  1. hahaha yeah that was actually the first thing that came to mind stealth. i think ur team is a little bit better than his. unfortunately im gonna have to call u out on this one. you werent on that fra team. that was ur freshman year and u were the #8 or 9 guy so u ran in the jv race but still u could definatley have raped everybody on his team so its all good
  2. haha sorry man but im pretty sure stealth could get that time at jesse owens no problem. tn usually does really well on that course. i usually ran my best times there and it seems like the tn teams have been dominating the silver division the last few years. i know we had 3 in the top 5 last year with mba mlk and ccs
  3. i'm gonna have to agree with stealth on this one. u apparantly didnt read the previous posts. stealth asked for last years times, they were given, and the times are not anything to right home about. he didnt say next years times are nothing to right about. the fact is the teams at the meet last year were nothing spectacular and they could use some of the quality tn teams to help the meet grow along with the strong bama teams that are apparantly going already. if u look at a meet like jesse owens, the biggest meet in alabama, that meet is what it is because of great competition between alabama and tennesse teams along with an occasionally team from some of the other surrounding states thrown in
  4. we in the middle section are just kind of sensitive about the steeplechase subject because u guys told us how slow we were because of the times u saw us run on steeplechase and we told u how hard it was running there and why the times were slow and u still said we stunk and that the course is easy then u ran on it urself and the majority of the east guys did even worse than the people from the middle had been doing but still continued to talk about how easy the course was and all that crap
  5. you should be happy with anything under 17 or at least close to it cuz thats probly what u need for top 10. there are gonna be very few guys hitting 1640 in a/aa this year at state. that might be about the top 5 cut off and that would still be faster than last year
  6. in a/aa boys the east only had 5 of the top 10. middle had 4 in the top 7 and the west got 8th. in a/aa girls the had 7 or less cuz i know the middle got 3 in the top 6.
  7. you cant just go by whos at the top. u have to go by depth 2 which would definately seem to go to the middle
  8. haha yeah i had the same problem playing indoor soccer during the winters. i love to soccer way to much to ever give it up but im definatley better at running but during my junior year i got turf toe during the winter from playing on the astro turf and it definately slowed down my training a little bit but i think all in all my season turned out the best it could have so its alright
  9. i wouldnt call him a big front runner. lipscomb has 2 or 3 (depending on if max perkins runs track this year) that can have gotten in the 950s so i would say he is far from being a big front runner but yes he does have the best returning time by a few seconds
  10. overuse and overtraining are very similar. its the same concept. ur legs dont know the difference between when ur just running or when ur running to catch a football or a frisbee or something of that sort. its all running so overuse will still do the same thing
  11. no it was not a stress fracture. i think it was a foot injury but i could be wrong. like i said it had nothing to do with overtraining and a stress fracture is definately caused by overtraining
  12. smallings injury had nothing to do with overtraining. the only person i can think of that was hurt recently with overtraining was bejon abtahi when he got his stress fracture last year during xc but he came back and had a great track season anyway
  13. i agree. i think there is a pretty good chance of a middle region sweep on the guys side this year or at least 2/3 with brentwood, brentwood academy, and lipscomb (or maybe fra) and in a/aa i predict the three qualifiers from that region all finish in the top 5 this year improving from last years all in the top 7
  14. umm lets see where to start. first sean was a sophomore last year and since he ran prs i really doubt he peaked his freshman year u know since he ran faster his sophomore year. second even if he does peak hes still running times that will probly win state for the next 2 years. the only runner that has a chance to beat him is chris berry. i dont care who u are, 45 miles a week will never be enough to win state in aaa in tennesse. having said this, josh is a great runner and i wish him the best i just dont see anyone touching sean for the next couple of years except for maybe chris berry
  15. jackson around 1620 if the course stays the same as last year. if it is lengthened to a 5k the time will b different
  16. fra and etown. then i think it could be between frazier and mlk for 4th just because both are returning so many people and knox cath, page and ccs are losing so much. frazier is bringing back all 7 i think and mlk is only losing david so those 2 should b pretty good
  17. well it depends on where u look. its sometimes listed as 1:51.24 (has to drop 1.57 seconds) and sometimes its listed at 1:50.20 (has to drop 2.61 seconds). i dont know the reason for this though maybe one was an out of state meet that they didnt count or something but either way he has to drop a lot more than a second to get the record and like i said gj was faster as a junior than james is and he didnt run any faster his senior year This is what was listed on the distance carnival site: Event #10 (7:30pm) High School Boys' 800m (2:01.00) Stadium Record: 1:52.61 G. J. Hudgens (Christ Presb. Acad.) 2005 TN State Record: 1:50.20 Jim Ailshie (Dobbyns Bennett) 1981 And this is what was listed on the state meet site: Boys 800 Meter Run D-I AAA ==================================================================== State Record: S 1:51.24 1981 Jim Ashlie, Dobyns-Bennett
  18. recent history doesnt really help out much though. gj ran faster than that as a junior and earlier in the season and still never really came close to breaking the record. im not saying that means he has no chance and there are a lot more things going right for him than gj like the fact that he actually has some decent competition to push him but he by no means has the record wrapped up or anything. 2 and a half seconds is a lot to drop when u are at the elite 1:52.81 level
  19. the middle section also has the best decathletes and pole vaulters
  20. the lipscomb runner was damon varble not ryan johnson
  21. elizabethtown actually has a very good chance to win it if jaynes can get 28 pts in the ditance events then a good showing in the 4x4. Then if their hurdler and thrower perform like they have them they good get over 60 pts and b in the running as well. and u can never count out chattanooga brainerd either even without adrian bentley
  22. this is a very different situation because leray foote has already signed with kentucky to play football and i think the coach at uk would probably have a heart attack if he saw leray foote trying to run on a bad knee. look what happened to lemarcus coker. the bottom line is when u have a full ride to play football at an sec school there is no reason to risk further injury
  23. there are plenty of guys around the midstate area that could b incredible high jumpers that decide not to once they have signed for basketball or football. there are a lot of incredible basketball players around middle tennesse but most of them quit track after one or two years because their basketball coaches make them. corey brewer for example was a 7 foot high jumper his sophomore year before stopping because of basketball. im sure guys like brandon wright or josh bone could be incredible high jumpers but they play basketball
