  1. Boyd hammers Unaka by how ever many they want. This will not be a contest. Boyd goes through Hampton too, without any problems.
  2. Seriously........come up with a better name than that.
  3. Let's get the record straight! No one in Rockwood is overlooking Oliver Springs, but We are definitely chomping at the bit to play this bunch. They are a quality team and deserve to be in the playoffs. They have put up a bunch of points over the last few weeks. We are only focussed on this week. It is a home game and we are looking forward to a great crowd. As for the last comment, Oz was offered to play Rockwood 3 years ago, and didn't because they were going to be in the playoffs, and didn't want to play Rockwood twice. Rockwood already had commitments to other teams this year that weren't afraid to play us three years ago. Anyway...it doesn't matter who "dodged" who! We are playing this week!
  4. Great win for Rockwood against Harriman. It seems that Rockwood is a little banged up, but has come out healthier than first expected. It is great that this first round stays in the county. Oliver Springs didn't look like they were going to make it in the middle of the season, but they turned it around. They have put up some points as of late. Rockwood has kept points down, and has also put up some points. Looking forward to Friday night!
  5. Self Righteous...ask Grace Baptist of Knoxville. Yes, I am salty about it. Ask my basketball coach, and more importantly talk to our former players from the 08-09 season (Sub-state game). 2 violations. Personally, they need to put all the privates in one division and the publics in another. Let Grace play in a district with CAK, Webb, Knox Catholic. We would have loved to have some of the athletes Boyd-Buchannan had. They were a great ball team! Yes, they were beaten by public school for the championship, I admit that.
  6. I will add one more question. How many businesses sponsered the event? Most businesses will buy the T-shirts, toss money in to be able to sell equipment to participants, or even pay for the charter bus. I guess that really puts me over the top for asking questions, so I will quit on that one.
  7. Having been involved in putting on not for proffit combines in the past, a good portion of that $25 likely goes towards insurance covering both the organizer and the student/athlete, and the rest likely goes to a T-shirt and possibly facility charge. $25 isn't out of line. The money probably covers a t shirt and snacks/gatorade and bottled water. 25 isn't bad, but a t-shirt runs about between 6-7 dollars...Plus what about Sponsors? Wasn't it sponsored by businesses?
  8. That is easy for you to say. We play in a district with a private school who was just busted for TSSAA violations, and We have a tradition of winning-State Semi's this year. We would have killed to have some of Boyd-Buchannan's athletes. They were the better team. As far as Tennessee being behind the country, and high school coaches not getting their players out there, come on. Be honest, if a kid is good enough, colleges will find him. You can't be serious about the athletes in Tennessee. Look at how many D-1 atheltes pour out of Texas, Florida, Ohio, Georgia...Tennessee can't come close. Look at UT's roster, and Carson Newman's roster...that info speaks loudly. Don't get me wrong, I would love for our boys in Tennesee to Dominate, but the truth is what it is.
  9. I must have hit a nerve asking pretty simple questions. I find it hard to believe that 300+kids, plus parents, and coaches didn't ask anything.
  10. So if 300 kids sign up @ $25.00 a pop=7500.00, where is all that money going? What is in it for the kids? What is in it for the promoters?
  11. It is a disgrace that some people in the media paint GCA out as a victim. This is the second offense. That is why GCA's basketball coach is gone. Pridemore from Florida was given the same "gift" to come and play. The question of morality comes to mind: If the kid or kids had not been an athletes able to help the team, would GCA still given them money? It sure looks like winning was the #1 priority and character and everything else was tossed aside. Own the mistake for what it is. Honestly, this goes to show that TSSAA should put all private schools in their own division, so they could recruit and pay "gifts" to athletes all they wanted.
  12. The problem with any program whether it is Christian or not is that the priority switches from teaching young men and women character, responsibility, and work ethic to Just win at all costs, or do whatever benefits you the most. The worst part about all of this is that it is adults: Coaches, Parents, and Community people who are pushing this kind of attitude towards these kids. The consolation round the other night between Midway and Grace was a joke. Both teams were intentionally trying to lose. All because Oliver Springs is on probation and cannot hold a home game. The loser of the game between MHS and GC would get/has a home game with Oliver Springs. The winner drove to Jellico. Grace didn't play their starters very much if any, and Midway was sandbagging. It makes you wonder what Coaches are thinking. The focus of high school sports in some programs is so far from what it should be: Character, work ethic, responsibility, giving your best all the time, no matter what! Integrity and character are the two most important things that we can teach our players. It is unfortunate that the Grace boys basketball program has become more about winning and less about Christian Principals. The actions from last year, as well as this year prove that. Actions always speak louder than words. This also gives us Christians a black eye because it shows the world a hypocritical view point. Something that we preach not to be about. I hope the TSSAA puts the hammer down on Grace to humble them. I also hope that it will cause some to look in the mirror and realize what is most important...character.
