  1. CONGRATS ON THE WIN! I PREDICT 1 OR TWO MORE DISTICT WINS BEFORE THE REGULAR SEASON CONCLUDES. However, coltsfan they did beat Anderson Co twice, and Loudon once in 02-03, for 3 district wins. Anderson twice, Loudon, and Lenoir City once in 01-02, and a win in the district tourney. I very seriously doubt the Bill or Doug would have told you no district win in seven years.
  2. I agree a loss is a loss, but a team that is going through adversity like this one and still be play in defeat is a good sign in my opinion. They showed alot of heart fighting back from the 14-point deficit, a lesser group would have thrown in the towel. Good effort, I agree I feel things are coming together.
  3. I was at the Oneida/Coalfield game, but what ever Coach M is doing is starting to pay dividends. That was quite a showing against a good team! The smaller rotation will allow him to keep his key players on the floor more. I know it was a loss, but still yet it is someting to build upon. Good luck the rest of the way!
  4. Who are the starting five now?
  5. OK redlander, I am just stating some facts about the progress of the team, and have not been very negative, and my comments are just on this sight. All you had to do was watch R.L on sunday night if you want negative comments. So, to say i am picking everything apart is insane, believe me there are alot of people in the community with an interest in this.
  6. OK ladyhighlanderfan, I get your point, and I will respectfully ease up on this topic. I do actually support Coach M, just take the time to look at my other posts. I have actually said in the past "it's not the jockey it's the horse, you cant' win the Kentucky Derby riding a mule", there is no question the talent pool for this team is far below average. And for the respect of Coach m and the team I will ease up on this subject. And I will also agree with you, that quitting is nothing to be admired, but when six players walk-out, regardless of what the reasons may or may not be, there has to be some sort of internal problems. And I also stand behind my statement, those girls will be missed, IE-AC & McCreary. But as you said, they are no longer on the team, so do the best with whats left.
  7. What looks like unorganized basketball, is just that unorganized basketball. Scott is doing nothing to speed up the game, all of this " fast paced" action is coming in transistion, not off off forcing the other teams into TO's by pressing them. They get a defensive board run to the other end in trasistion and throw up a 3-pointer without having the numbers. Then the other team slows the game down, brings it into a half-court game, so the point you make about speeding the game up is wrong. Scott might try to run in trasistion, but they do nothing to dictate the flow of the game with the opposistion. Don' tget me wrong, with the personnel they have I am not saying they should play a half court flex the entire game, but they should pick and choose their transistion oppotunities better.
  8. ladyhighlanderfan, It appears you don't think too highly of the girls who walked out, and I can understand that, but to degrade kids, and yes they are still kids is very "small" of you. Your stats on the gibbs game were very interesting, at least you are doing you homework now, but as I said earlier, Gibbs may be the worst AA team in the state. I am sure your are digging up the McCreary stats as we speak, so I will be looking for them soon. Good comment, on the ladies playing fast paced. This shows how little you know, I would not refer to it as fast paced, but rather, out of control. By the way while you are digging up those stats, dig up TO's per game. That should be interesting. Furthermore, that "fast paced" basketball as you refer to it produced all of 43 points against Anderrson Co., and 22 after three quarters with AC top line up. That faced paced basketball really produces points.
  9. Easy now coltsfan, like I have said in the past I almost always agree with you, but to answer your question. Shelton & Jeffers both matched up much better with Lindsey Watters than anyone did Monday night, maybe you should watch that replay. Coach M did a good job of throwing his post depth at Watters, and she did fatigue in the second half of the first game. He didn't have that same aresenal Monday to keep fresh post defenders on her. As far as Gibbs, I think you will have to admit a couple of these girls were factors, but I will also admit, it was not a huge factor. Allow me to clear up a misconception you may have. I personally have no problem with Coach M, I think he is a very good coach. Look at my other comments concerning this subject. I just don't like the way ladyhighlander fan perceives this situation, calling these girls quitters, and referring to them as no talent bums, goes a step to far. May I add this, "the good players that stayed" got beat by nearly 40 last night. With "the quitters" playing it was a bit closer, and on the road mind ya. So, my point is this, the girls who walked out are being missed, and will continue to be missed!
