The NCAA is really looking to develop this, there are scholarships available, it's just not highly publicized. The NCAA requires equal scholarship distribution at the Div.1 level. Several high school girls in the area are now taking up golf. Tennis is also another avenue for scholarships.

My assumptions were not of you personally but of new parents in general. This happens every year, 'why doesn't this team get any press coverage and why does that team'. I think there was an earlier post that explained this best. You seem to be infatuated with this Lausanne team. I don't follow girls baskeball much until state tournament time but I have never seen or heard of this team anywhere until this year and I've lived in Nashville for 20+ years. Are they a new startup school like Ensworth in Brentwood? How did they become such great program overnight with no previous history or mention prior to this year?

Philtenn, you must be a newbie to HS varsity sports, is this your daughters and her friends first year playing HS basketball? I would advise new parents not to be so self-serving and be patient, if their kids can play they'll get their press coverage and recognition. 'Rome wasn't built in a day'. Freshmen and underclassmen playing varsity and contributing is great but not worth getting upset because they don't make the local newspaper, patience is a virtue. Any serious coach or player knows that rankings are worth about as much as the paper they are written on. Do the USC Trojans coaches and players think because they are ranked #1 and that Texas is ranked #2 means they are going to win. Put less emphasis on rankings and press coverage and more on how the team performs, being ranked in the local paper won't make your daughters team or her friends team play any better, if anything it adds more unwanted pressure. Remeber rankings are just that, a ranking. The teams that focus on getting to Nashville or Murfreesboro in March will have the only ranking that really matters, State Champion. I don't receive the Memphis paper, thanks for the listing though.

There has always been good freshmen and underclassmen that play well at the varsity HS level, so why now are you suddenly so enamored with this class, only reason, your daughter must be in this class. Don’t worry the reporters will write about your daughter and her friends soon enough.
