  1. Anybody have the schedule for the Jamboree at MC?
  2. I guess you could call it even... The biggest mismatch I saw was Greenback's defense had nothing for Polks running game.. I'm talking 4 play, 70 yard scoring drives. But overall I agree with orngblk, offenses looked good, all 3 defenses need tightened up before week 0. I think if those had been regular 4 qtr games, Polk v Karns would have been competitive throughout. I think in a Polk v Greenback, Polk would pull away in the 2nd half. Greenback v Karns would probably break the scoreboard! Just my opinion. Also kudos to all three for a good, intense, scrimmage with no mouthing, scuffling, etc,, very few penalties at all. Standouts -- #7 from Karns is a burner, #1 from Greenback made some Reggie Bush like cuts #35 from Polk is a load, and has enough speed to get to the EZ when he breaks through
  3. That's why I said "most challenging" for those 2 games. If I had said 7-3,, the other loss is Loudon.
  4. I'm thinking 8-2 maybe 9-1, , Bradley and South Pitt will be challenges! Most of them will be challenges, but I see those two as the most challenging!
  5. Notre Dame? That's funny! Sunday's CDB had the scrimmage as 5:30pm.
  6. Agreed. Trying to maintain order with the players on the sidelines is totally different from running into the middle of the melee. And yeah, some of them Central fans are real special!...
  7. I'm with you all on this. Each vantage point would have seen different things. For example Charlie only saw the SP QB and the Central defender getting into it, and the scuffle that ensued from that point, due mainly to the other SP kid, who I won't mentions number, "standing up for his QB" as others have stated. I didn't see (or hear) what started it, and all I saw after that was large pods of scuffling. I would agree that it was handled, let the coaches do the disciplining. Charlies' bigger concern was the fans (parents) running out there.... I was standing right beside two SP fans, who took off after some woman, "skillet slingers" I believe y'all call them, came over and yelled, "you better get out there!" At first they thoguht she was joking, but she wasn't! The one guy took the time to remove his eyeglasses, place them neatly on the ground by a light pole, before he took off into the fray. And yes, there were Central fans too... that one little sawed off feller that wanted to fight the SP coaches and players after the teams were seperated was real funny, like a little Grover Dill.
  8. Yes, it seems the fans getting involved is more of an issue for the host school, with the TSSAA, not the participant schools. Charlie talked to one of the refs that was working the scrimmage and he didn't know what the refs report said, but most of their discussions after the incident was about one of the SP players that was using his helmet as a "weapon"....I didn't see that from my veiwpoint.. Ha, I'm sure everything will be better for SP by the last Friday in October, ,, but that evening it's all going to start going bad again.......
  9. On a side note regarding the Bradley 5 way..... That had to be one of the worst organized scrimmages I've been to. Floyd needs to consider having both games on the main field in the future. Why not 40 and in, with two games going? I heard one of the refs say, after the scuffle, "If we (TSSAA officials) are here, then it's a TSSAA event", So I don't see how BCHS gets by with the lack of control of fans on the upper field. Heck, I was standing on the field watching a few plays. Having both games going on the main field would address this issue and it would be easier on everyone involved, instead of going back and forth... Cause you know Bradley aint leaving that main field. Sorry to hijack the thread, but aint it about time to start a web page for SP vs that KY team anyhow, , Roy Dillhead?
  10. Let's not call names, especially as derogatory as "Lou Holtz".... Beating or tieing teams in 10 play vs 10 play scrimmages wasn't the factor. This SP team seemed smaller, less explosive, out of sync (especially with one of the QB's)... I'll admit it's early, but that team didn't look near the caliber of the teams I have seen at the Bradley 5 way in the past. I'm sure the guys will improve, and hopefully stay healthy, then semi's or finals may be attainable. As you guys have stated, with a team numbering in the 20's, injuries are devastating, and SP always plays a tough schedule. Contrary to popular belief, I like SP! My assesment is based on comparison to past SP teams at this point in the season. SP teams from the past few years would have scored 3 or 4 times on some of the competition at that scrimmage!
  11. Anyone in the know, heard anything on suspensions from the fight at Saturday's scrimmage?
  12. Do what you gotta do Barney.... From what I saw Saturday, SP may get to the quarter finals...which is an achievement for most teams, but I know you Pirates expect a trip to the finals every year. There, football talk... GO Pirates
  13. The SP team I saw at the scrimmage Saturday, behaved alot like a Bill Price team, but didn't play quite as good. It is interesting too that hardly anything has been said about the fight compared to the flood of discussion that followed the Signal 7 v 7 fight.
  14. SP was much more efficient with #10 under center. The team looked smaller in size than past teams and much less disciplined. Keep us posted on what the TSSAA thought about the scrimmage. I'm guessing they'll be sending their conclusions of the evenings activities to your AD soon.
  15. The defense looked "strong" against a horrible Red Bank offense. South Pitt moved the ball pretty well. Offensively, Central has good talent at tailback. The other skill positions looked tentative and unsure of themselves, but it is early.
  16. I don't know who the top 10 are,,, I know who #1 should be and I know a few that should NOT be in the top 10. Other than that, I don't know. But I don't promote myself as knowing! you guys get on the radio and pretend you do!! Anybody that thinks McMinn Central is a top 10 3A team or that Notre Dame is the 2nd best team in 3A has NO CREDIBILITY and definitely shouldn't be spewing there misinformed opinions on the radio. But hey, it's your dime, and free speech and all....
  17. Is this a joke? Notre Dame #2? McMinn Central will be lucky to win 5 games this season. I enjoy prognostication as much as the next guy, but it should have some basis in reality!
  18. It takes more than 10 seconds for the refs to spot the ball.... think about it man! A play every 10 seconds? 10 seconds from one snap to the next...impossible... In 2012 Oregon averaged 15 seconds from the time the ball was spotted to the snap. That's Oregon, Chatt central ain't Oregon!
  19. Might as well start talking......I'm sure it will pick up after the pads go on next week and the pre season scrimmages start. Since the series was started back, in 2009 after 20+ years of not playing, it is BC 3 PC 1. Thoughts....?
  20. Do y'all just copy and paste your predictions from the past year? Last year it was the same thing..... and charlie was believing it for awhile. After watching y'all handle Mc Central, I was a little concerned with the Chiefs coming to Benton at 6-1......but we all know what happened! Are all these monster linemen freshmen? Because I don't rememebr any 340lbers or 360lbers doing anything last season. I'm guessing these big boys pretty much just stand straight up, make people run around them, then suck wind about 4 minutes into the 2nd quarter. What numbers are these boys?
  21. For starters.... Zeman - 5'9'' 205 lbs Miller - 6'1'' 230 lbs (Stat's for both players came from 2012 season's info)
  22. That's funny!! Monroe Co math... I can't wait to see these three guys that are "well over" 1000lbs. So 333 lbs plus.. EACH. If these guys are like that biggun y'all had that wore them yellow shoes..... Charlie ain't worried!
