  1. "Anyways", I am a Harpeth fan. I did see the games last year and this year. This year's difference at the guard position is the result of an additional year of maturity and a summer's hard work for 3 players that were good last year. We have less turnovers at the point guard position and evenly distributed scoring. At the post, we are giving up about 100 pounds. We gained tons of speed, jumping ability, scoring ability, no foul trouble, and endurance. Mitchell can't push and shove as well as Finch; on the other hand, other teams' post players don't seem to be able to keep up with her for more than a quarter. There's one other thing...for whatever reason, this team has a better record and in my opinion will go further in the tournament. By the way, if you'll go back and check, the big girl that Holly F. guarded against Bolivar did not hurt us. Their strong forward scored at will in the paint near the free throw line. She was not Holly's responsibility. "Anyways", last year is over.
  2. I don't know which games or team you were watching last year, but you cannot be physical with someone you cannot catch. Harpeth's first loss last year came to a DCA team that simply "ran" them in the ground. They lost to Bolivar because they played 4 games in 6 days against top teams. This year, they have played several teams including Sycamore who are much more "physical" (usually means slow) and have no trouble on either end of the floor. Tuesday night will prove that speed, athleticism, and shooting ability always win out in h. s. basketball.
  3. I hope she's not out for the season. Congratulations on the win.
  4. Culleokarep, you're right. Most people in the stands are not "stats people" like Page Man, who is incredible. Most people in the crowd are into the excitement of a great 3-point shot, a dunk, or a violent blocked shot on defense. Just notice at games what gets the reaction from the crowd. Assists are very important to success in a game, as are rebounds...that's why I said it's a thankless job.
  5. Because assists aren't as sexy as scores. Just like a blocker never gets recognition in football when that block is what enabled a running back to score a touchdown. It's a thankless job!
  6. Heard that Smith went down last Friday. Would like an update on her condition. Sorry to hear it.
  7. I heard that there was an unfortunate situation that occurred with the fire marshal closing the gym because it was full early and several Creek Wood fans weren't able to get in. Any truth to this? Is this a case of a gym too small or a plot by the home team to keep out the visiting team's fans or what is going on ?????????
  8. Amen. These girls are fun to watch. What a team of shooters! ....And only one of them is a senior!
  9. Should be a great matchup. I give Sycamore the edge in this one being at home and a boost in confidence after the Cheatham game. Good luck to both teams.
  10. Looking ahead to next week, any thoughts on the Columbia at Harpeth game? It should be a very exciting game. I give Harpeth the edge at home.
  11. Thanks for articulating my point very well. I think the goofs are funny, as well. I think most are getting tired of this subject matter, so I vote we all drop it.
  12. I totally agree. There should be a total split. The privates will always have advantages over public because they draw from all over and their parents provide $$$ for the teams.
  13. Thanks for the info. I'll bet that was one of the most exciting games to watch in that district so far.
  14. I wasn't at that game. Exactly what happened? Who scored for Sycamore? Did Lawson get contained somewhat?
  15. Someone from Upperman, what is up with the recent losses? I saw them this summer and they are a good team.
