  1. Dyersburg and Cannon County is who he named.
  2. A friend of mine from JC sent me an article today that quotes Eliz's coach as saying he is pleased with the draw and that the two teams he did not want to face in the first round were in the opposite bracket, so perhaps BigBama is just reflecting what their coach is saying. Of course coach Dugger goes on to say that all the teams are good and losses don't mean anything at this point, but the jist of the article is both he and the sportswriter like Eliz's draw.
  3. Well thats not correct. It must be called at the start of the game. At least it wasnt in the second half. IF those were the same uniforms CPA wore yesterday then something just isnt right.
  4. They actually lost four other games this year. I hope Prider is a student, given their post history I've seen on these recent threads. If not, thats one immature adult... Cyclones had a great season; and have a bright future. However fans like Prider and Bama make coaches crazy.
  5. Good showing by Elizabethton. Nothing to hang their heads about. Lets go CAK. We need at least one UET team in the AA finals. Exactly when was the technical foul called?
  6. This thread is an disgrace to both schools----Elizabethton and Grainger. You "children" need to grow up or shut up!!! Show class and sportsmanship in winning and losing. It really shows ones true character.
  7. Hey Grainger, need some locker room motivation-----read the Johnson City Press article by Douglas Fritz posted online, linked below and in the friday print edition. In it he points out how Grainger waltzed into the Regional last year with its 29-2 record and proceeded to almost get beat by Happy Valley, have to go OT to beat Greeneville and then lose to Chuckey Doak. Fritz builds his Cyclones up and picks the Cyclones to win the Regional with Happy Valley the darkhorse. No Respect for the number one team in the state. Prove him wrong Grizzlies! http://www.johnsoncitypress.com/Sports/article.php?id=104973
  8. Elizabethton is a very skilled well coached team. Their little point guard is what makes them go. Fulton's run to get back in the game took place while she was on the bench with foul trouble. All five players on the floor are capable of scoring. Their only loss was to CAK and that was after they beat CAK by 30 earlier. They havent played alot of close games this year, and I dont think teams have tried to press them much as they have good handlers and a very quick skilled point guard. They slice and dice on offense and all their kids can and will shoot the 3. Their weakness would be that they dont go more than 6 or 7 deep, and they are a smallish bunch---nobody that plays is over about 5-9. But they do rebound well. And they defend the half court very well. If they are shooting the 3 ball well, they are going to be tough for any team to beat. If they get McMinn Central in the semis, it will be interesting to see how McMinns press works against Eliz. I dont think many teams have tried to press them. Eliz does have a good press but only use it if they get behind due to the limited use of their bench. Im sure Cannon's coach is getting tape from CAK and Fulton's coaches and Eliz's coach is getting tape as well. Eliz played in the state two years ago so most of the starters have prior experience. This side of the bracket is loaded in my opinion. I think the three teams playing the best ball are Cannon Eliz and McMinn Central. This bracket also has to play three in three days which means conditioning and fatigue will be big come friday and saturday for the team that survives out of the bracket. Now what does Cannon County bring to the table?
  9. Sparky you know I was at the game. And as I said on another thread, you ego and arrogant comments are a disservice to the EHS team. But I somewhat understand as you are one of Dugger's boys, as your comments above confirm. Seems coachh is much more balanced in his perspective and analysis. I bet he didnt play for or coach with/for Dugger. Sparky, the true test of a "bench" is how its used in tight games-----seven players is not using your bench. If your bench could start for any TC team, then why didnt your coach use it last night?
  10. Sparky, I knew you were a parent, but your level of arrogance tells me that you played for Dugger when he was boys coach. Am I wrong? To say that EHS is 15 pts better than a team that just beat them straight up is arrogant and egotistical. Care to say how many points EHS is better than CD, SG and Gville?
  11. Very good post Sparky. From my view tonight, it appeared that Dugger has not developed his bench. I heard a couple of ELiz fans talking about how he keeps his starters in the game too long even in blow outs like the Unicoi game last week. Big confidence boost for CAK and Region Two tonight.
  12. Tonight was the first game I have seen EHS play this year. They are a very good team but nowhere near as dominant as their record indicates. Its no secret that District One is down except for EHS. District Two is more competitive and although EHS swept SG and Gville this year, that wont mean much in two weeks, just like their blowout of CAK two weeks ago didnt mean anything tonight. And Chucky Doak is very good in D2. The Region One tourney will not be the EHS Invitational like some may have thought. On the other hand this takes some pressure off EHS and may actually help them get down the road. It does show they are beatable though. I think Region Two took offense at EHSs sports information director Fritzs article in the JC paper a week or so ago which stated that Region Two was way way down this year and Region One should have two teams in the Boro this year. Yep that article made its way to several teams in Region Two. Remember Glenn Fishers boy coaches at Fulton....... The bigger they are the harder they fall
  13. sparky just a correction. Weems took the lady cyclones through 2007 summer camp, so the cyclones were not in limbo----Cara Bowling going to HV as a freshman was already cast when Weems left after summer camps were done in late summer 2007. It did take the eliz admin awhile to fill his spot as the director of schools did not want dugger back as a head coach; actually dugger was about the fourth choice for the job. The old wounds and new wounds had not fully healed. Turns out he was an excellent choice. But your premise that Cara did not go to EHS as a freshman due to coaching limbo at Etown is absolutely incorrect. I know what I speak Mr K. Cara no doubt left HV after the talent pool went down when Banks and company graduated. They beat your cyclones at home on a Cara last second shot her sophomore year and they also beat EHS her freshman year at the Valley. Cara left when Len allowed daddy Dale to take over the Cyclone aau off season program in the summer of 2009. Len is a great coach but has no integrity. I am no longer in the UET area but have friends and family that keep me up to date and a lepoard doesnt change his spots. I understand the Dugger is always recruiting talent to his school. A Hampton teacher tells me that he went after two Hampton freshman last summer and struck out. He aspires to the Just Win Baby philosophy. And is successful at it. Remember he learned from Buck and Jerry....... Remember Elvin Brown, Leslie Brunn, and those recruits from the seven seas?.......
  14. If its not a legitimate move into the city school district, then TSSAA will rule her ineligible. Don't think for one minute it won't be monitored. HV will see to that. Anytime there is a transfer from a rival, especially while in the middle of their high school career, there are team chemistry issues to deal with. Feelings will be hurt. Mommies and Daddies will be mad. It can "make" a team; or break one apart.
  15. sparky, I saw Elizabethton play parts of a couple games and they will be good again this coming year, but I suspect you already know that. The HV transfer will definitely help. They will need to play a different style without the D-1 caliber post players they have had the last several years. Dugger is a good coach and will have them ready come Feb. A return to state is not out of the question for them
