  1. Vikings headed back to the boro!! Good Luck the rest of the way!! Represent West. Tenn basketball!!
  2. Just wanted to post this for all those people on here who contend that Bolivar is down this year and those who constantly pick Liberty to beat Bolivar. Little bit of information for you guys. Bolivar is 24-8 (w/ 5 of those losses coming to teams rank in the TOP 10 IN THE NATION!! On the other hand, Liberty has lost 3 games all year and guest what folks all 3 losses at the hand of Bolivar. Just because Bolivar has 8 losses you'll think they're down this year. You have to look at the quality of opponents they have played. Bolivar's tough schedule has prepped them for another run at the gold ball folks which would make it a 3 peat. Bolivar has Liberty's number folks. It's becoming a mental thing for the Crusaders. And that seemed evident from the game last nite with the ejection of the player for rough play on Kemp. Just wanted to post this for all those who think the Tigers are still down? Remember guys they're the 2-time defending champs and the Tigers are reaping the benefit of playin the best in the country during the regular season!!
  3. You should be able to hear the game on 1190 AM. That's the station for Viking sports.
  4. I agree with u slamdunker... I actually think Humboldt will come out of this district. I just dont want to hear the UC fans talkin bout they didnt have this player or that player. Maybe they'll say some starters had to miss the district tournament to get ready for baseball or golf season.
  5. Guys give me a break on this talk about whos played and who hasnt played for Union City in their wins or losses. As far as I know they had their full rosters in the lost @ Humboldt with the exception of one player from what I hear. I attended the game at UC and the guy that you all say didnt play @ Humboldt was pretty much a non factor in the game at UC. So I dont think he would have been much a factor in second game. Bottomline is the regular season is in its final stages and come district tournament its a whole new season!! I hope UC finally has all their players back for the new season so we wont have any excuses for an earlier exits.
  6. This was a stellar game last nite!! Two good teams going head to head in this one!! I thought Humboldt really stepped up defensively in second half of the game. That was the difference in the game (their defensive pressure late in the game). In the first half they werent guarding anybody (with the exception of Jackson on Weddle). The UC players were beating the Vikings off the dribble and getting offensive stick backs that propelled them to double digit lead at the end of the half. Late in the second half that was totally different. Humboldts pressure and the fans really rattled the toronados down the stretch (ultimately the difference in the game). Also, Johnson's play off the bench was huge for the Vikings as he made sum big shots that kept the Vikings in striking distance. This game was exactly played out like the first matchup in UC with the exception of key players from Humboldt being in foul trouble. In both games UC was up double figures and the Vikings battled back. The difference in these two games was that they didnt let Weddle get going earlier like he did in UC. Jackson (earlier in the game) and Johnson (late in the game) did great job defending Weddle (even though the kid made sum tough shots). Huge game for Smith!! He proved to be unstoppable off the dribble; Johnson off the bench; Epperson underneath the basket; Jackson's defensive effort on Weddle. These factors contributed to a big win for the Vikings!! Also, I was glad to see Humboldt beat UC with their key players (who sat out the game against Lake County). The fans were great on both sides with Humboldt and UC students sections cheering wildy. The atmosphere was electrying and similar to that of a big time college game!! BIG WIN FOR THE VIKINGS!!

  8. I find it hard to believe that Adamsville is ranked ahead of Middleton and host of other West Tenn teams that were left out (Union City, Lake County, & Humboldt). U take a look @ Adamsville key losses against competitive teams and its not even close: Tue Nov. 29 at Middleton L 72-106 Sat Dec. 3 McNairy Central L 44-63 Middleton wins by 34 and Adamsville is ranked ahead of them. Wow!! U look @ the losses that Middleton, Union City, Humboldt, & LC they havent been blow out games which speaks volume to level of competition and talent that teams have. Kind of hard to convince me that a team that has two losses by an average 27 pts. against high talented teams deserves a top 10 ranking in the state polls. Would like to hear others take on this.
  9. I'm tired hearing about Bolivars talent level being down and if this player and that player for Lexington had done this or that the outcome would have been different. You guys have to take in account that Bolivar @ (8-4) have went out played some of the best teams in country. You have to understand that those games will only make them better against West Tenn teams. Out of there 4 losses only Middleton Fayatte Ware have been the only local team to knock off Bolivar. I just think its ridiculous that people think that the talent level is down. Talent wise no team in their district has been able to beat them so I dont get how people think their talent level is down and no one expects them to three peat.
