I would agree with the underestimation of JCS, and here's why. Check the stats. JCS has a legitmate quarterback in MacDonald. The kid can flat throw the ball. Regular season - 85 of 128 for 1,263 yds, 16 TDs, 4 picks. 66% completion rate, 14.9 yds per completion. Hayes for McKenzie puts up Playstation numbers, but his completion rate is 62%, with an average yards per completion of 17. MacDonald's not that far behind Hayes
They've also got their top RB from last year back, Ragin, but he's been overshadowed by Nick Melton this year, who piled up 1,275 yds in the regular season, 14 TDs, and an average yards per carry of 10.8. The only player who had a higher average yards per carry was Buckley with Lexington who had an average of 11.1.
Special Teams - Philpot for JCS, 0 for 1 on FGs, which speaks volumes to the power of the JCS offense, only attempting one FG on the year, 38 of 42 on XP during the regular season. McKenzie has an outstanding kicker in Laughery, but he was only 5 of 12 on FG, 30 of 39 on XP.
Bottom Line. I think JCS wins, and I think it sets up a great game against JCS/UC in the third round, although I don't think UC should take FA lightly. That may be a close game.
