    umps?

I know for a fact how much umpires make and it is way too much. It is also going up next year and the year after. An online test, thats funny, its easy to pass a test when you have the book to use. As a comparison? How can you compare teenage boys with men in there 20's, 30's, 40's etc? Also, teenage boys do not get paid to play. Umpires get paid to do a job, and in most cases, umpires do a great job. However, there are exceptions. About screw-ups. Your right they are relative, but that doesn't make them ok. Missing an occasional ball or strike is one thing, but a pivotal play in the game is another. I believe that "many" umps have to much pride. To say a coach is showing you up if they show you the rule book is stupid. If your wrong, then your wrong. You should swallow your pride and admit it. I understand that umps are human and make mistakes. Players and coaches make mistakes, but let the actions of the players and coaches dictate the game. A call by an umpire SHOULD NOT DICATATE THE GAME!!! I'm not talking about balls and strikes. I'm talking about rule calls. Calls should not be determined by the umpires attitude towards a certain coach or player. A strike zone should not widen because a batter gives the umpire a funny look. The strike zone should not shrink when a pitcher shows emotion that he did not get a call. Furthermore, a play at the bag or at the plate should not be determined by whether or not the umpire likes the coaches or players. To me, its a power trip when they do that. Its a "because I said so" mentality that gives some umpires a bad rep. Don't you tell me this doesn't happen because if you do your full of crap. I know umpires do things like this. I've heard them admit it.

    umps?

I agree you have to have stones to umpire. You also have to have a clear interpretation of the rules and some umps do not. Umpires cost to much to screw up on big calls that have a major impact on the game. Balls and strikes are one thing, but major plays where there is major confusion and everyone is waiting for a call and one is not made, then that stinks. That has happened to us twice this year.
  4. It is not safe to say that DeKalb will win this district, but I'll give you this much, I saw that game last night and DeKalb hit the ball when they needed to where they needed too.
  5. There is also another score that needs to be added for Smith County. Smith vs. Jackson - Smith won 12-3 Date: 3/23
  6. Who wins this district? Anybody heard any scores from any of these teams?
  7. Are you kidding me? Who is #2 and #3? 85 took a 2 year hiatus from football the last two years, so no real experience there. 89 would be good if he had some speed. 15 has some consistency problems with his hands. The best one is the Brooks kid. If 2 and 3 are the ones I'm thinking about then I know for a fact that #2 has hands of concrete and #3 cannot adjust on a ball and has trouble catching it when he does get there. As for #12, I'll tell you where he was during the spring. He was out there catching balls in those scrimmages. Seems someone does need to be checking the films. YOU!!! I wish you'd tell me who you are dubcfan? I've got a feeling I know?
  8. I've sit and listened to this crap every week. I've gotten on here and read about how bad you think WC is every week and how you think the best players are not on the field. Well guess what, "IT ISN'T YOUR DECISION WHO GOES ON THE FIELD". Do you actually think the coaches are not putting the best players on the field. Who is it that watches these kids everyday in practice? As far as having the same players as last year? Uhhhhh not even close. * Last year there was a deep threat. This year there isn't. * Last year there were three receivers over 6 feet tall, this year?, not any that tall that can catch. Offense is hard to run at the 5A level, or any level, when you are one dimensional and when you have no real threat to spread the defense, they can sit in the box with 8,9,10 players and eat you alive running the ball. I've seen those guys play and I am here to tell you that #2 and #3 do not have good hands at all . #12 is the only receiver that is willing to do the catching. Being fast and tall does not make you a good receiver. You have to have hands and a good attitude. All this crying and whining about playing time is a bunch of crap. It's about the team, not one player "getting his touches." There are kids all across the state that wish they could get up and walk, much less play the game of football. So, I have no sympathy for those not getting their "touches."
  9. Why don't you all quit saying stuff your gonna regret tomorrow. Someone is gonna have to eat their words. Hope it RHS
  10. 2priceless, don't get so fired up. he doesn't speak for all of us. Some of us respect what great programs that Murfreesboro has and how Riverdale has become one of the premiere teams in the country. Look for a good game friday.
