  1. Union City vs. Huntingdon UC wins 29-26 http://www.highschoolsports.net/defaultcal300x250.cfm?ct=matchup&schoolid=TN382617942&spt=4
  2. Yeah there are only 11 playing at one time but when your playing against a different group everytime possession changes your at a disadvantage. This is not a game that decent conditioning is going to work if UC is trying to have guys go both ways. I will give UC a definate advantage in special teams, and it is a huge advantage. As fas as the passing game goes, you better hope to see Huntingdon's passing game Friday night. If not, the running game is not being slowed down. UC is very capable of winning this ball game if Huntingdon gets careless with the ball as we have done on occassion. However, without any turnovers I see this a 2+ td victory for Huntingdon. I'm just glad to see the rivalry having another chapter being written. And it's getting a bit annoying having to read posts about West TN not having any good teams. I hope the team that wins this game goes on to win state, I think they both have the ability. With this new classification is there a way that two teams from the same division of TN can play for the title?
  3. I guess it's hard for some people to a read map. That concept of using the big river that separates W. and M. Tenn. as a dividing line must be confusing.
  4. I it was a joke, you seem to be getting more upset about it than me, and I'm the one who started the thread...sorry you took it so personally.
  5. There are a few teams that deserve to be up there...so that would make UC 4th, atleast...not 8th. That was my argument. I never said they deserve to be #1, I just said not #8.
  6. The county school, Obion County Central High, is in a town of 3000 (maybe) and has close to 1000 students. There's a 3rd high school in Obion County in South Fulton who take another ~290 students. Plus, Union City's population is determined on how Goodyear is doing. A lot of families move in and out every year due to transfers and the massive amount of layoffs Goodyear has been doing for years. As for classification, in the mid to late 90s UC would've been a 3A team with this new classification system but due to diminishing population and the new classification changes they are 1A now. As for the game Friday, I'm excited that the rivalry will be renewed. When I was at UC our toughest games were against Huntingdon. I hope both towns remember the old games and bring huge crowds!
  7. You're funny. I did this as a joke...didn't think anyone would take it seriously...apparently I was wrong. Way to be a trailblazer, Marshall. And UC is Union City...look'em up.
  8. Nice point, Kyle...a lot of users on this site go to the poll voting and choose their favorite team as first and don't vote for other deserving teams because they are trying to run up the points value of their favorite teams...that's not how it should be. I agree...........FEAR THE VEER

  10. How does UC rank second in the AP poll but 12th in the fan poll? Many people are either voting with their biases or just clicking buttons without doing homework... UC has proved its regained powerhouse status last year and has come out showing it again this year. UC has scored 93 points and allowed 6...the 6 coming against a much larger KY school. I don't understand why middle Tennessee schools like Jo Byrns, South Pittsburg, and Trousdale County keep getting high votes when there are better teams else where. Maybe it's because most users on this website are from middle Tennessee and don't care about other regions of the state, but they should do some homework before they start clicking buttons in the voting. Try looking at other prep websites for input before voting on regional biases. unapproved website.com is a good one...so is massey rankings.

  12. Union City beat Trigg Co. (KY) 45-6. They have an off week before playing Peabody at home on Sept. 4.
  13. The game was fun. Back and forth with each team getting to ride the high and struggle through the low. Ensworth missed a few kicks which kept points off the board. It was apparent that the lack of depth was getting to Ensworth in the third quarter. Coming from a small high school (2A when I was there, 1A now) it was normal for the starters go to both ways, therefore, conditioning was key. (FEAR THE VEER ) I'm not used to seeing high schools having 80-90 dressed players and being able to have one way players. Oakland should have taken advantage of this and ran the ball up the gut more...especially with the lead...and keep wearing out the already tired Ensworth players. Anyways, Ensworth got a surge of energy late and got a couple of great punt returns (why Oakland's punter didn't angle the kicks away, I have no clue) and ended up sending the game into OT. Down by 8 in OT, Oakland ran it up the gut twice and pounded it in for a TD...then a PA pass for the two-point conversion?!?! I have to say, in my opinion, Oakland's coach had some questionable play calls. With the lead in the 4th he ran sweeps and tosses and the back kept running out of bounds...bad play call or just bad coaching (not telling the back to stay in-bounds) it doesn't matter. Ensworth had plenty of opportunity to come back, and they did. I say Ensworth had the most challenges to overcome and they did. It was Oakland's game to lose, and they did. And what was up with that kickoff "do-over"?!
  14. Anyone get that hit on a phone or camera? Maybe youtube?
  15. UC fans, read up! http://www.nwtntoday.com/news.php?viewStory=19241 McKenzie fans, your turn to read! http://www.nwtntoday.com/news.php?viewStory=19242 I like this score...very realistic. Both teams are gonna put up big number (IMO) but I think UC has the edge with hard-nosed, time-managed drives. Turnovers will be the key factor. UC 42 McKenzie 28
  16. 30% chance of showers at gametime. Around 54 degrees.
  17. Yeah, I knew he'd been back a couple weeks. I was trying to be sarcastic since he's usually more excited than the players. The kids yell when a big play is made...he yells every play. That man has heart!! He's a great reminder of overcoming adversity and he's right there on the sidelines being the bigger cheerleader along with a coach.
  18. It might have been all about Colton the first half of the season, but now it's a team effort. IMO, the reason other backs are having success is because teams were keying on Colton. Now opposing coaches have to decide on whether to key on Colton and take their chances with the other backs or key on the other backs, which is going to give Colton opportunities to run. UC's offense is basically a double-edged sword on opposing defenses. (and for the final jab to finish ya off is the random pass that, if completed, usually goes for a big gain because the defense is up around the line-of-scrimmage expecting the run) I think it's gonna come down to turnovers. Whomever turns the ball over less wins...team morale is a huge issue with young kids. Speaking of morale, do ya think UC is gonna be fired up to have Kennedy on the sidelines?
  19. If I were you I'd take Highway 51. Watch out for the speed traps in some of the towns, but you can fly inbetween those towns. About two hours from Memphis...cruising 5 over the speed limit.
  20. I was surprised to see the points put up in the UC/LC game...then they beat McKenzie. Plus they finished 2nd in the region...sounds like somethin to brag about.
  21. Massey Ratings (rankings within the 61 1A teams): Team-------Massey Rating--Strength of Schedule--Offense--Defense--Power Union City---------10------------------44------------6-------17------10 McKenzie----------13------------------36-----------24-------5-------13 MR: Advantage UC SS: Advantage McKenzie (but when you stop and think about it, McKenzie is on UC's schedule twice and since UC is a better team than McKenzie it inflates McKenzie's SoS and pulls down UC's) haha Offense: Advantage UC. Defense: Advantage McKenzie. Offense vs. Defense: 6 vs. 5 The margin is 1 so that gives McKenzie a very small advantage when UC has the ball. 24 vs. 17 The margin is 7, which gives UC more of an advantage when McKenzie has the ball. Power: Advantage UC. Massey's Prediction: UC 21-20
  22. Is it a different defense than the one that UC built up a 21-0 lead against earlier this season? Cause UC's offense has improved significantly! Like I said, UC had a 21-0 lead against McKenzie earlier this season, and offenses usually improve more than defenses...
  23. You call 31 alot of scoring? UC has been puttin that up on the board before HALFTIME lately.
  24. After the Halls game: http://www.nwtntoday.com/news.php?viewStoryPrinter=19051 Preview for the McKenzie game: http://www.nwtntoday.com/news.php?viewStoryPrinter=19050
