  1. I couldn't agree more. Kelley is a much better all around player. I, as a Franklin fan, actually enjoy watching Drew play. He's a great player and a good kid! Don't know Morris personally so I can't comment on his character but I wasn't really impressed with him tonight. He's good but he's not above average.
  2. Well......let's say the whole ending-the-streak thing worked out about as well as the whole black out the rebels theme tonight. Maybe they should have said block out the rebels. Franklin DOMINATED Ravenwood. Glover had a very impressive first half. This was a great game to watch. NO MERCY! Watch out Indy...you're next!!
  3. Phillyfan, don't let these kids get to you. They're probably getting on the message boards during study hall. Personally, I'd rather beat Ravenwood then anyone else in the district or outside of the district for that matter. Let them talk smack all they want. We'll see what happens Friday. Go Rebels!
  4. Philly Cheese Steak.....how original. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  5. That doesn't even warrant a response. See you tonight! Go Rebels!
  6. Seriously dude...when you gonna grow up? If you've got such an obsession with Phillyfan then why don't you two pick a time and place to meet up and shake hands and put a face with a name. If not...then why don't you try and NOT mention him in EVERY SINGLE POST YOU MAKE!
  7. Oh I see what you mean now. Tonight should be interesting. I can't wait!
  8. I'm not sure what you mean by the coaches comment
  9. I agree Antioch looked good but Franklin looked really weak. I have no doubt they will pull it together but the time to do that is now!
  10. I agree CHS - let's talk basketball Ballin - Do the words "Let it drop" mean anything to you? Seriously!!
  11. Is that not the point of a message board moron...to express YOUR opinion??? Chill out "Ballin" apparently he knows something. Let's let the season speak for itself.
  12. I could not DISAGREE with you more. The coach at Franklin is not the only reason Franklin will be good......although that is a factor......Franklin will be good because of Michael Young, Kevin Kegarise, Reed Glover, Jamal Starnes, Eric Brown, Peyton Henry, the list goes on and on. RAVENWOOD WILL NOT BEAT FRANKLIN!!
  13. WHATEVER!! We'll see come December 7th!
  14. "Michael is a lot of peoples hero. He is becoming a great player and more importantly is a great kid. " I couldn't agree more! The thing though is all the guys on the Franklin team are GREAT kids!!!!!!
  15. So glad to be back and talking b'ball!!! Can't wait for the season to start!!! My prediction is that Franklin will be on top yet again. There is just too much talent there. They lost some key seniors BUT there is so much depth there. At first glance they appear to be a young group but after their success this summer in AAU I'd say they are once again the team to beat. Michael Young is my hero! GO REBELS!
  16. Long Range: Tough loss reveals Franklin coach's softer side By JONATHAN LONG Staff Writer I believe the saying is "It's lonely at the top," but whoever said that must never have been a step away from the top. Because I'm pretty sure that is an even lonelier place. As the Division I state tournament begins today in Murfreesboro, I can't help but think back to March 5, when Franklin High's Rebels suffered a tough loss to Clarksville High School in the sectional round. Vivid is the image of Franklin coach Jay Johnson tossing his coat to the floor and walking over to a gate blocking a hallway in the Clarksville gymnasium. As a small group of parents and I waited outside the locker room area, we didn't need X-ray vision to know what was going on as Johnson, with his back turned to us, leaned up against that gate and buried his head in his forearm. There he was, one of the most calm and collected coaches I've ever met, showing that emotional bond he shared with those kids. He stood there silent, wishing that it could have been different, wishing that he could have it to do all over, wishing that they could have known what it was like to feel how he once felt. This wasn't just about basketball; this was about wanting them to truly see the result of hard work. "I wanted them to experience (the state tournament)," said Johnson, who was the starting point guard for the 1989 Franklin team that won the state title. "It makes it so much harder. I wanted this for them. That's where the disappointment is for me." The scene last week is one that's experienced in many locker rooms minutes after a team's season has ended. However, this one had the emotion that rivals anything ABC's done this season — even the near death of Meredith Grey. But throughout the tears, hugs and embraces that were given among the players and coaches, it was Johnson's demeanor that told the story of the Rebels' season — from that powerful moment at the gate to the way he gathered himself to speak with me, speaking with the unwavering voice of a man who wasn't about to let anyone outside of his basketball family see just how sad he was. I always found it peculiar that during halftime he and the coaching staff met outside the locker room to discuss a plan of action before addressing the team. And why he rarely called a timeout in the first three quarters, even if it seemed like his team was in dire need of one. But after seeing the emotions of his players going into that locker room after the game, and how he handled them, it was evident just how much they looked up to their coach. He provided them with a living symbol of collective intensity, of someone who kept it together and worked through situations instead of allowing frustration to set its course. "I couldn't have asked for a better coach," said Derek Batt, the team's emotional leader. "He's a great coach. Not just a great coach, but a great person." The confidence that Johnson embodied rubbed off directly to the souls of those kids. It made them believe that no team other than Franklin ever had a chance to win a District 11-AAA title. It made Ryan Glover really believe that, when his feet are set, he's the best shooter in the county and that despite being a sophomore, Michael Young could lead a team of seniors as their point guard. But, most importantly, he taught this group of young men to never bow their heads in the face of adversity. Which is why, when they left that locker room, with the hurt and pain of a season-ending loss on their shoulders, they did so with their heads held high.
  17. CONGRATS REBELS!! Great Win!! As said by Coach Harrick...the energy in that place was AMAZING!!!! When other players from Centennial, coaches from within the District and even within the Region come up to Coach after the game to tell him that HE deserves this as well as his team.....that shows a lot. FranklinHSFan - you are obviously outnumbered!! I must agree that in this case....you are an idiot. Anyone who can say that Jay Johnson gets outcoached OBVIOUSLY HAS a grudge against him!! That's just ridiculous! LOOK AT HIS NUMBERS....THEY SPEAK FOR THEMSELF!!! GO REBELS!!!
  18. I heard the same thing. Also, Coach Johnson from Franklin got Coach of the Year.
  19. Furthermore....if you are a Franklin Fan....STOP TELLING PEOPLE!! WE DON'T WANT FANS LIKE YOU!
  20. I normally do not jump in the discussions regarding these juvenile "he said she said" issues but I will strongly disagree with the statement above about Coach Johnson being a low down person and unfortuantely for you....so do most people on this board. You may not like his style of coaching. You might not like the fact that Franklin has beat Centennial several times in recent years. That's fine! You don't have to like that but when you personally attack someone that shows your maturity level. You and whoever the heck Montay is obviously do not know Jay Johnson as a person because he is the farthest thing from a "low down person".
  21. Franklin at Brentwood cancelled but not yet rescheduled
  22. Should be interesting to see if Ravenwood and Centennial still play
  23. Yeah and apparently the reason has nothing to do with the weather!! LET UM PLAY!!!
