  1. Gar, Steve. Classy post, and with a nice spice to it. Enjoyed readin' it.
  2. You have GOT to be the least intelligent person on CoachT forums...
  3. First bold comment: You personally blamed a SP player for possibly costing the team a state title then followed it up by saying they shouldn't be ashamed...seems like a pot calling the kettle black. Second bold comment: I assume you're referring to Purple & Gold Standard's comment and I'm pretty sure he clarified the situation a few posts up. Third bold comment: Who is really the jealous party? The ones being humble about an upset state title win, or the overcompensating fans that are trying to make excuses by blaming teenagers for dropping passes in the endzone? Random thought: The fact that you say SP struggled against physical teams all year then go on to say that people saying other teams would have held their own against SP is contradicting. If a team that beat UC such as Huntingdon did it by being more physical than UC then by your own statement of SP having problems with physical teams seems to suggest that Huntingdon would have held their own or possibly beat SP.
  4. Don't forget about George Evans...he played QB, safety, kicker, and punter his senior year...
  5. Daniel Maya was a FES in 2004. He was a kicker (soccer player.. go figure!), too. Didn't get a chance to do much because we had John Graham at that time. John Graham is an outstanding football player and a great young man. Plus he got his one of his two conference championship rings (with Bethel UNIVERSITY) fit to his pinky finger....that's pretty awesome.
  6. Where was all this speed that SP was supposed to have? The QB was shifty but I never saw sprinting speed...although I did see him chasing Price (#28) a couple times but he never seemed to be able to catch up. Also, UC's defense did well against the run...they were in the backfield quite a bit. Defending the pass has never been UC's forte so the times SP had a big gainer with a pass it wasn't surprising. And what was up with all the SP players getting hurt? Did their opponents during the year play two-hand touch or something? I mean, there was an SP guy down every other series! And the comment about #21's injury being a mental thing, that was hilarious! Did the Mr. Football lineman finalist from SP play today? I saw him catch a ball or two but he wasn't doing much on defense...maybe he was apart of some gang tackles. Haha...it's all in good fun! But for real, no hard feelings...today just wasn't South Pissburg's day.
  7. Are you hard-headed or just lacking upstairs? It's Union CITY and Greyhound is spelled with an e, not an a. And I bet Murphy says that "you'll be the first to get the book" line to everyone that asks about when it's coming out.
  8. I wonder who is in Hades right now?? Are you serious? I can't believe the audacity of some people. Oh well, enjoy the silver ball...
  9. I didn't know Crockett did all the work...he must work 25 hours a day! Great job to everyone involved which is ALL of the Turf Management team...
  10. union city will bring alot of people. this is the state championship remember? i project that there will be about 3500 people on our side. yall may have 4-5 thousand but trust me we will be louder than yall because we are loud and rowdy!!! It is very hard to be loud and rowdy when you guys will have nothing to cheer about And whoever said your fullback can outrun our defense is crazy! It's apparent that SP has some fast athletes. The thing is, what will that matter when UC is grinding out 4-5 yards a play up the gut. SP's speedsters might get to the line quickly but being bulled over play after play takes a toll. From what I've read, SP is like Univ. of Cincinnati or Texas Tech or Oklahoma...run the spread and score quick. That works but when the other team has 4-5 minute scoring drives the defense will be worn out and breaking down...that's when the big play happens. And it's obvious SP has a great defensive end...the thing is, the veer takes care of good defensive ends. UC's quarterback is good with reads and knows when to let the FB take it when the end contains the edge and he knows when to bounce it outside when the end goes inside...that's the beauty of the veer, it is a reaction to the snap, not a guess before the play like an audible. I assume SP will score quickly when they're on offense, but if the offense is on the sideline for the majority of the game it will be difficult to put the mercy rule in effect (like multiple SP fans think will happen). I'm not saying who is gonna win/lose, I think it will be a game of two completely different styles and will be interesting to see how each coach handles the other team. Think Cincy vs. Georgia Tech. I also hope it doesn't rain. Safe travels everyone!
  11. I just watched the Mr. Football replay available online through tssaa.org and I must say that the guys from South Pittsburg had some pretty sweet suits on. http://tssaa.org/playonsports/mrfootball.cfm Class 1A presentation start around minute 13.
  12. >>Bud light presents Real American Heroes (Real American Heroes....) >>Today we salute you Mr. Correct the Names on a Message Board Guy (Mr. Correct the Names on a Message Board Guy....) While others are wasting time posting facts about high school football you come out to do the dirty work. (No rest for you now....) Even though you are doing the posters a favor, you still catch flack for catching every mistake. (Was that a mistake that was just made?....) So crack open an ice cold bud light Mr. Correct the Names on a Message Board Guy, because there is only one thing I know for certain in this world, and that is where would we all be without you? (Mr. Correct the Names on a Message Board Guy.......) Nicely done.
  13. How hard is it to realized that South Pittsburg is playing Union City, not Union. Union is a college in Jackson, TN...Union City is a town with a football team playing Friday. I understand that it's South Pittsburg and not South Pittsburgh. And for goodness sake, it's in the title of the thread! It's just hard for me to take some of these comments seriously when the person posting can't even get the team names right with it in big letters above. I know this has nothing to do with who's going to win or whom is a better team, but at least get the team names right. They're the best two teams in their division, I think they deserve the respect of spelling their respective school correctly. Just a thought. Anyone know of a good local place to eat at in Cookeville?...not a chain restaurant, like a mom & pop type place.
  14. You can stick around and watch UC's neighbor, Milan, take on the team that beat UC in the 2A state final in 2001, Alcoa. Just remember to wear purple since UC and Milan both are purple.
  15. I don't think #27 plays corner...he plays linebacker. #28 plays tailback and safety.
  16. It's Union City, not just Union. How big are these speedsters from South?
  17. The game was slow and boring. Besides the occasional Wayne County pass for decent yardage it was just Union City bulldogging Wayne County and lulling them to sleep with the run. UC dominated the game but gave up a few passes which made the score look competitive, but the game wasn't. Wayne County fans thought they could overcome the Union City sidelines and I guess hope that the fan turnout would help the players on the field...Wayne County needed a few more thousand fans for that to happen. And for the people complaining about Union City fans...it's the semi-finals, of course the opposing team is going to cheer for their team. Just because you lost at home doesn't mean you have to deface the opposite team's fans. If your team was winning I'm sure you would have been just as fanatic as the Union City faithful. And to the principal of Wayne County High...I still want to see your Press Pass...
  18. 1A Union City beats arch rival 4A Obion County...impressive regardless.
  19. 1A Union City over arch rival 4A Obion County. When your 1A team beats a 4A team by 22, then you can talk...
  20. UC 29 Huntingdon 26 http://www.highschoolsports.net/defaultcal300x250.cfm?ct=matchup&schoolid=TN382617942&spt=4
  21. I guess it's hard for some people to a read map. That concept of using the big river that separates W. and M. Tenn. as a dividing line must be confusing. roflol what some red neck's has nothing to do with a river there is only east and west no in between,,,,but glad not to be there High school football doesn't take precedent over the official three divisions of TN. Anyways, I'll be happy to argue that Jo Byrns High is in middle Tennessee any day. Nice 'popcorneater', by the way...really proves your point.