  13. Good luck to both teams. I am not sure who to pull for. I lean towards Trousdale because it is a public school, but I would like to think that Boyd-Buchanan is the best for pride reasons. Good luck to both teams. Stay healthy. May the best team win.
  14. Private....You have no class. If our coaches were "cussing" and banging on tables why did it take three weeks to bother you. It seems you have a case of sore loser. Boyd-Buchanan...good luck you whipped our tales. We had a great season. Private, next time have enough guts to call the coaches out if they really did what you say they were doing. I also don't see how banging on tables is a crime. 5 turnovers would cause some coaches to jump off a bridge. Enough about the past. Good luck to both 2A teams playing in the championship. You deserve it! Keep everyone healthy and safe. May the best team win.
  15. Congrats to Boyd Buchanan. Good Luck at State. To answer any questions, we played horrible in the first half. We made a lot of mistakes we don't normally make. Boyd is a great team and it showed last night. It really hurt us when we fumbled the kickoff and they scored on it. They are well coached and did a great job! We look to reload for next year, but have some questions that will need to be answered. Good Luck again to Boyd.
  16. We always adjust so that we can run it better, or run plays that are left open that we haven't run in weeks. Our offensive playbook is deep. We adjust defensively too. Ask our previous opponents.
  17. Boy it got quiet quick! HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Week Fooooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen! You know it! We are excited about coming down to Bucnooga. We run all sorts of stuff Buc55. We run whatever we need in order to set us up to win. Hope you all stay healthy. We came out of Hampton in pretty good shape. #24 is walking around so well a week after major knee surgery, we might suit him up. It is unbelievable. We are going to be tossing around 25 lbs. turkeys instead of the football this week in honor of Turkey Day (Thanksgiving) We got a lot to be thankful for. Peace, love, and happiness.
  18. Let me clarify something too. Our rag-tag line is the biggest reason why our backs are able to run the football. #25 gave some love to them in the Roane County News. Everyone on our team knows that as our line has gotten better together, our team has gotten better together. We are playing well because we are playing as one.
  19. Hooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Week FOURRRRRRRRRRRRRTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN! There is no doubt that we got respect for Boyd, just as we had respect for Oneida, and Hampton. To say we are just coming to lay down...That ain't happening! We are not intimidated. We have played in one of the toughest regions in the state for the past 7 years. Alcoa has been one of the top teams in the state. Loudon is a great team, and CAK is also a great team. To say that we are the same team we were against Tellico Plains, Grace or even Bledsoe Co. is a lie. We are playing the best football we have played all year long. 100 yards by three different backs. The funny thing is we have another back just waiting to blow up. We continue to get better each week. Our rag-tag line has got a ton of heart and determination. Our team is the superstar, not individuals. We can throw the ball if we need to, and our quarterback has a cannon for an arm. We would much rather smashmouth, our lineman would much rather smashmouth. Our defense has given up 135 points in 13 games. Our offense averages 25 points a game. We play good fundamental football and we win as a TEAM. Boyd is a tough challenge, but we are preparing to do what we do...Be physical, Protect the Football, and Play as a Team!
  20. Yah, we are going to have some blue on us, but it will be on our helmets, because we are all about knockin some heads....HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! We are loading the buses in 30 minutes. We do get stronger as we go longer! You Smell it? Ain't no but whippin going to take place, just smashmouthin and slobberknockin! We expect to be hit, but we expect to do a whole lotta hitting to. You dig it!
  21. We don't have lights on the practice field and we sure don't have names on the jerseys. Neither of them matter. We play for the green and gold, for 420 students plus, for 5,500 people of Rockwood. HOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAH! You Smell it? We Ready! We Ready!
  22. HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! You know what time it is? It is Play-off time babeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Week 13! You smell it? The Tigers get stronger as we go longer babeeeeeeeeeeeeee! HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! It is gonna be a smashmouth, slobberknocking, throw-down in Hampton tonight. We are loading up the band, the cheerleaders, the school, even the cafeteria ladies are coming. We Ready! We Ready!
  23. Classy post crow! Let it be known that we practice in the dark without lights. We don't need them! It is no secret what these two teams are going to try to do to each other. I can't wait for Friday to come. We will be bringing a crowd. We are used to playing in hostile environments, and we like it! We Ready! We Ready!
  24. Oneida is a great ball team. Rockwood is also pretty good. We have only given up 121 points. We have scored 300. Hmm...300 will be a great movie to watch on the way to Hampton, since we are the underdog. We have been pretty good at holding the line, when it matters most. The 4th quarter seems to be when we are our strongest. I wonder if Coach Webb will walk back from Hampton, the same as Harriman?
  25. Hey, where did you get that picture? That was back in the early eighties. Man I had nice legs. No one would recognize me now.
