  1. You like to quote stats and scores.... They mean little to nothing.... How about a couple years ago when Brainerd went to Maryville and lost 21-18 I believe and that was after everyone (Rhea, Cleveland, & Red Bank) in region 4 had used them as a doormat no one thought that could happen. So it may be a cliche but "On any given Friday, any given team can lose." Even if Rhea does lose (which I hope we don't) Maryville's streak will end at 74 because Henry County will spank them in the finals. The Brandon (FL) wrestling dynasty of 459 straight wins (30+ years and longest streak for ANY high school sport) ended last year so why not the Maryville football dynasty this year? Rhea - 42 Maryville - 38
  2. Andrew Campolattano {SO} (Bound Brook, NJ) - #3 at 189 in Win Magazine. Campolattano is one of only two underclassmen listed in the top 20 at 189 {#3 and #14 are Sophomore the rest are Seniors)
  3. Nathan Jones (Carson-Newman/Cleveland High School) NCAA DII All-American Cody Humphrey (Carson-Newman/Halls High School) NCAA DII All-American
  4. Win magazine has Luster {FR} (Woodberry Forest, VA) ranked #16 at 160 and Phillips {SO} (Monroeville, OH) is ranked #1 at 171. Of the 280 (top 20 in each weight) wrestlers ranked NONE where from TN.
  5. Cody Cleveland - Tullahoma (McCallie School) He is the only one I can think of off the top of my heard that isn't already listed
  6. Coach Bray, I wanted to tell you that I looked at your preseason rankings on tennesseewrestling.com and Hunter Daniel Graduated in 2008 the tssaa brackets had him listed as a junior last season but he was actually a senior. Hope that helps. -Barry Kauffman
  7. Go Rhea County! I hope cal preps dot com isn't right they predict a 31-28 Clinton win. I predict Rhea wins 42-35.
  8. OK thanks for the clarification guys. I still don't completely understand the new classifications but I'll learn. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

  10. Are we supposed to use current wrestlers or is this an all-time dream team?
  11. Yeah I knew that you meant he was the best from the county, but I was just clarifying. Roller was WAY WAY WAY BACK WHEN! he was drafted 18 years before I was even born. It's fun to learn about people from your alma mater (sorta)
  12. After looking at the new classifications I don't understand how the new regions will work because in 6A the schools seem to be spread out all over the place compared to the regions now. Can anyone clarify for me or give me their opinion on what the regions will look like? I'm from Rhea Co. and the only schools that make sense to me for this region would be: Rhea County McMinn County Soddy-Daisy Bradley Central Ooltewah Maryville Dobyns Bennett Farragut I am just guessing but this makes for a really spread out region. Anyone else have thoughts?
  13. Well I have never heard of David Roller because he never played for Rhea County because the first year at Rhea was 1974, three years after Roller was drafted. I'm going to guess and say that he played for Rhea Central High School back when it was around. He had to be a pretty amazing player to play 10 years in the NFL. And to Coldboy07 I personally know Casey and played with him for a few years and I know he was a great safety. I also know that D-1 coaches frown on 5' 9" 160 lbs. safeties. No doubt that Casey was great on offense and defense but I was making the observation that his size is what kept him from playing at the college level. Also Coldboy07, yes coaching is about making boys into men and setting a good example for the young men you coach but not to many schools will keep a coach that has more loses than wins around to long. So, in the end the wins and loses are really important to that coaches career. Not the most important but pretty important.
  14. I don't understand why you guys want to get on here and talk about the coaches being horrible when we are one game from the region championship and just knocked off Red Bank who has won it the last several years. Who cares if the coaches are horrible evidently they are doing something right because we are 7-1 so just drop it for now it's old and annoying. talk about it after the season. The boys need to stay focused now!
