  1. Wow, that is such sad news. Our prayers go out to his family. KWoodroff, I agree with your comment . . . it does put all of this in perspective.
  2. Thanks tornadofan10 . . . I was trying to figure the best way to respond and you took the ball and ran with it . . .
  3. BGA gave BA a great game (better than the score would indicate in my opinion). Ensworth just beat Smyrna 30-14 and many thought Smyrna was the best team in the mid-south. There is a difference between making an observation that I could argue is factual and rubbing someone's nose in it. If anyone from BGA took offense at my remark I apologize.
  4. Congratulations to MBA - sounds like this game was a good one. Any word on the official? We lost a really good man at a BA pre-season game 3 years ago (a TSSAA ref and a BA dad)and when I heard about the official going down tonight it made my heart miss a beat. He is certainly in our prayers . . .
  5. Sometimes you just have to win the ugly ones . . . Congrats to BA, but if we play like that on Thursday, Ensworth will win big. I thought that BGA came out ready to play and BA had maybe spent to much time reading their press. I don't know the final count, but I'll bet BA had more penalties in this game than their other games combined. BGA was game, but in the end, BA's speed killed them. BGA's quarterback Beathard was fun to watch. He kept taking shots (I think BA's Woody Baron hit him hard about 12 times alone) and he kept getting up. He's a gamer. I was struck by the fact that as we left the field, BA was playing "The Boys of Fall" which is becoming a bit of a BA tradition (can you have a tradition after only 3 home games?). I'm pretty sure it was written by Beathard's dad . . . I hope the BGA faithful didn't feel like that was an "in your face" thing . . . we love the song and it does play after every game. I hope this is a good learning experience for BA . . I suspect that they will be getting some serious "coaching" this week as they prepare for Ensworth.
  6. If BA can continue to play with the intensity and discipline that they did on Friday against OB they will be tough to beat. The question is whether or not they can consistently play at that level . . . past history might suggest that it would be tough.
  7. I would agree, but hopefully MsPowerhouse will not hang his head . . . They were pretty impressive looking, but BA ran away from them on a few occasions so I don't think they were as fast as billed (or BA is faster than billed!). If BA can continue to play to that level, they will be hard to beat.
  8. This was a dominating performance by BA. OB got the ball 1st, went 3 and out,BA took the ball and marched right down and scored, and OB looked a little stunned. They had one nice answering drive, but that was about it. The final 7 points for OB came with about 30 seconds left against the 2nd and 3rd team. BA blocked a punt for a TD and just outran what was supposed to be a pretty fast team. Great win for BA and a good win for TN football.
  9. Thanks for your concern MsPowerhouse . . . we'll do our best to keep our heads held high after we get blown out by OB.
  10. After the last 2 years I think Father Ryan had this one coming although as they punched in a score right before half (making in 21 - 7 ) it did feel like deja vu all over again. In the end, BA had too much and got a good win. It was my first game at Father Ryan's home field -- great venue. They really did a great job with the shuttle buses . . . the Titan's could learn something from them . . .
  11. Ah doct, you gotta admit it was kind of funny . . . you didn't need to go all "MBA" on me . . . ! It's not like I busted you spelling or grammer.
  12. "48-6 before Kingsbury scored." Sorry doct, that one made me laugh out loud a little ( . . . wouldn't the "6" in 48-6 indicate a score . . .?) I wasn't on the sideline so I can't speak to the intensity of BA in the second half, but the first half was a dominating performance. I don't think Kingsbury got a first down until right before half (with most of the 2nd team in). A lot (all?) of the young players got a lot of time which is good to see. I agree that Kingsbury never gave up. They continued to play hard and I suspect the 38 they scored made the drive back to Memphis a little easier.
  13. Heard BA went down 9 - 0 before recording the first out!? Can't wait to get the details on this one . . .
  14. Wow - Congradulations to Coach Alexander and the Eagles! Sounds like each teams pitching was tired and BA's bats prevailed? . . . any details?
  15. Congratulations BA -- does anyone have any details (I think I heard 31 - 21) Should be another great BA/MBA game . . .
  16. What was the final? Any details?
  17. It was a good game, but disappointing for BA. We left to many points on the field to win. A missed extra point, missed field goal, touchdown pass called back (QB was over the line of scrimmage), stalled drive right before half . . . you have to convert those to beat a team as good as Ensworth. Darkwa was amazing -- everyone in the stadium knew he was getting the ball and we still couldn't stop him. He didn't rip off huge runs, but even on "good" defensive plays he would still fall forward for 4 yards. Ensworth is completely one dimensional at this point, but when that one dimension is that good it may not matter. It is interesting that the score was as low as it was. Both teams moved the ball, but both stalled in the red zone. It didn't have the feel of a defensive game, but it ended up being just that. Penalties also played a huge role for both teams. Fun game to watch. We'd love another shot . . .
  18. Understand -- I'll stay out of it from here on out. While I "may not know what I'm talking about", I will say that on the surface of the one post from him I read, he was right . . . Congrats again to Ryan and to all for another great season.
  19. You know, I dont' have a link to either team and clearly there is some bad blood between you guys as posters on this board, but from where I'm sitting the Ryan posters have really over reacted to the post that Ironman made. He was responding to Freestyle4life's post about why Blackman beat Ryan earlier in the year ("Ryan's lineup was incomplete). What -- Ryan can use that as a reason for a loss but Baylor can't. Don't see how this post warrants ". . . but it's sad you are so pathetic that you feel you must belittle high school KIDS accomplishments."). Jeez MWR -- take a pill.
  20. Congrats to Ryan. If my math is correct, Carreathers (BA) spent all of 3 total minutes on the mat during the tournament (4 matches).
  21. So BA beat Christian Brothers tonight? Does anyone have any details?
  22. Having seen them all play, I'd vote for Brunetti. They were all good, but I thought Brunetti was in a different league.

    BA vs MUS

    Ah, I had the wrong card. That makes more sense -- he's right . . . (I'm kidding! Relax MemphisReb) /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
