  1. Who really cares after what he did to JCM and Gibson County? IMO, good ridance!!!
  2. Madison loses 5 seniors...four of them were starters and were the heart of the team. But Madison will re-load and be strong again next year. They have several juniors that will step-up and take their leadership positions.
  3. JCS beat us (Madison) twice this year. Once in regular season, 3-1. And in the Sectionals, 1-0. They have a strong defense and don't believe that they are not large in size. The defense has very strong physiques and good sized. They either "boot" the ball very high back down the field or they kick it out...there is no passing from that end. The offense is extremely quick, with the main weapons being Shelley Carter and Maggie Hearn. Don't over look freshman, Sarah Johnson....the girl's got speed! They are a very good team but don't know how well they will be able to control ND. It will be interesting to hear how the game comes out. USJ is a very strong team in athleticism, discipline and fundamentals. They beat us 1-0 in the regular season and I was extremely impressed with their passing and knowledge of the game. They have awesome leadership with Katie Hayes and Hamilton, both off and on the field. Both of their keepers are exceptional. I feel they have the ability to go all the way this year. Good luck to both of the Jackson teams. Make this end of the state proud!!! Do you know if the games are going to be broadcasted on any radio stations?
  4. oknative, I have a question for you about a call that was made in our Sectional, Saturday night. I have never seen this in the four years that my daughter has played and want your take. There was a penalty called that gave one of the teams an indirect kick. Defense set up with a wall. One player walked up to the ball within 3 feet and was turning around when the center official without saying anything, blew his whistle and gave the player a yellow card and said that she was delaying the game. Neither team was set to go and no warnings given. This was within 3 minutes of the start of the game. As I have already said, I have never seen this before and wanted your imput. It sure set up an awkward feel for the rest of the game...even though the kick was wide and point missed.
  5. Speaking from experience down here in the West: USJ,JCS and Madison are all very close in abilities and level of athletes. The first two are from the private sector and looking at recent history, have made it on to state a higher number of times. My opinion for what it's worth, is that they do have an advantage over Madison. Most of these girls have been playing together since they were in kindergarten and also play club ball together. Madison's girls are a team that came together starting in 9th grade. Before then, my daughter had only played with two out of the 18 girls on the squad and that was during elementary school. Their team has girls that came from four to five different middle schools. They knew each other from competing against each other. Coming together as a team, takes time and great leadership. Then there is also the issue of coaching staffs. Both USJ and JCS have had the same coaches for years and Madison has had three different coaches during my daugher's four years of play. Madison had a great season with only four losses and one tie. Those losses and tie were all to the private sector, three being ranked and all going to state and the tie to a D2 school. Another observation that I have made was that all four of these teams had a deep bench for the ease of subs, where as most of the public school teams we played were like us and lucky to have 5-7 girls on the bench. You have a couple of injuries and you're down to 3-5. I'm not complaining, just stating the obvious. But I would hate to see the Publics and Privates split. Our best, most competitive games have been with the Privates. You only get better and learn when you play at a higher level. Madison may be out for this year but don't ever count us out for next year or take us lightly because we are Public. We will compete to the end!!! I am proud of our girls this season and the way they played last night! I also want to wish USJ and JCS the best of luck at State! Make this end of the state and the city of Jackson Proud!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Liberty over Bolton, 1-0 in overtime
  9. Madison's home field has been an old football field that is in pretty bad shape and we didn't have the money to fix it up. We worked with the City of Jackson's Park Dept. and secured one of their soccer fields. It is in immaculate condition. It has restrooms, lights and bleachers and plenty of parking. Even, great turf and irrigation. And best of all...the city does all of the upkeep on it! We get to run the gate but decided against using their concession stand because we would have to give them 25% of the sales (and that's pretty much all of the profit). There are solutions if you just look around and ASK. On the point scale: 21
  10. I tend to disagree somewhat. There have been several good articles on JCS and as of today, they had a nice one on Madison. They have also named "Players of the week" from USJ, JCS and Madison. I would like to have seen more coverage on Liberty and the fact that they are playing in the Regionals for the first time...with their move up to AAA. Overall, I am very pleased with the Jackson Sun. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  11. From my "limited" understanding and the explanation that I have been given over the last four years of my daughter's play at Madison: West Tenn. has many areas that do not have the interest or the coaching/money to field a team. Region 8 is made up of District 15 & District 16. District 16 only has one school that has a team (and actually this is there first year) and they were rolled in to our tournament. So in essence, this was our District and Regional rolled into one. We will play our Championship on Monday. First will play Region 7s 2nd place and our 2nd will play there first. Basically, we play two less tournament games than the rest of the state, but there's nothing else that can be done. You can't play a team that doesn't exist??? Soccer is slowly catching on in West TN., but for the most part, the talent is still coming out of Jackson...USJ, JCS and Madison. I hope this explanation helps???