  15. What about the running back for the '81 team? Jamie Pankey! I have seen all the old game films from that year and he looked like a force. He was a very hard-nosed runner! It's hard to believe that noone mentioned him considering that he was the leading rusher on 1 of only 2 teams that made it to the state title game. I also believe he came within 100 or 150 yards of Alonzo Banks rushing record. Pankey also holds the records for most yards in a game and most rushing attempts in a game. As for Cory Wilson, he was a great football player but he prefered to get into trouble and have discipline and attitude problems so he was no where near as sucessful as he could have been. Casey McKinnon was to small to play anywhere. He was a great player that had a lot of heart but heart doesn't make up for being 5' 9" and 160 lbs. Has everyone forgotten Brandon McLeroy? I don't know how you could forget a guy that is 6' 5" and 325 lbs. Brandon is the starting right guard at MTSU. Caleb Wilson was a good quarterback. He had some problems with recievers dropping passes but alot of his interceptions were his fault for making bad reads and trying to force the ball. Caleb is playing at University of the Cumberlands and he is not starting. I am told by his Grandfather that he is really frustrated about it though.
  16. Now BCB did you leave 125 blank because you want to be humble and let someone else say that your boy Tee is gonna take that crown this year after the tough lose to my buddy from Rhea Co. last season? I'm using last years weights so some may be heavier 103: Hames (Bradley) 112: Sluder (Greenback) 119: Miller (Greenback) 125: Boone (Notre Dame) 130: Graham (Bradley) 135: Usary (Science Hill) 140: Ridenour (Maryville) 145: Bishop (Sullivan East) 152: Sinsheimer (Independence) 160: Proctor (Cookeville) 171: Young (Ooltewah) 189: Croy (Brentwood) 215: Worley (Hixson) 285: Peters (Cleveland) These are my guesses based on the State Tournament last year. I'm sure that Bradley will build a few more champions before February!
  17. IMHO.... The keys to success always have been and always will be Execution and Discipline. With that being said I will also say the "wanting it more" factor is what keeps the kids on the field executing on every play and staying disciplined late in the 4th of an extremely emotional game. Which this game is sure to be extremely emotional.
  18. I'm with you on this BCB Coach Eslinger will have the boys in blue ready for war this season.... You know them boys have a sour taste left in there mouth after the cross town Bears doubled there score at the Individual State.... I am going to take a calculated risk and say that Cleveland will be the team with the best shot at upsetting the Bears.. And as for the State Duals it would be nice to see an all Chattanooga final again....
  19. Besides the powers of BCHS and CHS who else is going to have a chance in the region? Indiviuals and team outlooks? I know that Rhea is going to be having a down year with the graduation of Henley, Daniels, and Graves.. Also Lil Nic Fuller has left for the yellow & black of Hixson.... :-/ Anyone else have any info on Region 3?
  20. Not to rain on your parade.... but have you forgotten Bradley Central and Cleveland????
  21. just another example to throw out there for your boy Ray Lewis (2 time FL state champ at 171)
  22. Well that is good that Soddy is good at the spread offense, but Rhea has ran the spread for the last 4-5 years and IMHO I would say they have a lil more experience then Soddy does at it. So if anyone has mastered it out of the 2 it would be Rhea and I know how hard it is to master I was on Rhea's team the 1st year they started running it.
  23. I would have to say Mike Kinney from a couple of years back in 05-06. IMHO.
  24. My sophmore year i was cutting 10-12 pounds a week for every match and i didn't really have the weight to lose I remember my coach asking me to make 145 from 152 on the day of a match; I was already over weight for 152 I ended up cutting 12 pounds in about 5 hours and then went to Red Bank High School and had a ref ask me if I was drunk because I was so dehydrated and tired I was wobbling on the scale, I ended up having to get an IV put in my arm and that stinks so when it comes to cutting weight no coach should make a kid cut weight.... with that being said a coach should however make his wrestler safely get to a weight that they would be competitive at and comfortably make without damaging his growth system.. this should be done during preseason and maybe christmas.. I believe without a doubt that cutting weight stunted my growth.. I have been 5' 9" and between 155 and 160 pounds since 8th grade.. my brother and father both are about 6' 1" and 170+ so something doesn't add up.. My words of wisdom to all young wrestlers is DO NOT CUT WEIGHT!!!! Also don't use diuretics or plastics or starvation these are all things I did and they just aren't healthy or worth it....
  25. I don't know for sure but it would make sense consdering the oldest Browning boy wrestled with me at C-N this year and Greenback is definately closer to jefferson city than cleveland
