  1. I do not think they should change the number of teams who make the state tournament. One change I think they need to make is the way they pair the teams up in the brackets. Personally, I would rather see them draw out the pairings like they used to do. This added a little intrigue to the week and assured everyone a fair chance when they got to the state tournament. No one could complain about their pairings because it was just the "luck of the draw." Besides, it doesn't matter when teams play each other. In the end, the best team is going to win the tournament.
  2. Clay County's starting lineup looks like this: 5'9'' Ferrell 5'10'' Godwin 5'10'' Walden 6'1'' Kerr 6'5'' Rich They also bring two guys off the bench: 5'11'' Knight 6'0'' Hewitt As for the game, I look for Clay County to win this one. I watched Wayne County last year against Pickett County, and I believe Wayne lost three starters off that team. Clay will be too much in the end. I look for them to pull away in the fourth just like they always do. Clay by 12.
  3. It is early to project next season, but here are my predictions: 1. RBS- return all but one player off a state tournament team. Jordan will be missed but I look for the other players to improve and make up for the loss. Also, Leonard will be a year older which will allow her to be stronger and more mature. They appear to have all the pieces in place for another run next season. 2. Jackson County- lose three starters off the possible state championship team this season.. Dyer, Maxwell, and Sevier will team with 6'6'' Ferris to form a very balanced lineup. Look for this team to be the best defensive team in the district. 3. Clarkrange- will be a down year by their standards, but there is still plenty of talent to finish in the top tier of this district. Phillips will be the go-to player, but the Buffaloes will need some help handling the ball. 4. Clay County- only lose two players, albeit a very good one in Watson. Plenty of talent returns led by probably the most athletic player in the district, Copas, and two very capable guards. 5. Pickett County- return three starters and should improve in their second season under Painter. This team could be dangerous if Smith learns to play closer to the basket and Wright decides to play hard and use her teammates. 6. Monterey- showed some flashes this season, but will miss Harris. I don't expect much next season, but Adkins did prove to be a big-time scorer at times. 7. Hermitage Springs- the loss of King will hurt more than losing any other player in the district. She did more for her team than anyone else, so I don't look for them to win a game in the district.
  4. From a non-RBS fan, I want to congratulate the Lady Bulldogs on a great season. I watched you girls play on numerous occasions this year and I was always impressed with the way your team acted on the court. Best of luck next season. Keep working and don't just assume that you will get another chance next season at the Murphy Center. The other teams will be gunning for you now, so be sure to work even harder in the offseason.
  5. I agree with you TopDawg in that a team should not openly cheer against another team at any game. I can understand these girls not wanting RBS to win today because they are teenagers and yes, jealousy does play a part in it. These teams would have given anything to be there playing today but they also probably didn't want a team from their district or region to do well in the tournament. I am sure this happens all the time at the state tournament, but it is disappointing that they would openly cheer against RBS.
  6. Yeah, who is that in the picture? That guy can really get up!
  7. 45-42 Forrest with 12 seconds left and RBS turned it over after a timeout. Forrest makes one of two from the free throw line to win 46-42.
  8. 30-29 RBS at the end of the third quarter.
  9. 24-23 RBS lead with 3:30 left in the third quarter.
  10. I guess I was wrong if two people from Jackson County believe that Cassety made it. My mistake.
  11. I agree 100% with you, Bob77. There are enough good teams in our area for RBS to play. I recommend they set up a couple of games with both Upperman and Livingston next year. Both of these teams will be good, but I believe RBS can hold their own. If you are out there Larry White, drop Watertown and Trousdale County and add these two teams to next year's schedule. I promise it will help you out in the long run. Here's another suggestion: I know you all have your own Christmas tournament, but if you can fit it in your schedule, play in the Mid-South Classic in Cookeville. This is the best tournament in the area and will help prepare your girls for postseason play.
  12. No, I don't believe Cassety made the all-tournament team. I think it was Crowder from Jackson County. Also, I believe it was Gibson who made it from Pickett County. I may be wrong on these two, but I am also pretty sure that Pickett got three.
  13. I will try and get as many right as I can. If I miss any or leave anyone out, then someone correct me. MVP-Courtney Dyer JC Kris Ross JC Kristi Apple JC Laken Leonard RBS Ashton Gentry RBS Kelly Rich RBS Jordan Ramsey Clarkrange Ashley Howard Clarkrange Meghan Watson Clay County Williams girl from Clay County (not sure on her first name)
  14. I think this will be a close game throughout with Red Boiling Springs winning in the final minutes. I was looking on Forrest's schedule and they have beaten some good teams and played well against some tough competition. They seem to have a good team, but I think RBS will be too much down the stretch. And as for jamieroper, you obviously have not seen Leonard play in a while. She is their best player right now and seems to get better each game. She is pretty much unstoppable in a one-on-one matchup. Just ask Clarkrange and Jackson County. I am sure they will tell you that you have to double team her or she will score almost every time. I don't care if she is in second grade, this girl can play. Good luck RBS and also Jackson County. Here's hoping for an all 7A final.
  15. I don't believe I was chewing you out, I was just saying that it isn't fair to say Jackson County would have won more in A. I definitely think they would have, and I even said that in my last post, but that is only if they had the same team. All I was trying to say in the first place is that Jackson County probably wouldn't have had the same team if they had been in A. Don't get mad at me for just stating the facts. I have nothing against the Jackson County program and I was cheering for them throughout the four-peat. I really enjoyed watching those girls play and I think Jim Brown is a great coach. By the way, I think Shelbyville would have won more state championships in the 1990s had they been in A.
