  1. Played for the man for 3 years and no one on our o-line would want to play for anyone else. Congratulations Coach Gray. P.S. Coach Crutcher, if we win state you have to come dance for us Matt King #42
  2. Sorry I seem to have offended so many people by asking for support for our team, and to at least keep our squabbles to ourselves. 2bear2 - I guess you've forgotten that I've felt for years (and told you) I thought you were one of the most talented athletes on our team. And I always supported you and cheered you on. I hated that you didnt stay. And I wish you luck in the future. Peniroo - I'm sorry I've only been in Oak Ridge for 20 years, that obviousily isn't long enough in your eyes to be a fan. But I'm tired of the negativity, I'll continue to support the team and work for them, but I've had enough of Coach T....
  3. Oak Ridge Wilcats. Roll Wildcats Roll!
  4. I opened this thread because I thought it would be about OR vs Sevier County. It would be nice if we could all get behind the Wildcats, the whole program, at least for the playoffs. And in case some of you haven't figured it out, it isn't 1960 anymore. Not even the 70's or 80's. While I'd sure like to see a lot more folks out supporting the cats, I don't think the coaching staff matters to most Oak Ridgers. We just don't have the same number of people in town or the same type of population. I've talked to lots of folks in other parts of the state that would love to have the following high school football in East Tennessee and Oak Ridge has. It's just a little frustrating to be the only school out there posting their dirty laundry on the web over and over and over again. And those of you who know our current administration know they aren't going to get rid of our coaching staff because of a few disgruntled folks. The program needs all our fans support this Friday night, whether you like the coaches or not. Roll Wildcats!
  5. You are so much fun. Yes, the crowd was very disappointing, and I certainly wish we'd had more fans, but I have seen the crowd thinner, even in the G days. And I did notice all those fans you felt I attacked didn't even show up to sit on their hands this time. And sorry you missed it, but our cross-country team was at state this weekend, so that took all those kids out of the stands. And they have been great supporters all year. And I think if we want to pass the ball we'll be fine, Kevin was 9 for 12 last week and did pretty well. It's really a shame that your hatred for the coaches overshadows everything else. I'm beginning to think some of the other posters are right and you and some of the others would rather see us lose so you can say I told you so! Oh well, that's what these forums are for. And if you are who we suspect it's a real shame, you've got a great kid. I'd hate to think mine had to come home and hear his coaches and teammates trashed all the time. Maybe I'm just a Pollyanna, but I think the kids come first and they need positive comments. And sorry I missed you Friday night, I was looking forward to meeting you. Regardless, Roll Wildcats Roll! 6. Sorry Catwatch, I was misinformed. And I'm woman enough to admit (at least I guess I was -- I don't know for sure) someone told me Friday night that they were out of it. Really immaterial to me, he's GONE!! As to the rest of your post, I really don't know how to reply since it doesn't make much sense. Me and mine will be at Blankenship Friday night watching our cats win.
  7. He'll be sitting at home, watching the HS playoffs in Alabama.................
  8. Congratulations Cats. Soddy had a tough team, and you played great. And hats off to our QB, Kevin McKeethan who had a really tremendous game. Now let's do it again against the purple bears!
