was very good in 2001-2002, and Giles rattled off 40 something straight district wins until last Friday. Maybe I've just got spoiled watching this 7AAA basketball here in Murfreesboro?
  4. Good recap PageMan. Were you doing a little scouting for the upcoming Giles County/Page contest? Even though Giles County doesn't have the stars they've had in the past, they still are a pretty good ball club. They are the region champs for the past three years and will be tough to knock off come tourney time!
  5. Hats off tonight to this talented Siegel bunch. They played very well tonight. Blackman had no real answer for Jones or Ramsey (except for drawing one or two charges). Blackman's offensive attack was spearheaded by Brett Ford, who had the type of game that he needed to have to get Blackman the win. The only problem was...no one else on Blackman showed up tonight. Bragg was the leading scorer and he stayed out of foul trouble this game, but the offensive production wasn't there for Blackman last night. Again, I would like to thank all of the listeners to the Blackman Blaze Sports Network--you can catch all of the action Tuesday against Cookeville @ 6:20, although we encourage everyone to come out and watch the game in person first!
  6. It will be an interesting game to say the least Friday @ Siegel. I wish both teams best of luck and hope it is a clean and well contested matchup. Be sure and catch ALL of the action friday with myself and Russell Luna on the Blackman Blaze Sports Network (www.blackmanblazeonline.com).
  7. It will be a tough game for Blackman to win, especially on the road, but do not completely forget about the Blaze, who are coming off an impressive performance against Warren County last night.
  8. I had the pleasure of broadcasting this game last night and man was Blackman hot. Brett Ford and David Barnes shot the lights out, especially Ford. Career-high I would imagine for him. Blake Bragg was phenomenal on the glass, and Barnsie got his usual 15+. Dallas hit some big FT's down the stretch to potentially ice this ball game. Hat's off all the way to White Co. Russell and myself had the chance to speak to their radio crew after the game and they were great. 2priceless, glad you got to listen to the broadcast the other night against Oakland. 9. What a win for Giles County. First home win of the season comes on senior night. Way to go class of 2006.

    BGA@Giles CO.

Giles County needs to win this game for sure.
  11. I say LCHS opens up around +7, but you cannot count Giles County out of this game, ever. They have not won a home Cowbell Game since 2001, you had better believe they will come out hungry tomorrow night. Key of the game will be how quickly those big guys from LCHS wear down and tire due to chasing the GCHS ballcarriers in that new look Spread offense. I say Giles County wins by a touchdown, but what do I know?
  12. It was a decent game on both sides of the ball. You could clearly tell that both teams were playing their first game, as both teams showed lots of rust. Mt. Pleasant was scoring a pretty rapid pace, and Giles County was trading blows with them early on, but just could not execute the little things down the stretch. The big play for Mt. Pleasant was the fake punt that got them a new set of downs, which they then went on to score off of. I'm not sure I could have called a fake punt in a tight game at home with the ball on my own 15 or so yard line, but maybe their coaches saw something I didn't. Big play of the night for GCHS without question was the 60+ yard scramble by Myles to the end zone. Faked the draw and kept the ball right up the gut where he went basically untouched to the endzone. Pretty good week 0 game, I'm ready to see some Murfreesboro football action in the coming weeks as I'm moving up to MTSU this Friday.
  13. Not sure what you mean by this statement, but over the past 3 years, Giles County has only had one player playing football that also played basketball.
  14. The Bobcats will be better than most people think. Although I personally have never seen a Giles County team that did not feature Smith, I would imagine that this young and energetic team will be pretty decent in the region and should repeat in the district. Keep in mind, the year Giles County won state their feeder middle school, Bridgeforth won the James C. Haile Invitational Tournament. Those players are now juniors and sophomores and should be looking to impress Coach Holt for playing time! I think what they lack in talent this year they will make up for in DISCIPLINE (yes who knew a Giles County team would have it) and DETERMINATION! Go Cats!
  15. You can outplay someone and still not score a goal, my friend, and Giles County did just that the last 20 or so minutes of the game (after the equalizer), and ALL of the overtimes. ZCA looked dead, but they didn't give up a goal, I guess that's why they won the game.
  16. CA should wax the floor with Zion, yet again. Giles County came out flat, picked it up, netted a goal and outplayed Zion the last 20 minutes of the game (and then outplayed them all 30 minutes of overtime). I hate shootouts for this reason. After 130 minutes of knockdown-dragout soccer a team must decide who wins the game by taking 5 PK's. What a joke. Let it be like NHL where you play regular length periods and just play until a goal is scored. Anywho, good luck to both Zion and CA in the region finals/substate.
  17. Zion won 1-1 (4-3) via shootout. Those goals don't count towards the overall score, I don't think (they don't in international (WORLD CUP) play, anyway). It was such a hard fought game, a utter shame either team had to lose.
  18. Giles County and ZCA will do battle tonight in Pulaski for the right to take on Columbia Academy. ZCA lost this matchup earlier in the season 3-1 (in Pulaski). I can't go against Giles County, they are playing excellent ball this season, and their only two losses have come to Lawrence County and Franklin County (two AAA squads). Anyone from ZCA coming down to watch the game? Or will it be an all-Giles County crowd? I'll be there, and I know I will be excited!

    Region 5-AA

I am coming to the game, unless something happens with my grandfather (who is in critical condition). I'm not so sure that Petty will pitch, however, but he may. Corey Pierce is our #1 pitcher, and he hasn't pitched since the Page game last Wednesday night. It will be interesting, however, because if Pierce is having an off game and the game is still somewhat close, I would think Coach Cardin would sacrifice the game on Wednesday (for home field advantage on Friday) to make SURE that there IS a Friday game by bringing in Petty in relief (or vice versa depending on who starts). I should see you at the game, and I hope Giles County can pull off the big victory. After tomorrow night only 16 teams in each classification will remain! GO BOBCATS! Still no word on who hosts the game Wednesday if Sycamore and Giles County both advance?

    Region 5-AA

Well they may not have a SUPERSTAR but they have two of the best pitchers in District 9AA in Pierce and Petty (the district MVP). If Sycamore beats Loretto tomorrow night and Giles County beats Harpeth, where would Sycamore/Giles County play? What is the standard procedure for this type of situation where the two #2 seeds advance to the regional finals?
  21. Loretto should be good to go then. They saw two games back to back versus Giles County's knuckleballer last Thursday night.
  22. Most likely. Our boys soccer team plays here Monday versus Zion Academy, not sure which game I'm going to watch. If I do, I will have my boom box and student section ready to rock and roll. KANSAS CITY HERE WE COME! More like... Well GCHS baseball going to Harpeth......SWEET HARPETH HERE WE COME!
  23. Oh ok, I was thinking they played Marshall County Monday, but forgot they played us Monday. Bertier you sure about this?!? LOL you are all doped up on those meds from your teeth I bet.
  24. I would hope not! They already have made region and he's pitched what? 18 innings in like 4 days?
