  1. Thats a nice compliment! She has decided to focus on volleyball. It's hard to play club vb and basketball at the same time.
  2. What do you mean by "As for Mcgee, if she doesn't play other teams won't mind."
  3. What do you mean by "As for Mcgee, if she doesn't play other teams won't mind."
  4. My daughter (player) is already talking about next year but I like you am not ready to wait an entire 365 days for another state championship, so I am supporting our AAU friends in their championships and title quests. It relieved SOME pain but not like really competeing for the big gold ball. All I can say is AAU can't come to quick!
  5. Yes, BA did an AWESOME job and won it all. Victoria Dunlap is the MVP and it is well deserved. She is not only a great player but a class act! Congrats to BA!!
  6. I predict Briarcrest will win it ALL! They beat BA once this year.
  7. Makes very good sense CPG! I was asking questions to get other thoughts or views. My remark on the player being a direct reflection of the coach was meant to say that the player would not have done any of this if the coach didn't allow it. Sure parents are 100% responsible for their children but this player would not have been able to miss half the game, show up at half time, play the rest of the game and disrupt the team had the coach not allowed this to happen. My point is when an athlete makes two commitments, one to a school team and one to a AAU or club team, which commitment do they honor first and how do they decide who they should let down. I DO think a player should give all they got to the TEAM, but which team gets priority?
  8. This may need to start up another topic but..... It is VERY hard for athletes that play multiple sports and extracurricular sports to prioritize. Hopefully the coach knew well in advance that this player would not be there. If not, I'll bet he/she will know next year. Do you think that with each high school sport an athlete plays that the school sport should come first or the sport the player wants to focus on (play in college) should have priority? If you insist that school sports come before club or AAU you will have very good athletes only playing one sport. It seems as though a good coach will have great communication with each player and coach according. In my opinion each athlete and their actions is a direct reflection on the coach. What a coach will allow determines the attitude of the entire team. Father Ryan - better luck next year!
  9. What happened to Father Ryan?
  10. ABSOLUTELY! This is the real deal not league playing, where every person gets the same amount of playing time. If Vic gets hurt they will be a totally different team. If she fouls out, it will probably be close to the end of the game.
  11. Victoria is the power-house behind this team. I know there is no I in team but it have a player as powerful and fundamentaly sound as Vic you should absolutely capitalize on that. In the BA games I have seen the others contribute to the team as well but just imagine the team without Victoria! You would have just an average team.
  12. Sorry but NOT A CHANCE. Hillsboro has more than Mooney and they are having a very succesful year. When Mooney is off and even when she is on, some of the other girls score big...Soleman etc. Getting (or not getting) in foul trouble is part of playing a good game. You have to be smart enough and well coached not to let that happen. Brentwood has a very good team but I choose Hillsboro by 15.
  13. I was off 1 point in my prediction. Congratulations FR!
  14. The coach at Westview is also crazy on the court!
  15. I don't know if this is the case for GPS, but why do coaches start all seniors even when there may be a better choice in a sophomore? Just curious to see what anyone thinks about this or has even noticed this?
  16. I think that there are just so many great DI teams this year that they are the center of conversation and press. A DII team will not get much respect or recognition until they beat a Smyrna, Shelbyville or Wilson Central team. Harpeth Hall beat Shelbyville last year and after that they seemed to be in the press and in sports conversation and went on to win the DII state Championship. Just a thought.....
  17. My thoughts, in this order...... Harpeth Hall - still a great team and great coach Briarcrest - traditionally a great team Brentwood Academy - great individual players Knox - Glory Pope J Paul II - great team not sure about Father Ryan.
  18. Harpeth Hall is playing in the Nike tournament in AZ. Some of the best teams in the nation.
  19. Did not see the Academy vs. Father Ryan game, but read the stats. The Hall gym does seem to require adjusting your play as does the state championships. I've heard players say playing in a huge gym, with free-standing goals (college gym) is very different from playing in a high school gym. But, you have to adjust your play for whatever the circumstance.
  20. hhuummm, I've been pondering that myself.....just to get a feel of how md tn, DII schools will measure up. From what I have seen and read about, Brentwood Acd. is all about Victoria Dunlap and Hall has a deep bench. I think Father Ryan is tireing out their varsity players in JV games. To answer your question, I would think the Hall vs. Father Ryan is more indicative of Father Ryan AND Halls strength
  21. I am glad to see DII discussion. I saw the Father Ryan vs. Hall game and the twins are good players. They seemed to "give out" by the 4th quarter as they played JV before varsity. Hall was very strong in that game and beat Father Ryan. They had two seniors and a very good junior leave but they are recovering just fine. Academy will be good again this year. I think Pope J. Paul will a GREAT team this year. Don't know much about other teams but looking to read other posts with information.