  10. Are you referring to the Winfield Middle in Scott Co., just north of Oneida. If so they have a new gym this year, it is pretty nice. About like Huntsville Middle.
  11. Sorry but as usual I feel the need to correct you on your errors. 1. 90% of the comments about Coach M being abusive are false, certain people don't have the facts and are merely repeating comments they have heard in the public. I believe we refer to that as "hear say". On the other hand some of the comments are true, and Coach M has over stepped some boundaries. 2. "the quitters" as you desribe them, "your daughter just isn't that good of a player" as you commented. Well, lets look at facts, not just your incorrect opinion, shall we? Since the walk-out they have had two common opponents from whenthe girls who walked out participated in. Beat Mccreary Co, with those players, yes I know it was @ home, but they did lose by 20 last night. Gibbs, a double digit win @ home, a two point win @ Gibbs, which by the way may be the worst team in AA, 4-14, with one of those wins against Washburn. So, as usual your opinion is just that "your opinion", I know you are entitled to your opinion, but next time, look at facts, like statistics, common opponents, etc. Looks to me like the players playing now aren't that great either!
  12. I usually stay quite and just read what others have to say, but I have two posts on this thread by merely correcting statements I feel are misrepresented. For you to say that only two of the six will be missed, and to mention the two you mentioned just makes my head scratch. I am not sure you know alot about the overall concept of the game. Stop for a minute and look at the lack of post play this team has right now, and think about how losing Shelton and Jeffers, two fairly adequate post player will do for this team. Who provides post depth now? Wait until the 6-3 from CAK comes to town, these two provided the best match-up against her, so now what could have been a winable game at home against CAK will be a struggle. Furthermore, Haley Watts was one of the more versatile players on the team, capable of playing 3 or 4 posistions, and should have been given more of an opportunity. Megan Acres will also be missed, she was going to be a good player. So, ladyhighlander fan think before you speak! They will all be missed!
  13. coltsfan, While I normally agree with your insight, I will have to respectfully disagree with you on the first half, second half comment. Lets be realistic, first of all there are two halves for a reason. A poor shooting first half, or trouble with specific assignments, lead to second half adjustments, and give the Kingston staff credit, they made the necessary adjustments. I will however say this, the lady landers are their own worse enemy at times, TURNOVERS, TURNOVERS, TURNOVERS. I hesitate to say this, but while people early in the year were speaking of how much better the girls were playing, I would simply reply that the style of play was different than last years team, and this years team would struggle win win as many as a year ago. I will say this, keep Coach M, the last thing the ladies need is their third coach in as many years.
  14. Biggest coaching mis-match of the year! Hall vs. Perkins, big, big advantage to Hall, with that said Scott by 25+. Scott is still a team that needs to improve, or the losses may become contagious. They could continue to struggle in the district if the post game doesn't come around, guard play is good against weak teams, but they struggle against good competition as well. Look for 15-17 wins.
  15. OK, You want other comments, I would be glad to chime in from an abjective view in this matter. First of all; I believe I remember you from last year speaking of the poor coaching job that Kries and Murley were doing, and earlier in the year you were praising Coach Marcum, ah just a hunch, but I would guess your daughter was playing earlier in the season, now she is not, or she is not playing near as much and now the coach you were praising is doing a bad job. So, if I am right, you are more concerned with one player and not the development of the team. As you stated I am sure some other parents have this same view-point, and if they do it is wrong to put your individual concerns over that of the team. It is time parents quit pointing fingers at the coaches, and realize what the true problem is. As the old saying goes, "when your pointing your finger there are four more pointing back at you". Comments you made are nothing but problems for a team that needs encouragement, not criticism. Sad to say most of these so called "complainers" no nothing about the game of basketball, and let me tell you, your current coach, and previous coach (Kries) both know the game! Kries won 80% of his games in the 80's when had had something to work with. Another old saying, "you can't win the Kentucky Derby riding a mule", all I will say about that is the talent pool is very, very depleted. So quit whining, and start supporting, or if Coach M is making wrong personnel decisions, maybe he should consult you, for your expert advice!!!!!