  10. Well it was evident tonite how valuable #40 (who was out with an ankle injury) is for the Vikings following their lost to Peabody in the Xmas tourney. I understand that one player does not make a team go but it was evident that they missed #40 both on the offensive and defensive side of the court. (Kinda hard to believe that a couple of weeks ago the Vikings beat the Tide by 21 pts and lose tonite by 2). The absence of #40 played a role in the Vikings lack luster performance tonite. He brings so much to the team on both sides of the court (with his length defensively and explosiveness off the floor on the offensive end). All in all it was a well played game for the most part. Just hard to grasp how the Vikings let this one slip away with a 7-8 pt. lead late in overtime. Have to give Peabody credit for battlin and stayin in the game down 8 late in overtime.
  11. Just wanted to know if anyone attended the Xmas tourney in Trenton and saw Bradford vs. Humboldt. I wanted to get your take on the unsportsmanlike play on the part of #24 of Bradford on one of the Humboldt players. #00 of Humboldt had gotten two dunks earlier in the game that excited the crowd and had stolen the ball again late in the third quarter and was goin up to throw one down again and was up ended by #24 intentionally. I was standin above the basket when it happened and saw the player intentionally go under #00!! I couldnt believe the player did that!! What made it even worst was that Bradford fans gave the player a standing ovation following his actions. That was really an classless act on the part of the player and the fans of Bradford!!! That kinda stuff is not what basketball is about!! Some action on the part of the school or TSSAA should be taken regarding this matter because this type of action is bad for the game and could get someone seriously hurt!! If anything the kid should be suspended from play for a couple of games. (And its seem to me the coach didnt have problem with the actions of his player because he could have easily turned to the Bradford fans and conducted them to stop applaudin the player's actions and stop his players from applaudin the player's actions!! BRADFORD'S UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT ON THE PART OF THE PLAYER AND THE FANS WAS ABSOLUTELY UNCALLED FOR AND THEY SHOULD BE EMBARASSED THAT THEY CONDONED SUCH PLAY!! I would like to commend #00 for his sportsmanlike conduct because he could have easily have lost his edge after that play!! That just shows that Humboldt has little more class than Bradford (not mention more talent and athleticsm than they do). Thats why I think the #24 of Bradford took it upon himself to up end #00 because Humboldt players were more atheltic and taller and were excitin the crowd with their dunks!! So he took it upon himself to try to put and end to that!! The play only ended up makin the Viking crowd cheer even louder!!
  12. Like Ive said before Humboldt has very talented team but they have not played in tough competition so for this season. Although they did scrimmage against Liberty, Middelton and Bolivar during camp. Other than those scrimmages they havent played any tough games. With matchups against Union City and Lake County after Xmas we will see how good the Vikings really are. I think there is a possbility that they could go undefeated if they are able to continue there dominance in 1A. Although I see them possibly losing only one or two games!! But look for them to make a deep run in postseason play.
  13. I think Humboldt has a very talented team and could end up in Murfreesboro come March. Humboldt hasn't really played any tough teams yet (winning by an average of 30 the last couple of games against district foes). After Christmas we will really find out how good the Vikings are when they face off against district foes Union City and Lake County. If they can get pass those two teams in convincing fashion then theres no question that they can go all the way!!
  14. I would have to agree with you on that one. When you pick of the Jackson Sun during the fall, theres no question of what you will find in the sports section. You'll find previews of high school football, west tenn football rankings, fearless pick ems, and so on. And when college football kicks off, you'll find the entire back page of the sports section dedicated to UT football (who's home for the holidays). Any how I myself would like to see more coverage of west tenn basketball. Would like to see the Jackson Sun cover basketball like they do football!! I would have to agree with you on that one. 15. With out a doubt Willie Kemp is the Best PG in West TN. This guy is the real deal!! Seen him play several times and he is a true PG. He makes everyone around him better!! This guy can score and can put the clamps down on u defensively!! Is the heart of the Bolivar team! Can't wait to see this guy in a U of M jersey next year!!
  16. It would have been nice to see Middleton take on Humboldt in the season opener that was cancelled. Then we would know whos the best team in 1A!! Humboldt is loaded and ready to make a run at another state tournament appearance.
  17. Just wanted to see if any of you have had the chance to watch the Humboldt boys play in the ball the past of couple of weeks of this young season. Wanted to see what ur take was on these guys. These guys are loaded with talent. With 3 returnin starters and several role players these guys are good. If the coach is smart he could have a 10 man rotation (have guys that can come off the bench and contribute). If hes smart in utilizin his bench these guys just might be crowned state champs in Class A.
  18. Question regarding the allegation of Arkansas transfer?? Wonderin when Bolivar became an NCAA institution with all this transfer talk!! Aside from that, I think if Chism plays 2morrow tonite Bolivar should win a close one in Jackson. The combo of Kemp and Chism (if hes healthy) bodes well for the Tigers.
