  1. by warhawks » Thu Nov 19, 2009 3:23 pm CAK had another great season and should be very proud! Your kind words are well received. It feels strange not getting ready for a Friday night game. Oh well, looks like I'm heading to Blount County again this week. Good luck to you guys for the rest of the season and I pray all the players can play injury free. Oh, goodie! More band burgers will be sold! Thanks for your support!
  2. I have a feeling we know each other, just don't know exactly who we are! (does that even make sense?) You can find me at the band concession stand before the game, getting the condiments ready! I think Loudon will put up a fight; they are a good football team. They just won't be able to withstand another F5!
  3. footballmomtn:I wonder where all the football dad's are??? LOL As far as I'm aware, some of our "male counterparts" have made a comment or 2; I think you, fiftiesh, and myself are the only moms that have commented. The guys are probably busy watching more football...don't worry, they'll be on here soon enough! I suspect this thread is going to get pretty busy in the next couple of days! BLOW 'EM AWAY, BIG A!
  4. Tornado74: Yes, the Sudderth sisters know they're traditions, don't they? You need to know anything about Alcoa football, they're the ones you go to!
  5. That was an awesome sight, wasn't it? (The blimp, I mean!) Having the blimp fly over your house was incredible.
  6. Thanks for the correction...misspellings are a big pet peeve. (I get peeved off a lot on this site!)
  7. Fiftyish: I realize that you aren't an Alcoa alum, but could you please use the official spelling of Tornadoes? I know that you are a huge supporter of the football program, and I really appreciate you & your husband's support of the football program.
  8. I've gotta say this: I admire the CAK fans for not coming on here complaining about the hand they were dealt. Assuming both CAK & Alcoa win their first round games, here we'll be meeting again in the 2nd round, #1 against #5. Doesn't make a lot of sense, but watcha gonna do?
  9. No pot stirring this year, please. Next year is fine, just not this year!
  10. With the flu at Alcoa and the new clock running rule in the second half there's no way that Alcoa puts up 60 points. Alcoa 47 Loudon 7 That, plus the fact that Rankin has only allowed Alcoa to make more than 50 points a handful of times. The game is still on for Friday; I think the flu has already run its course through the f'ball team.
  11. When did that happen? If it was after the game, my guess would be that they were doing crowd control, protecting the kids from getting hurt and trying to make sure no fights occurred. If it was before the game, they didn't need to be on the field anyway. There were way too many people there to let the kids on the field when the players were getting ready to come out. I will say this: Murvul showed class in their loss. I may not be a Murvul fan, but I'm definitely a Quarles fan.
  12. Agreed, however, I don't know if Jaron's size will keep him from getting looks. Opinions?
  13. I would like to know this, too. I didn't get to see much of the game due to working concessions. Anyone out there know???
  14. Pepvol: Are you freakin' serious??? The guy can't post anything nice about Alcoa without throwing in a negative. Example: On the Class AAA boards he wrote: "you got the goods this year and deserve to enjoy your big win. Now it is on to the normal cake save for Fulton." "They would’nt beat Alcoa later in the year unless something really incredible happends." (Those are his typos, not mine) Oh, wait, that was followed by your posting agreeing with him "100%". I do have to thank him for the kind words about our cheeseburgers: "Aside from that not much to smile about. (Excluding those great Alcoa booster Cheeseburgers)" Congrats to the Tornadoes on a hard earned win! The Murvul team showed class in their loss; hats off to Quarles for being such a class act. It's been a long time coming, and it felt really nice not to be saying "Maybe next year" the morning after the game!

    CAK-Alcoa?

What a great game it was! I think our boys were surprised so many of our fans made the trip down, I know I was! The students were great with the support they showed. It was a really hot day, and it looked like our boys were just really tired at the end. Our boys definitely don't have anything to hang their heads about. Our boys have turned some heads in the state this year when it comes to soccer; looks like we're not just a football school anymore! My son is already hyped up about next year and the possibilities. Congratulations to CAK.
  16. Hey, Scooter: we absolutely know what we have in Rankin as an administrator. He is exactly what AHS needs in both a coach and administrator.
  17. Yep. Don't know much about soccer, except the goal is to kick that round ball over the line into the goal! The boys have done really well and it has been an exciting season, for sure! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  18. Should be a good game since the region finals was close. Can't wait to go to the 'Boro for another state final game!
  19. Like I said: It would've been better if she had spelled it correctly! She spelled it the walmart way, not the Alcoa way! T-O-R-N-A-DO-ES, Alcoa Tornadoes, are the very best! (I guess I'm showing my age now, aren't I??)
  20. That would've been better if you hadn't spelled "Tornadoes" wrong!!! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  21. You know, ya'll need to get off of BCS' back. He made a mistake, he realizes it (I'm sure), but he can't take it back. When I first saw the picture I actually thought it was of the Enterprise, Al. tornado that wiped out the high school and took the lives of 6 students. My in-laws' house was heavily damaged, the house beside it and in front of it were completely wiped out. The football field was also heavily damaged, their scoreboard was found in a neighboring town (who is also their rival). I heard several alumni comment that somebody needed to call them and tell them they want their scoreboard back. I actually felt bad for BCS for using the picture; sometimes things are done in haste, but you can't take it back. We all do things in bad judgement....he's explained where he got the picture, so leave it alone. Yes, a tornado can be deadly (I thought I was going to die in Spring Hill under the bleachers last year!), and it is a very dangerous thing. But, come Friday night at MTSU, the bulldogs won't know what hit 'em!
  22. We aren't moving up. This is with the reclassification. Here are some other schools who will also be 3A (who are 2A this year): Happy Valley Chuckey-Doak Cumberland Gap South Greene Gatlinburg-Pittman CAK Loudon Sweetwater Tyner Smith County York Goodpasture Westmoreland CPA Lewis County Milan Westview BT Washington You can go to: http://tssaa.org/allclasses.pdf for a complete list. So, it's just a cut-down version of this year's 2A with a few 3A's from this year thrown in. No way should we have moved up this year; next year there are only 3 schools with fewer students: South Greene, Bledsoe (with only 2 less students), Oakhaven (2 fewer students). This is using the multiplier for the private schools, of course.
  23. This will definitely be the end of our 2A run...we'll be 3A during the playoffs next year. We'll also be the 4th smallest school in 3A. It's not going to be easy, but we have a lot of key players coming back, and younger players eager and able to fill the seniors' shoes. The middle school had an undefeated season this year; I think most of the schools they played are much bigger than Alcoa. In the paper a couple of days ago they had pictures of the county all-star middle school football team, and I noticed some younger brothers of some of our players were there. Don't count us out yet! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  24. MrsGB: I'm assuming you're one of the moms, so forgive me if I'm wrong! The timeout during the last minutes of the game is a new tradition that I believe was started when Rankin got here. That timeout isn't taken at every home game, only the last home game. It was taken during the Loudon game because we weren't sure where we were going to playing the next week. I'm sure it's an extremely proud moment when your son gets to stand on his number and have the fans on their feet showing their appreciation. The tradition was started the year after my oldest graduated, so I'll have to wait until next year to know exactly how it feels. As a mom, I do feel like those boys are mine, too, so I'm sure next year I'll have to get out the kleenex! Marion County came prepared to play and it showed. I know everybody down that way is extremely proud of those boys! Congratulations on a great season! I expect to hear more from Marion County in the future.
  25. See, I just saved ya'll some money! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> The preps have predicted our scores pretty closely... I'm just saying...
