  3. From the FED Rulebook SLIDE OR AVOID A runner is out if the defense is playing on him and (1) he does not slide legally, causing illegal contact or thus alters the actions of a fielder in the act of making a play; or (2) on a force play when he slides he does not slide in a direct line between the bases. Penalty: Interference. The ball is dead, and both the runner and the batter-runner are out. Note 1: A runner on a force play may slide away from the fielder to avoid interference. Note 2: The runner establishes his base path as a direct line between his position and the base to which he must go. Note 3: The runner is never required to slide. If he does slide, it must be legal. If he does not slide, he must avoid interfering with the play. Note: The OBR has no such rule. Legal slide: A legal slide may be either head first or foot first. In a foot-first slide one leg and buttock must be on the ground. The runner must be able to reach the base with either a hand or a foot. Illegal slide: The runner may not use a rolling, cross-body, pop-up, or leg thrashing slide if he makes contact or alters the play. A raised leg must be no higher than the fielder’s knee when he is standing. The runner may not slide beyond the base and make contact or alter the play. The runner may not attempt to injure the fielder. I personally don't have a problem with what the runner did. It's simply against the rules. If the Houston players would not have charged into the situation the ump would have ejected the runner and called him out. Play would have resumed. I ran over the catcher once in HS and was ejected and called out. Both the catcher and I got up, dusted off and walked away. No words. No problems. It's difficult to avoid a collisiion when the catcher runs up the line to catch the ball(especially when you were a middle linebacker during fooball season). The fielder always has the right to catch the ball. You are correct, it doesn't specically say "avoid contact". There will always be some contact that cant be avoided on leagal slides. There was nothing legal about this slide/non slide.
  4. High school rules state the runner must avoid contact no matter what. YOU CAN NOT RUN OVER THE CATCHER IN HIGH SCHOOL. It is allowed in Major League basball. If there would not have been a brawl the runner would have been called out and ejected from the game.
  5. Previous post season record was 15 innings.
  6. Cox was pulled at the end of the 16th inning after throwing 8 innings. Moody pitched the last two innings. You had to be there to appriciate how epic this game was. This was not your standard game.
  7. This may be the worst, most Ill timed call in the history of baseball. I have no dog in this race either. Justafan1234 = Troll (Internet) "Do not feed the trolls" In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[
  8. I didn't see him try to help him up either. Can't blame him after what had just happened. I don't ever recall Jackson doing this in a match before so this must have really upset him. Here is a video from a different angle and closer that clearly shows it was a hand gesture. It was not an attempt to fling blood. He didn't have any blood on his hands. He didn't wipe blood from his nose like was previously suggested. The blood was on the Cordova wrestlers hands. The hands that were digging under his bandages. Here it is in slow motion from a different angle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBUH34RD41Q
  9. Wrassler, I am Jackson Mobley's father, Bob Mobley. I must step in here to defend my son's reputation. Jackson has had a tremendous Senior season(35-5 and co-captain). He has a 3.8 gpa and has made a 30 on his ACT. He has received many scholarship offers and plans to pursue a career in medicine. He has had NONE of these discipline or class problems you mention. He has Never had a misconduct called against him. Jackson has worked hard in the classroom and in the wrestling room. To associate him with Classless and undisciplined is way out of line here. Jackson cut his eye brow in the semi match when his and the WS wrestler's head collided accidentally. At least a 1 in. gash. I truly thought the medical staff would say he was done for the day. They did a great job getting him back on the mat to wrestle the third period. He did the best he could considering he was almost knocked out and still dizzy. This is not meant to discredit the WS wrestler. He earned the victory by wrestling a great match. Jackson then wrestled and defeated the Arlington wrestler in a normal match. In the consolation match vs Cordova the 1st period was uneventful with Jackson taking a 2-1 lead. In the second period the match started to get crazy. Jackson took a 7-1 lead and was in full control. The Cordova wrestler began to cross face his wound trying to draw blood. When Jackson would tilt him he would throw a deliberate elbow at his wound. The second time