  1. I'm pretty sure Coach Tolley knows when to press and when not to press...
  2. You forgot the wins that Hampton got against AAA Science Hill and AA Stone Memorial in the first two games of the year. It is an error with the coacht schedule not to have them listed... The Dawgs were hurt big time by injuries during most of those games. I'm not saying Hampton is gonna kill everybody at the Boro. I'm just saying that now that they are healthy, they are tough. The losses to Cumberland Co., South Greene, Cloudland, Happy Valley, and at home against Elizabethton were the only ones of those 10 losses where the Dawgs were at full strength. Hampton has only lost one 1A game when at full strength and that was on Roan Mountain to Cloudland. Regardless, Wednesday should a fun day in the Boro...
  3. Everybody in the Hampton gym after the game wanted the Landers to win as well. When the final score came through, Vanhuss-White went silent...
  4. Maybe you misunderstood what I said. I never said they would win anything and didn't make any predictions. Hampton's defense is what made Wartburg look like a different team in just a few days...
  5. Hampton is a purty solid team. They beat Wartburg by 27 last night and Oliver Springs beat the same Wartburg team by 1 a couple of days ago. The Lady Dogs also won 3 games against a Cloudland team that lost by 2 in 3 overtimes to Oliver Springs last night on Oliver Springs' homecourt. I believe Hampton's record is making people overlook them, but they've lost to some very good teams (South Greene, Elizabethton, Cloudland, North Greene, Unicoi Co., Happy Valley). They've got some purty decent wins over AAA Science Hill and AA Stone Memorial and they won a tournament against some good teams in NC. A ton of injuries hurt the Lady Dogs in the middle of the season, but they are tough now that they are healthy. And I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm hatin on Oliver Springs, I'm really not trying to. It's just about the only information that I can give to let people know how good the Lady Dogs are...
  6. What are everyones thoughts on this game? I don't know much at all about Cornersville, but their schedule looks impressive. I think some people may be underestimating Hampton because of their record, but they have played a very tough schedule against some very good teams. After their performance against Wartburg last night, I wouldn't count them out against anybody...
  7. Is Lake Co. not very good? Everyone is picking Oliver Springs to beat them and Hampton just beat a team last night by 27 that OS only beat by 1 just 3 days ago...
  8. Like I said before, with Hampton's hard nosed defense and the way they shoot the ball at home, it would be hard for Wartburg to get the win. But I didn't think it would be a massacre. Congratulations Lady Dogs and great job Coach Tolley!!!
  9. Pressing and hard nosed defense just happens to be Hampton's speciality. With the way Hampton shoots at home and the intensity that they play with, it will be hard for Wartburg to get a win. As crazy as it gets in the Oliver Springs gym, I honestly can't see a way that Cloudland can go down there and get the win against Kayla Christopher. But then again, I couldn't see a way that Hampton could go 4-0 against North Greene and Cloudland in the tournaments either... Hampton by 9... Oliver Springs by 6... (I hope I'm wrong)
  10. This is an unfair question (sort of), due to the fact that Disctrict 2 is so terrible. But I would put these 10 players from District 1 up against any 10 from District 3 or District 4... 1. Ryan Hopson 2. Alex Denton 3. Dylan Ward 4. Logan Morgan 5. Nathaniel Hughes 6. Matthew Potter 7. Jeremiah Greenlee 8. Logan Andrews 9. Frankie Covarrubias 10. Josh Peterson
  11. Well, you may be right. The only problem is that Cloudland plays at Rockwood and we all know that Cloudland can beat them since they have already done it once this year. When the Landers beat Rockwod earlier in the season, they did not even have the Region MVP Matthew Potter on the floor due to a broken arm...
  12. BOOOO to random drug testing. I remember that I had to take 5 "random" drug tests in 3 months back in my bag boy days at Ingles. I'm purty positive they just wanted to get rid of me haha...
  13. I agree. I thought it would be near impossible at the start of the tournaments for Hampton to beat North Greene twice and Cloudland twice. But the Lady Dogs have only 1 game left and so far they are 3-0... the Regional Championship is tonight...
  14. James Buchanan from North Greene. Remember this team in 1A next year. LOADED!!!
  15. Cloudland is peaking? Didn't Hampton just beat them in the District Championship?
  16. I don't think those Memphis teams would kill the Cosby and Hancock Co. teams from like 1998-2002. Those teams were ridiculous, had players about 6-8 or 6-9, and either of them would beat this year's Grace team by 20. They never won it, but they were both one of the 2 or 3 best teams in 1A those years. East Tennessee 1A is WAY down right now, but they will be back up eventually...
  17. Cloudland has overcome worse odds before to make it to the state tourney and UH handled Grace in state last year, so I wouldn't completely count out District 1...
  18. That kinda only makes it worse. So Cloudland puts bleachers on the stage, but they don't count as REAL seats? The TSSAA is a joke...
  19. I still can't believe they did it. But I don't believe Denton or any of these UH players now would do anything like that. Up until Woodacre got there, UH and Tony Gordon liked to keep around a different type of student athlete...
  20. It's not "not going by the rules" if the TSSAA doesn't tell you that you can't play on your home floor. TSSAA never said a word to the Landers until AFTER the game was played and that's crap. I remember your Rangers playing Sunbright at Happy Valley when Dugger was still there. But a couple of years later in '04 and '05, Unaka played Cosby and Rockwood in sub-state at Snavely. With all the extra seats that Cloudland had out last year, there is no way that Snavely could hold more than Cloudland did last year...
  21. GO LADY BULLDOGS!!! GO HIGHLANDERS(boys team)!!!
  22. In defense of the coaches, I would say they ran the 1-3-1 because it is a turnover machine and they prolly thought that it would be their best chance to get back in the game. Quite a few times UH would throw a pass right to a Hampton player and then the Dawgs would kick it all over the court and UH would get it right back. Or Hampton would create a turnover but go down and either miss the layup or hand it right back to the Bucs. At one point, Hampton cut the lead to 8 in the 3rd quarter and then got 3 straight turnovers only to give it away a few seconds later each time. The Dawgs had their chances. But you could tell that UH had been working on exactly how to dismantle that 1-3-1. They swung the ball like crazy, and in that trap, the Dawg defenders were constantly out of position. The key to the whole defense (the way Hampton runs it) is the middle man (usually Lipford) and last night, there was nothing that he could do. His job was to cover Denton at the high post and then cover both corners when the ball goes there. The way UH moved the ball, Lipford's task was impossible...
  23. 7 people died during that flood. There are alot of people who won't ever forgive UH for what they did...
  24. Not really much you can say. Hampton didn't show up. They were never in the game. It's the worst I've seen them play all year. Of course Denton got his, but the Dawgs let Phillips have about 15 and some guy that I'd never heard of got 26 I think. I don't know if it was nerves or their youth or what it was, but in these 2 elimination games, they looked nothing like they did in the Districts. One thing is for sure, this summer, Hampton is gonna have to find somebody else who can create their own shots and score besides Ward and Hughes. Jones showed flashed of this down the stretch, and I expect him to step up big time for the Dawgs next year. TJ Lyons and Tyler Trusler should also have a couple of good seasons next year and Logan Andrews will keep getting better... Overall, it has been a great season for the Dawgs even though it has come to a bitter end. They have far exceeded my expectations. If someone would have told me at the beginning of the year that Hampton would win their first Conference Championship in 15 years and their first District Championship in 7 years, with Ward being the MVP in both, I would have taken it in a heartbeat...
