  1. I highly advise all young wrestlers out there looking to turn that proverbial corner this off-season to make plans to attend this camp. Coach Gannon brings some of the best technicians in the country to our backyard, and year in and out has produced a great wrestling camp at a steal of a price, that employees a great staff in an environment that is comfortable and conducive to learning wrestling. Over the years this camp has been attended by numerous state champions and placers, many of whom have progressed to the college ranks, this list includes Ryan Konz, Patrick Marchetti (Prospect), Jeff Francis, Zack Herrmann, Michael Goodrum, Wes Wesley, Bhret Usary, and much others. I highly reccomend this camp, summer wrestling creates winter champions!
  2. Well what is it looking like this year? Surely like years past both Simpsons are going to tweak their lineups to make things more interesting, trying to expose weaknesses in the opposing lineups, what weights is this most likely to happen?
  3. Congrats to Father Ryan and Pat Simpson for their tough scheduling and their success at this event. I know this weekend Baylor made the long journey up to Minnesota for a tourney. Give credit to both these programs for stepping up and finding the toughest matches possible, it will show come February.
  4. Saw this on Ryan's schedule today, seems like it will be a good night of wrestling. Comments/Predictions?
  5. If I remember correctly this is the same Gary Rankin whose 1990's Riverdale teams could not compete with Carlton Flatt's powerhouse BA teams, thus causing Rankin to lead the charge towards the current division split? I thought so, Rankin left the Boro because Riverdale was losing its huge stock of athletes to rezoning and new schools.
  6. Bearcat its nice to see you come out of hibernation, I hope this season you keep your paws off the red cool aide that Baylor is likely to ship to in the upcoming weeks before the season gets under way
  7. In D-II Ricky Fisher (FR) and David Helton (BAY) should be fun to watch
  8. MBA wins by 14, Ensworth will not be able to run the ball on MBA
  9. As strange, as it sounds, that prediction seems right, we will just have to see, hopefully Ryan shows up while BA, coming off their large deficit victory last week, will show up with a "hangover"
  10. Obviously you dont know me personally then kong, because I rarely harp on my wrestling accomplishments on this board (something you obviously you dont know, hence this is your first time posting) or in everday life for that matter, but if someone is going to call me on this board, heck yeah I am going to defend myself, but this is the last time I am posting on this thread because all I see is people attacking me personally (which it is their right to do, this is the internet where anyone without a spine can post anything they want about anyone). Where I on the other hand only stated my opinion at the start of the thread, which is immature kids on Ryan's team should avoid posting topics like this so as to not bring unwanted attention to the program, and only attacked others after being provoked, via their personal attacks on me.
  11. Alright Spoon, let ME spoon feed YOU. This person is obviously not Matt Levine posting this topic, this fact has obviously already been established. Secondly, I did quit the football team to pursue what I wanted to pursue something I was far more passionate about, I did not realize that was a crime and to be honest, I feel that I should not have to defend my choice (especially to you) which was that.......my choice. I think most people would agree I did not quit because of playing time because at that time I was going to be a starter on the offensive line, but I decided I would rather pursue wrestling more earnestly. If you think Father Ryan's football team was better off without me, I totally agree, because my heart at that point was totally not 100% into football, which would have unfortunately been detrimental in my play as both a player and most of all as a teammate. As for the wrestling team winning in spite of me, I take great offense to that since I was a very dedicated and loyal teammate and worked very hard with my teammates to capture that title, something that no one on that team would dispute, but you as in your own words describing yourself as "an outsider", clearly has the right to dispute my loyalty to the people I knew best in high school? I will retract my statement about IrishX being filth and give that title to you because that is what you truly are for calling into question the dedication I had to my teammates on the wrestling team. I sincerely hope you post your true name on this board so that you can no longer hide behind your screen name (which is obviously your right on the internet), so man up spoonful.
  12. IrishX, your a moron. Obviously Mr. Levine did not post this topic it doesn't take a genius to figure that out. But your right that banner in the gym is not from my fruit, it is from the fruit of the work of both my teammates (most of whom cut a considerable amount of weight) and myself (we all know that Father Ryan wrestling practices six days a week from November to February). As for me being a quitter, I suppose you could put Cole Gobbell and Sam Clanton in that category with me? As for my 2nd state individual title it wasn't the cake walk you described though I made it look that way, I was the last wrestler (that I know of) to beat Ryan Carrethers of BA (who you might know as the big kid that pancaked you, or your son on the gridiron) who the following year went undefeated and pinned a majority of his opponents, including Hunter Allen, this years D-I state champion. Anyone Irish X, your filth and won't post your name on here and because you won't your bottom feeding rubbage. As far as I am concerned as long as Father Ryan has filth like you on their football team and people of my caliber on the wrestling team, the results for the two teams will continue as they are and will likewise be the norm.
  13. Animal, when I called Bo the other day he said that the interest simply wasnt there for an open division, and as of now they will not have one.
  14. Well veteran, thats just speculation on your part but I think you miss the whole point of my post which is why is a current player at Ryan hyping up a father ryan football team that to be frank doesn't need to be or for that matter want to be on the d-2 radar? I am sure this is something Bruce Lussier would not want, I am sure he prefers to fly below the radar. As for me not playing, that was my choice and I think that banner in Ryan's gym is proof enough to support my decision. I support Father Ryan football, but until they are consistently in the elite ranks of this division (like Pat Simpson's crew is) they should in my opinion avoid posting topics like this, am I wrong?
  15. Yeah watch out they might just break even........
  16. How come the colleges and universities in TN seem to have a very hard time keeping the elite talent in TN? It seems to me that all the best players go out of state, even though there are two SEC teams in this state. Why is this?
  17. Is it true that Brunner will be wrestling for the Red Raiders of The Baylor School next season? What are the people of Tullahoma saying about Mr. Brunner leaving for another school? If D1 is so superior to D2 (Junior Varsity Division) as some people on this board have stated why would a D1 State Champion leave for a D2 school? Some of this stuff just makes no sense. Is this transfer true? CBG, let me try to answer the last part of your post. Obviously if this rumor does have substance to it, he is pulling a Cody Cleveland (transfering from Tullanooga to a D-II powerhouse, Cleveland, obviously went to McCallie not Baylor) so he can have access to a better education (I know I am going to have a moron from Tullahoma post on here the same crap you always hear from D-I posters about being able to get the education at a public school that you can at a private, which in most case4 is possible, but you can;t tell me with a straight face that Tullahoma is just as good as Baylor or Mccallie on the classroom), better facilities for both academic and athletic purposes, and access to (no offense to the coaching staff at Tullahoma who I am sure do a good job, obviously Brunner isn;t a state champ on his own) better coaching, all of which can help him take his both is life and wrestling career to the next level (perhaps a storied college wrestling career).
  18. Croy should definitely not be on the All-Midstate team... he's made it the past 2 years. Give someone else a chance. You're a moron........
  19. Any details on the Croy Kennedy matchup?
  20. This is why high school wrestling in TN, though having grown leaps in bounds over the past decade in terms of both quantity (in the number of kids coming out) and quality (having guys do well at the big national tourneys), is miles away from other states. The guys down south care more about the gridiron then the mat and it obviously shows (not that there is anything wrong with that each region has its priorities, though I would like to see more "athletes" give wrestling a try). In order to be considered a top tier wrestling state, the kids that wrestle here are going to have to pick it up in the off season or TN will still be known on the national scene as a state that has some good wrestlers, but whose wrestling is mediocre at best overall. Also I did see Croy at 189 on the NHSCA website, but wouldn't that mean he wrestled at least one match this year at 189 in order to do drop?
