I'm very sorry to hear this. I have known him for many years. He was a good man and gave a lot to sports in this area for a long time.

Congratulations to Coach Austin. I think he will be a very good head coach, I know that he is a great young man.

I hope Fayetteville beats SP, not because I really care who wins, I just want to see if the SP fans whine and complain as much after a loss as they do after a win.

Didn't he coach at Franklin County a few years ago. If so, he didn't do very well there.

If MC plays as well as they are capable of playing, then they should win. If they play as bad as they have in a few games Community could make it an interesting game. That being said, I pick MC.

I hope MC can get a much needed win tonight, but homecoming week might be one more distraction they don't need.

I hope MC wins, but who knows which MC team will show up; the one that scored 88 points in 2 games or the one that has scored 6 points in the last 4 games. No one blocked or tackled much last week. Cascade was the better team and even if MC had played well they might have lost but not by such a wide margin.

Unless I'm mistaken, MC is still ranked....just not very high. I was afraid that the #1 ranking would hurt MC, but I think it hurt more than I thought it would.

Congratulations to MC on a much needed win. It wasn't high scoring and at times it wasn't pretty, but a win's a win. Hopefully, the offense can start putting up a few more points and MC can get back on track. I don't know that it made any difference in the final score, but the officials were not very good.

Coach, some of your posts might be a little overly dramatic. I don't think losing 2 or 3 games is going to bring out mobs with pitch forks and for sale signs. I know that some of the head coaches in the years before you(within the last 10 or 15 years) had much worse records and they stayed around for a while.

I have been wrong before, but I believe MC rights the ship this week and wins over Fayetteville City. Maybe not by a lot, but a win is a win.....

Exactly where in my post did I say WC didn't look good? Someone had said earlier that maybe MC overlooked WC for Fayetteville. I just said MC can't block or tackle, if you interpret that as me saying WC is not good, then either I can't type or you can't comprehend what you read. But if you think that we didn't help WC win that game, then we must have been watching two different games. We didn't block anyone all night and missed a heap of tackles. Look at the film.

If they were overlooking Wayne County, then they must have been overlooking Forrest too. I think some of the players might have thought MC was better than they really were because of the AP poll, but I don't think most of the coaches thought like that. The bottom line is that the first two teams MC played were not very good. It's going to be hard to score points if MC can't block on offense and tackle on defense. We have to have to wrap up on tackles. The coaches usually have the defense in position to make plays, but for some reason the players think that runners will just fall down when we bump into them. It's without a doubt "Gut Check time" for MC. Maybe we will improve after we drop out of the AP poll this week.

MC gets a win over WC. The game against Forrest may have been MC's most unproductive game on offense in recent years. I don't think that will happen again this week. I wouldn't say Forrest dominated the game. They had the short side of the field all night due to fumbles, interceptions, and turnovers on downs and still only scored 3 td's and a field goal. I think Forrest only had one long drive. Forrest is good but not great.

When I saw the #1 ranking last Monday, I knew it was not going to be good for the raiders. I maybe wrong, but I think too many MC kids came into the game last night thinking about how good they were.

Like I said, MC would have to play without a lot of mistakes and they didn't. I think there were two turnovers in the game and MC lost them both. We gave Forrest the short field too many times to have a chance to win. I have to give Forrest credit, they played a tough game, controlled the pace and line of scrimmage most of the night.

I hope that Moore County wins, but it won't be easy. MC will have to play almost mistake free football on both sides of the ball.

I'm not sure about MC being awesome this year. I guess time will tell how good they are. They did look better on both offense and defense last week than they did the week before against Richland.

I agree that it is way to early to even have a poll. The only poll that ever really means anything is the one at the end of the year after all games have been played.

For the most part, MC played well on both sides of the ball. Congratulations on a well deserved win. Enjoy the win and then get ready for another tough game on the schedule next week.
