  1. Didn't take coach Mac very long to get his first win as a head coach back in Tennessee again. Congratulations!
  2. I was told that the MC and CW first teams tied Friday night with 4 scores each and the CW 2nd team beat MC seconds 2-1. I have no idea how good CW is, so I don't know what that says about MC. I hope they are ready for WC by Friday.
  3. If high school sports are all about the kids, then why move games a day earlier and cost players a day of practice before a big game just to satisfy adults that could record the ut game? It's not that hard to tape/DVR a game and watch it after the high school game. I can't see any high school coach agreeing to this. If so-called high school fans stay at home to watch the ut game, not even a conference game, then that is their choice. Maybe they weren't that dedicated to high school football after all.
  4. I might understand teams near Knoxville moving games to avoid competing against ut on Friday night, but here in middle TN, 200 miles away, I just don't get it.
  5. Why in the world is Moore County and Eagleville playing a Thursday night ball game on August 30th? I heard it might be because of a team in Knoxville playing on Friday. Please don't tell me it has anything to do with ut playing a Friday night game. If that's the case, how many fans do they really think they would lose to the ut game?
  6. How long have you been employed by T$$AA? I bet the other states don't pay a thousand dollars a year for membership either. T$$AA has to make a lot of money when you consider all the play-offs for all sports.
  7. I don't think T$$AA knows how to fine tune. It seems like they try to re-invent the wheel about every three or four years. I think that they are mostly worried about how to make more money.
  8. As far as travel and history is concerned I would say ....Region 6: Collinwood, Columbia Acad., Cornersville, Eagleville, Mt. Pleasant, Perry Co., Richland, Summertown, Wayne Co. MC has played most of these teams for years. I don't think anyone wants to travel over the mountain and into a different time zone every other week. Some of the region 6 games might be as far away, but at least in the same time zone. I'm sure that other regions are messed up too.
  9. Sometimes you just have to wonder what the folks at T$$AA are smoking. In their most recent proposal to change back to 5 classifications they have the regions for 1A football all acrewed up. Moore County would be moved to region 3 which means all of their region games except one would be on the other side of Mount Eagle mountain, some in the eastern time zone. Here is the link if you haven't seen it. http://www.tennessean.com/article/20120613/SPORTS07/306130136/2072/SPORTS
  10. Congratulations to the young ladies and coaches from Moore County on a great year. It looks like you have a bright future ahead of you for the next several years. Keep working hard.
  11. MC ladies lost today by 12-9 score I think. MC defense made several mistakes, both mental and physical. The other team hit the ball fairly well most of the game. MC did hit late in the game, but it was too little too late.
  12. As far as what was said behind the plate, who really knows. I'm pretty sure that the catcher calls what the coach tells her to call. If you would have been at the fling in the boro, you would have seen photographer boxes painted on each side of the field. The catcher was run over, but she was standing in the base line maybe 6-8 ft from the plate. If she didn't have the ball, that is obstruction. When the play was over the ball was on the ground near her head, I'm not sure how it got there. I hated to see the collision, but I'm not sure it was a bad call.
  13. Would you like some cheese with that whine? Losers always want to blame someone else other than themselves. (yes I am a MC fan)
  14. MC Ladies lost their first game 2-0. Both runs were unearned I think. MC had runners in scoring position a few times, but couldn't get the hits to push them across the plate.
  15. I remember that group of girls. They had all played slow pitch for several years before fast pitch got started. I didn't know how far they went that year. I guess that means it's been 20 years. Good luck to the Moore County ladies and coaches.
  16. Tullahoma News had an small article on Sunday.
  17. Does anyone know how long it's been (if ever) since a MC softball or baseball team has been to the fling?
  18. Good luck to Coach Mac from an old Moore County friend. I hope you do well there on the other side of the mountain and pull off a few upsets.
  19. Thanks. You may be correct about sending Tullahoma News and some of the other local papers an email. As far the brackets, no one knew that until yesterday.
  20. Like most of the article, they are trying to make it sound like Forrest lost the game instead of getting beaten, maybe making it seem like a couple of seniors played for MC sounded better. MC does not have a senior starter on the team. A couple of 11th graders, maybe two 10th graders, the rest are 8th and 9th graders I think. They start 5 8th graders including the pitcher, catcher, left fielder, 2nd base, and right fielder. By the way when Forrest had 2 runners thrown out on the same play in the region championship game, I think the throw came in from the right fielder (8th grade), to the catcher (8th grade) who then threw the other runner out at third (10th grader). Like I said before, richlandraiderdad, not a bad sofball season for a basketball school. I hope MC wins the state, but no matter how they finish, they have already exceeded almost everyone's expections except the players and coaches.
  21. Congratulations to the MC ladies and coaches on another huge win, this time over Collinwood. Way to go. See you in the Boro next Tuesday.
  22. Congrats on a huge win and a well played game to the MC ladies and the coaching staff.

Not a bad softball season so far for a basketball school.

Maybe hunt snipe?... I have seen some MC games this year and they have tried to bunt several times, some successful and some not. Maybe a bunt would have worked and maybe not. Were the odds better, I don’t know. You would think with the third, fourth, and fifth batters hitting with no outs you would have a decent chance of scoring one or both runners anyway. If they had bunted the 5th batter with one out and Cascade did concede 1st while holding the runner on third, then what do you do? You still have to have hit the ball out of the infield or walk to score a run and Cascade has a force out at home. I didn’t see the game but I have coached in the past and I know that if you try to listen to all the parents coaching from the stands, you would be in trouble. I know that the MC staff and players have done well enough to finish 2nd in the district while starting 4 or 5 eighth grade players most of the year. By the way, I saw the Forrest game when MC beat them by several runs and Forrest stranded several players at second and third and with bases loaded that night as well. So I guess it happens to everyone.