  9. Congratulations to the Freshman Wildcats, who finished a perfect season with a Division title win against Bradley Co. yesterday. They had a great season and even beat a few teams who sneaked a few JV players in on them. Roll Wildcats Roll! Catbooster
  10. Congratulations and thank you from a Senior's Mom. I've had the privilege of serving as the football booster president at Oak Ridge this year, and I want to recognize our seniors and every senior across the state that has hung in there. You all deserve a great deal of credit. It's not easy to put in the hours and the pain but you have and you should all be proud of your accomplishments. Whether you started every game or rarely saw the field you've stuck with it and we football fans across the state are proud of you. Even though I have a freshman and won't be leaving the program for a few years, I'm not looking forward to senior night with my eldest - it's so sad. But I'm so proud of him. He hasn't played as much as he wanted, but like most of these kids he's worked hard and dedicated himself. So hat's off to my senior and all of you seniors out there. You make us proud!!! 11. that a girl Jen, I hope your right btw who are any of us to judge who will or wont win it, let's see how this wacky little thing called the playoffs works out Matt King #42
  12. Let's get this story straight. Booker didn't choke anyone. One of our lovely young OR ladies hit him in the throat and Booker pushed her off of him into a locker. Probably not smart, but neither is punching someone in the windpipe. OR has a policy that if a "fight" occurs both parties are suspended - in this case (and in most) that didn't happen because a girl was involved. An OR administrator even told Booker he should be able to take it because he's a football player. I'm not sure anyoneone is "tough" enough to take a blow to the windpipe. I wish Cory had responded differently but I don't think most people would stand and take a shot in the throat. Nevertheless, OR will be fine another week without #11. Roll Wildcats!
  13. McMinn County did move the ball around some in the first half, but the OR defense kept them out of the end zone. A late second quarter score by the Cats seemed to really take the wind out of the Cherokee's sails. The second half was all Cats. OR capatilized on a bunch of McMinn mistakes and the line opened up holes you could drive a truck through. By the fourth quarter the Cherokees seemed stunned and just seemed to give up. McMinn has some fine athletes they just ran into a Wildcat team on a mission. #23's Mom was right in her post last week, they do have a fine kicker and he made the difference in a shut out. It was McMinn's homecoming and it's really a shame more fans didn't come out to support the Cherokees. The Cats had as many fans in the stands as the Cherokees. I talked to several McMinn parents and they were really upset at the poor fan showing. McMinn County deserves better support than that. Roll Wildcats Roll
  14. i play for oak ridge and maybe i can respond to your concerns. First of all the freshman have not gone undefeated for since 1999. Freshman starters have to come up into a new much more demanding system, same for the jvs to a lesser extent. On Friday night everyone is bigger and the game gets faster and more complicated and many players simply cant adjust because they are too arrogant to listen to coaches and older players. On the subject of Cody Cofer, he did start QB for us during the spring and proceded to totally botch 4 out of 4 plays on our first drive, he has been missing a lot of practice and cant mentally handle teh quarterback job. This is Oak Ridge, not Clinton, we dont just show up on friday expecting to play, one has to work all week to get a shot. Matt King #62
  15. the knee high white socks are a highly visible peace of our uniforms. had the player forgotten a jersey this would not be an issue. and as compassionate as your suggestion of running sprints in front of teammates, coaches, parents and cheerleaders in 95 degree heat is, it is not yours to make or question if you do not play for or associate with our team Matt King #62
  16. I am the President of the OR Football Boosters so I am aware of the decisions about uniforms and our one errant player. Our Seniors voted on which uniform to wear for picture day early in the week. ALL players were instructed which uniforms to wear including which socks (it may seem picky but they have several and we wanted a consistent look in the pictures). All players received the uniforms, again including the correct socks, an hour before photos were taken. 85 of our players managed to get to the field in the correct uniform. One could not follow simple instructions, and didnt show up in the correct socks. I urge all of you who read the posts on this board to take the "Catpack" posters messages with a large grain of salt. This handful of disgruntled people (I just won't call them fans) have issues with Coach Lussier. In the mean time there are many, many of us working behind the scenes to support our kids and coaches. We are proud of this team. We hate that a few unhappy souls seem to forget that their nasty (and most often erroneous) diatribes does nothing for our players who are out there working and giving it their all. Debbie King ORHS Football Boosters
  17. i am a senior player at oak ridge. I was present at picture day. the details of the incident are as follows: players were reminded of proper uniform (including socks) all week, proper uniform (including socks) was posted on the board in the lockerroom, socks were handed out to all players less than one hour before pictures were taken with uniforms and one out of over eighty players forgot them. I will also warn that the so-called "catpack" is a disgruntled group of parents of former oak ridge players whose chance to live vicariously through their children was fouled by lack of ability or deplorable attitude Matt King #62 Oak Ridge wildcats
