Hey, since this is about Chattanooga area schools let me insert this brief plug. 2005 Pre-season Dunk Fest and 3-point Shootout - October 13th at 7:00 pm at Walker Valley High School in Cleveland. It is not a far drive for you Chattanooga athletes and it would be good to get some of you involved. So if you read this and you've got game come show us. Or if you know anyone, pass along the word. The more talent involved, the better hype the season will start off with. Bring it on up the interstate...unless you're worried the Cleveland area players are too much to handle. Ooh! And yes I know this is a football board but more people are seeing this than the b-ball board. Call WVHS for details 3361383. Got to sign up by this Friday.

I have no idea about these football teams but I have another question. Is there a girls basketball player at Knox Webb named Gloria Johnson who can dunk? I was told she could. If so, tell her we want her in the pre-season dunk contest and 3-point shootout. All the info is on the basketball message board. Please let her know about it and let me know soon. Just do me a favor...whoever reads this, spread the word. We want as many athletes involved as possible. Remember they have to sign up by Thursday, Oct. 6. Plus, they will be on TV!

This is some intense talk about Hixson and WC. Let me throw this out there to break things up a bit. DUNK CONTEST! Yeah, if you know anyone at your schools that can throw it down for real tell them to enter. It cost nothing to enter. There is also a 3-point shootout. It is kind of a pre-season "look what I can do" thing. The info is on the basketball message board. Talk it up.

OK. So tell all these high flyers they need to enter the dunk contest and show East Tennessee what they've got. Again, the info is on the basketball message board. They have to sign up this week. The smaller guys can sign up for the 3-point shootout. And if there is enough interest they might be adding a skills challenge - speed dribbling, passing accuracy, and shooting combined. But you can't enter unless you sign up ahead of time.

If they can dunk or drop the 3 pointer send them to the contest. This is the only pre-season contest of this kind that I know of around here. It should be a good time to show everyone who's got real skillz before the season starts. Then we will see what happens on the hardwood during season.

OK, the real question is...Are there any football players planning to throw it down this year at the dunk contest? I was told it is open to all athletes not just b-ballas. If so, the kid from East Ridge should enter. He's got mad hops. Who else can slam like 'Nique?