he did this, he caught him in the nose and busted it. This resulted in a 2 point unsportsmanlike. It could not have been more obvious what he was trying to do. I could not believe a 10th grade wrestler would go to this extreme to make it to state. The saving grace was that the medical staff was very good and patched Jackson up every time this happened. With the score 12-1 Jackson took him to his back and the Cordova wrestler began to yell for "blood time???. At this time the Cordova wrestler began to gouge his hands and fingers into the wound. This blatant attempt to cause more blood time, as you might imagine, made Jackson upset. The ref called the pin and Jackson got up, raised his hands and flipped them as a gesture while saying sarcastically "I??™m sorry I got blood on You". Jackson never touched his face. He never had blood on his hands and he did not fling blood. Both ref's were inches away and would have reacted if Jackson would have done it. Jackson makes this kind of hand gesture regularly when making a point. The wrestlers shook hands immediately after Jacksons hand gesture. The Cordova wrestler appeared to ask the ref why he didn??™t call for more blood time. I can understand why some people might have thought Jackson "flung blood". As I too watched the match from mat side, the only thing I saw was the second elbow that got his nose. When I watched the video replay I couldn't believe all the attempts to draw blood I missed. After the match, we then went to the Minor Med center and got 5 stitches and then returned to watch the championships. When you see the video you will be embarrassed that you wrote what you did. I hope that the Cordova coaches will advise this young man that the way to get to state is hard work and dedication and not "blood time". I do not think that this was representative of the Cordova program, just an isolated incident. Your post should have been about how the Bolton wrestler fought through a tough injury to make it back to the State tournament instead of "lack of class". The video is in several parts due to stoppage for blood time. Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Here is a video from a different angle. This view clearly shows he did not go to his face and fling blood. It was a hand gesture. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwF5kYB-Tc0 Slow motion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBUH34RD41Q Bob Mobley

  15. In the future if I have anything else to say to In Hoc I'll make sure I direct it to you. Since In Hoc decided it was a" waste " of time answering a "worthless post " I guess he delegates to you. I would be very happy to see MBA back on top and I agree MBA would be in the top 25% of all D-1 teams. They would NOT be in the top 3 of the top 10 D-1 teams. Try the bran. /quote] I'll bite on this one...I would say that MBA would be a Top 10 D-1 team and that doesn't seem like too much of a stretch....first eliminate all of West TN. They come out to the Blackhorse tournament each year and finish well ahead of all the D-1 schools around Memphis. I would expect the same result in Knoxville. Now look at the middle TN D1 schools, I would say that Clarksville, Indy, and Brentwood might give them a go. From Chattanooga, it would be Bradley, Soddy, Cleveland and ? Someone will probably jump in and add Franklin, Blackman and Notre Dame. Looking at the list there are only 3 and maybe a fourth that I believe would be favored to beat MBA in a dual. 16. This probably gets asked each year...... Is each school required to have their wrestling scale certified each year? I couldn't find anything on the TSSAA site about it. Thanks
  17. This would not work this year. They had it set up like airport screening. If you had ANY type of bag or container an "officer" would inspect it for food. $3 for bottled water $3 for a coke $3 for popcorn ect......... There was a hand written sign at the consession stand that said "Proceeds from sales go to UTC wrestling program". I wouldn't mind paying a few more $$$ to support UTC at the gate but the prices at the consession stants were absurd. This means that next year many familys will leave a little brother and sister at home because they cant afford to feed them. SAD /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> I don't mind paying a little more at a high school tournament but at the state tournament we should not be gouged by a third party.
  18. Young was injured during the match, his arm was basically dangling, and somehow won the match with one good arm. Reguardless, the format is flawed and needs some serious correction.
  19. Young appeared to injure his shoulder during the match with Salada.
  20. There are some predictions in this thread. http://tennessee.coacht.com/boards/index.p...howtopic=167025
  21. And just where is the MEMPHIS BELL ACADEMY listed in meet 1. hahaha..... A combination of MBA and MUS I guess.
