  1. She had two fouls at sub-state.... Ya get five. And your right a lot of coaches would love to have had those teams. Not the other way around. And the 08-09 girls would not have won 20 games. That's crazy. We will see this year how good JD is, now that all the girls that played under Dallas are gone. And Clarkrange beat Wartburg very handy this year, and they got beat in the district. So does that make Wartburg better? No. Therefore they're at least #17. Sweet sixteen doesn't mean you were one of the best sixteen, just means you are in the right place at the right time. They play an easy road to sub-state. And then get thumped there. And they have been a good team the past three years, but not the best. And def. not ELITE!!! Look at MC at Oz, there's a coach. She wins even when her team is down. Wartburg has not won a district championship since only lord knows when. Not since JD has been there. And two of the three years they were second best in region. That's not elite, especially when it's a weak region.
  2. Because Dallas made those girls that should have beaten Jackson County who won state. Those girls were not bad players until the coaching change and then became all stars. haha and unlike you I dont have a bias opinion when it comes to Wartburg. I don't have any children that attend the school and I def. don't have any kids that play ball there. So before you crown your coach the Best in the County, you better win more games than Oakdale and Coalfield. And Don't call yourself Elite, you're not. You've been better than the other teams in the district only a lil over half the time the past three years. District 3 is horrible, that's why District 4 sends two teams to sub-state almost every year. And when they travel, they lose usually embarrassingly unless it's Oliver Springs. Yes you made it to sub state but you also got beaten very badly both time you lost. Just because you're one of sixteen teams left does not make you one of the best 16 teams. And Just because you make it to sub state three years doesn't make you a good coach when you come out of Region 2.
  3. I understand coaching is hard but to Crown Wartburg an Elite team look at what they've accomplished with who they've won with. You can go back and see where they have the best or at least top 3 player in the district along with 4 other very very solid starters which is more than most can put out. But just to prove this "Elite" Status here some stat from the past three years. Then you tell me who's elite? Wartburg has been lucky the past three years with the draws in the region tournament always avoiding the best team in district 2. Wartburg 58-37 (17-15) 61% winning overall 53% in district- Region Champs, One State Appearence (0-1) Loss to Jackson County. Oakdale 56-33 (18-14) 63% winning overall 56% in district Coalfield 57-26 (24-9) 69% winning overall 73% in district- Region Champs, One State Appearence (0-1) loss to Jackson County. Oliver Springs 62-37 (25-7) 63% winning overall 78% in district- Three District Champs, One Region, Two State appearences (1-2) both losses to Clarkrange
  4. Three years under Dallas Developing. One year under Jason, who has a sub par record in middle school at Wartburg. He has had extremely good talent, and he sits them at weird points. Longmire's minutes in Wartburg's losses in the post season was way way down. He set her and she was arguably one of the best players on the team. He called two timeouts in a game they got smacked, a lot worse than 13, bulldog fans better thank North Greene for letting off the gas. Watch next year when he doesn't have players who have proved they can play. I only told about tellico because of the statement that anyone in 4A would have beaten them which they wouldn't have. Wartburg is no where near elite status bulldogmom, Dallas' team should have won state, the past two years have been sub state flukes. That's why very seldom do Region 2 teams win at state. Clarkrange beat wartburg by 46, yeah that's right 46 points and they lost in the region semi's. Go look in Region 4 That's elite. or oliver springs or coalfield. Both are more elite than wartburg. Wartburg is far from Elite.
  5. How about Settles, McWhorter, Branstetter, Staten, Armes, Chapman? Coalfield has had the same team for three years, Oliver Springs had Christopher. Os had the best player, Wartburg had the best starting 5. Two years ago in Settles, McWhorter, Branstetter, Fountain, Armes. Wartburg has had the best talent which has shown in their success in the post season. And about starting at Oliver Springs or Coalfield, I could easily name 5 players the past two years that would have started from Wartburg. And about Tellico, they beat Marion County by ten points who would have played in the state tournament if it wasn't for Jackson County. They pouned 80% of the teams they played and lost by 9 points to the a team in AA, Polk County, who beat tons of quality teams this year including a 7 point win over McMinn Central who is in the AA state semi finals. And up at the Tee Pee they would prolly of liked to had some of the girls that have set the bench the past three years. Oneida has lacked superior talent.... they had a decent team with Donja, Lay, and chitwood, but they haven't had 5 good players in a while. Wartburg has had the better talent I can go pull stats if need be.
  6. Wartburg won't be bad. They are similiar to the team Wartburg had four years ago only difference is they have more than one player returning from last year. The District is down bad, only draw back is Harriman and Rockwood are loaded with talent. Maybe a rough year for district 4 when it comes to advancing very far out of the district.
