  1. The Panthers were district champs last year with a pretty young team. They lost a few key players in Green, Hobby, and Cardio, but they should be in the hunt for the title again. The favorite has got to be Halls with so many talented upperclassmen returning. Powell will hit it pretty good. The question mark will be pitching depth. I think Anderson Co. should have a very good team. They lost their two best pitchers in Price and York, but they return some strong young arms. A.C. should hit it pretty good too. I know the catcher and 3B have signed baseball scholarships. I would say that A.C. will be in the top 3 or 4 in that district. BTW, I wanted to wish Oak Ridge pitcher, Matthew Foxworth, a speedy recovery from his shoulder surgery. He is a heck of a pitcher. That is a huge loss for the Wildcats. I know about the Ownby kid, who I believe is just a sophomore. Including him, who are your top three or four pitchers? I know about Hillard, Gresham, Beeler and Corscione (SP?) of Halls, but who else should we look for from them? At Halls, look for Burton and Barkley to throw quite a bit, and Painter to throw some as well. Powell will have Burner as their #2 behind Owenby, and Skeen and Below will most likely finish out the starting rotation. Winegar, Sanford, Latham, Alford, and Smith will throw some games as well.
  2. Powell will have Tyler Alford behind the dish. He will catch quite a bit even if Below makes it back. For Halls, if Austin Smith is healthy, then he will catch the majority of the time. You could see Andrew Russell back there as well.
  3. I agree.....SC will have a strong team this year. Should make a run at the district title. Another team that was left off is Halls. I believe they have to be the favorites in 3AAA.
  4. Admission is $5.00. All games are 5 innings or 1 hour / 30 minutes Does anyone know if you can go from site to site for one admission?
  5. I think it's too hard to evaluate kids that haven't played at least one year at the high school varsity level.
  6. Dustin McPhetridge, a 2012 grad at Powell, suffered a broken bone in his arm this week in practice. He was Powell's starting QB this season as well. Last year as a freshman, he hit 2 HRs and started several games as a DH. Surgery is a possibility. Big loss for the Panthers.
  7. Could someone from Oak Ridge please post the schedule for the play-day. Thanks.
  8. I thought this was the He-Man Woman Haters Club.......... NO GIRLS ALLOWED!
  9. quit talking yourself up bro, and talking in 3rd person isnt fooling anybody, especially considering your username includes your name excuse me young man but I am HIS MOTHER. And I am stating the facts.

  11. Drake Owenby - Powell Colby Skeen - Powell Jacob West - Maryville Austin Smith - Halls
  12. The right hander you are talking about is Brenton Bates. I agree with you Rico, and when you add in Jacob Turner this year they are really going to be tough to handle. The deal with Gibbs will be whether or not they can score some runs.

    District 3AAA

Halls is definitely the favorite to win the district. Very deep on the mound. Although J.D. did leave some big shoes to fill. Powell will hit it top to bottom but not sure about pitching depth. Should be pretty good if they work hard in the off-season. Oak Ridge is always tough. They return some strong players. They could be the surprise team. Karns' big questions will be on the mound. If they develop some guys, they will be strong. Anderson Co. will be young on the hill. Lost Price and York but I think they will be in the mix with some really good players returning. Central will most likely have a tough season with so much youth. I wish them well but I think they lost too many seniors last season. Not real sure about H.V., Camp. Co., and Clinton. Any thoughts?
  14. The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades. Very young team made it to the playoffs in 2009. Any predictions for 2010?
  15. Lee is starting at TE for Marshall. The one game I watched him play in, the announcer said he and the other TE for Marshall were NFL prospects. Lee is married and has one child.
  16. Could someone post the tournament schedule on here? Please include the boys schedule.
  17. Could someone post the tournament schedule on here? Please include the girls schedule.
  18. Is "EK" Erik Underwood? Just wondering. He has always been a tough lefty.
  19. I'm looking forward to some great match-ups in 3AAA this season!
  20. Powell All-District Andrew Green (Sr.) - (I'm not possitive, but I think Andrew was named Player of the Year) Justin Hobby (Sr.) Jordan Sanford (So.) Colby Skeen (Fr.) Drake Owenby (Fr.) Also listed as honorable mention were: Joe Cardio (Sr.) Austin Below (Jr.) Powell had a very good season going 24-10 with a District 3AAA Tournament Championship and league runner-up finish. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  21. The same thing happened today in District 3 with Powell winning the championship and Halls finishing runner-up. Halls made a pretty impressive run coming as the 6 seed. Powell played a solid tournament defeating West, Halls, and Central. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Matchups by region: 1 2 Halls @ Farragut / Bearden @ Powell 3 Cleveland @ Ooltewah / Soddy-Daisy @ McMinn County 4 Lawrence County @ Blackman / Lebanon @ Coffee County 5 6 Antioch @ Independence / Overton @ McGavock 7 Munford @ Bartlett and Arlington @ Brighton 8
  22. Thanks Rico and good luck to Halls next week. I think I remember reading on the side of Powell's concession stand that 2000 was their last district championship, but I'm not sure if that was league or tournament champions.
  23. Halls beat Clinton 15-12, and then they beat Central 6-4. Powell plays Halls tomorrow at noon.
  24. Two of Powell's seven were listed as "honorable mention", but this is still a noteworthy award. I think the coaches voted on the all-district team at a meeting prior to the district tournament. The official all-district team has not been published in the Knoxville News Sentinel yet, so some of the coaches may not be letting their players know until it has.
  25. I agree, HTV. Drake has been very solid on the mound this year. Powell is a very young team. They are starting 3 freshmen, 2 sophs, and 2 juniors right now, with another freshman lefty in the rotation. Powell had 2 freshmen and a soph that earned all-district team honors, as well as four upper-classmen. The future looks very bright for the Panthers. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
