  1. This is no different than the current rule
  2. lol OK I think we are reading 2 different things... when the bylaw states that the "sending" school must approve the transfer as a no athletic reason transfer, then that is never gonna happen... The way I read the bylaw, it is not automatic eligible unless the "SENDING" school says that its for non athletic reasons... the new bylaw doesn't say anything about the school where the kid is transfer to.
  3. Yes the "sending" school... has to approve... and change of residency doesn't require a hardship... I cant find any difference in the new bylaw and the old No "sending" school is gonna say its not for athletic reasons unless they don't care if the kid leaves.
  4. I thought the article says the school has to say that it isn't for athletic reasons???? Did I not read that?? Here is the QUOTE: The new bylaw allows students one free transfer to another school due to reasons of significant academic, social-emotional, environmental or mental health need as long as the sending school’s administration could attest the move is not for athletic or disciplinary reasons. That is the same as it is now
  5. I may be wrong, but the way the rule reads... nothing changed... You could transfer without moving and file a hardship for all those reason before... TSSAA ruled on the hardship and decided eligibility... Am I missing something?
  6. I believe its 2 fold... 1st because as stated before ... good records give job security... but IMHO the bigger reason is overall record is the 1st tie breaker for playoffs and seeding... and you dont get credit points for playing up or a better team... its based solely on wins and losses.
  7. It will pass tomorrow and go into effect at the end of basketball season
  8. pretty sure Hickman is filled
  9. Sequatchie was not listed on the list of teams that appealed to be moved... if they appealed it was in secret and unofficially. All of the appeals were heard live over the net
  10. The better question would be who will come out of the West to finish 2nd and who will play Alcoa in the semis... No one is beating Alcoa
  11. I don't think anyone thinks college has it the way it should be now... I truly hope the college debacle doesn't trickle down to high school
  12. The magnet schools definitely have the potential to be a gold mine. They select kids to come to their school "randomly" based on certain criteria. If they figure out how to let the right ones in and control the number they let in (which they do), then they could easily get 10 D1 guys to come and play in whatever class they decide to cut the number off at.
  13. I think there has to be something done about the academies and the COOPs. If School A has 390 kids... and school B has 420 but gets a COOP from a school that has 500 then it will be extremely hard to compete against a team pulling its players from a pool of over twice as many student. And then the academy thing... regardless of who is doing it or what reason they attach to it, A big % of the schools doing it are using it to drop a class in athletics. Granted that's not the only reason it may have been started, it is a LOOP HOLE the the TSSAA needs to fix. I think the thing that bothers me and maybe some others... is the fact that the TSSAA ADMIN and BOC all knew about this loop hole and knew it was being used as a get around to drop classes but it was allowed to stay a loop hole until word got out... now that say its to late to address it, and next opportunity will be 4 years away when hopefully people are upset about something else and forget about it.
  14. from my understanding if it passes... Kids can play for school A in the 1st round of the playoffs... transfer the following Monday and play for school B in the 2nd round... Opening Pandora's box like the NCAA has imho
  15. They don't just make money of the RBS people ... those So Pitt faithful buy tickets too... and yes they pay about 1k for officials at most... so while its not millions 2k times 16 is 32k from 1A 32k for 2A 32k from 3A and so on ... that 192k from 1st round games that if they cut teams getting in back the TSSAA would not receive... and that on the low end... some of those 23 matchups bring big money in I agree something has to be done... its terrible, but TSSAA is making money off of it and that's why it wont go away