  7. Congrats to Coalfield you had a great season. As for Wartburg three sub-state trips with arguably the best 5 starters in the region each year. Region 2 is weak when it comes to girl's teams mainly district 3. Thing that's so great is The #1 and #2 teams from District 2 get in different brackets which usually places two district 2 teams in the championship since the other district has been so weak in past years. Wartburg should pat Oakdale on the back because if they thought North Greene beat up on them, Tellico was ready for the dogs, they just forget about a very good Oakdale team. Wartburg has had more talent than everyone the past three years, next year they won't. And If I remember right wasn't this group of girls weak in middle school? I may be wrong, but I thought they got beat up on. Coaching at Wartburg has been a big ? in the big games against good teams. They will no longer be able to out talent teams, we will see how it shakes out next year with a lot of talent coming back at other school while Wartburg returns only one proven player.
  8. You'll never get 4 seconds to throw the ball in high school football unless you have 5 stud lineman. Passing League just helps QB's get some rep's early in the season and get timing together with receivers. It translates very little to the real game. Even pre-season scrimmages, they're good PRACTICE. But they're just that, PRACTICE. Kudos for beating Wartburg in "passing-league", but friday nights aren't the same as passing league. Trust Me. I've been there Done that. Friday Nights are completely different. Take a guy who has never played QB and he can look good and make good decisions in Passing League. Throw him in Friday Night, he might not look so hot.
  9. Wartburg will be very good this year. Plenty of speed and hard nose players. Plenty of seniors that are three year starters against Alcoa, Loudon, CAK. If they stay hungry, they'll put it on the county teams and I think make the playoffs. We will see tomorrow how much progress has been made.
  10. Great game tonight Cruise. Keep ya head up kid.
  11. Oh. I see your reason for why it's harder. But playing in A you pad your stats two three times a week. You play a team that has a kid that can barely throw it over the plate. when kids go 20-23 in district play you can handle that 0-3 day against Kolinsky and still hit around .450. So I strongly doubt you woulda had better stats. You also have to consider when A teams play AA or AAA teams very rarely do the bigger schools throw their Ace. And Everyone knows in High school most the time there is a big difference between a team's Ace and their third starter.
  12. Thought Davidson gradutated and hit right handed? Oh well, good job dude.
  13. They right underdog. Single A ball is alot different than AA and AAA. That's why Kids leave the bigger schools to play A. They can't handle AA and AAA so they come so smaller schools so they seem like Studs when in all reality whats it matter? It's single A. The best players play AA and AAA. Simple as that.
  14. Big Lefty?? Anyone know his name? I dont remember a left handed kid from Wartburg. Who threw in both games from Wartburg?
  15. Haha yea, because in high school baseball there is a distance meter like on Video games in the Home Run derby. Greenback will not even get out of there district, unless something happens to Harriman and Rockwood. But back to the catcher things, How about Hunter creasy? do you even know who that is? Catcher at Jackson Christian, he ain't too shabby. And if you wanna get on a local level look at Pryor at Harriman.
  16. Smitty is not the best catcher in 1 A. haha. that was humorous. He is not the top Catcher in his own Region. The Kid is a very good ball player no doubt, and Greenback will go as he goes, but He is not the best catcher in Single A baseball. Plus Greenback's field is like 250 all the way around. It's not like he had to hit a 400 ft. bomb.
  17. According to the schedules Wartburg plays Greenback tomorrow. That might be a pretty good measuring stick to see how things will go this year.
  18. Who does everyone open up with?
  19. Coalfield Tied with Harriman. Harriman beat AC. I think not 100% sure on those though. but in scrimmages you can see which kids can play. Your not gonna get a real good look at a team. Most teams throw the work horse maybe two innings, and usually lets everyone play. Scrimmages are good no doubt, but just cause someone wins a scrimmage doesn't mean they could beat them in a real game.
  20. Harper is a beast on the boards and will stop penitration by Slusher and Pridemore, because Harper will step in front and its hard to make a pass around him. Ima go with OZ. I love to watch good rebounding teams, and I think OZ is a very good rebounding team. That's where defense is. I dont care how well you defend on the ball or shut down passing lanes, if you cant rebound you cant end a defense possession. Because of Harper and Carter, I think Grace will get very few second chance points, and Grace will wanna run with Harper in the line up thus they wont put a body on Harper and he'll tear up the boards. Oliver Springs wins this one, with Harper being a "Big Reason" why. haha
  21. I agree, Hawn was probley the best pitcher in the district last year. He just had no help.
  22. Titlow cant man handle Carter or Harper. That's what would have to happen for Greenback to come out with a win at Oz.
  23. Region Champ, Grace and Wartburg. but that prediction might change after tonight /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  24. Oliver Springs lost alot. They return Cruise, Pat, and Cody. All three are pretty good, but I don't think those three can be district champs. Sunbright will return Sears and Young, besides those two prolly a bunch of freshman and eighth graders. Oakdale has a new coach, I think? At least that's what I've heard. They return Currier, their catcher, third baseman, sorry I can't think of their names. Decent players, but not quite ready to compete for a district. Oneida will be bad, have been for a long time. of these four Oz will be the best, then oakdale, then sunbright with oneida bringing up the end.
  25. I had no idea he had arm troubles and moved home, and I didn't say he was overrated. All I said was Lockwood numbers were better than his. Both were very good players. Just proving the point that Farragut and Bearden do not "own" East Tennessee baseball and other schools produce above average players.
