  1. Giles County was tougher than expected but Waverly wins 61-51. Maybe they were looking ahead. I assume CPA took care of Stewart Co so Waverly vs CPA it is. Good luck Tigers!
  2. Waverly beats Giles Co 71-53 as expected. Did anyone see the game? Was it closer than that or did Waverly have in hand easily? Next up Cascade. This will be a good one. Anyone have insight into this one?
  3. It's the playoffs. Browsing through the thread for region 5 there's a couple comments about the importance of winning the region because the loser gets CPA. Also a couple saying CPA should be in the private division instead of public. How do they get away with that anyhow? It is a private school right?
  4. I've looked at Giles results and their opponents results. There is not one meaningful victory on the schedule this year. The Waverly schedule was pretty easy, but they beat Nashville East Magnet earlier in the year and a few top 25 ranked teams. Based on results this year I don't see Giles staying within 15 points. Now past that I see Cascade being a tough game and CPA could be ugly. They are straight up awesome.
  5. No. Please help me understand how their JV losing to Page means they are playing better.
  6. Much better of late is a loss to Marshall Co, two wins against 7-16 Spring Hill, two beat down losses to CPA and 1-1 against 10-17 page? I wouldn't think that's playing better.
  7. Giles Co at 13-10 has beaten four teams with above .500 record. I don't see them taking out Waverly.
  8. Could someone living nearby give me a run down on Waverly? I've been living out of state for some time and have lost touch. I bet some of those are kids of my friends playing on the '87 state team.
  9. While I'm sure there may be some oil money in Allen, that is one of the newly wealthy districts in the DFW area and definitly not built from old oil money as was the juggernaut Odessa Permian (Friday Night Lights) and several Houston area schools. You can see from the link below that the city has exploded in the last decade with nearly double the population and about 75% increase in average household income since 2000. Allen TX demographics
  10. $60 million is a very steep price tag, but the previous posters are correct. One huge stadium like this will have anywhere from 3 to 6 teams as their home field. High School football is unbelievable here. I attended a 1A football game last night about 6 miles from my house where the graduating classes will be about 50 students from each school, but there were at least 2,000 people at the game. I have seen many stadiums here that make most college DII stadiums look like crap and the fans fill it week in and week out. They are also used for other sports like boys and girls soccer which is also huge here and draws lots of paying fans. The stadiums not only pay for themselves but they make money for the districts which goes right back to the schools. Then there are schools like Lake Travis HS which I think is ranked #3 in the country and hasn't lost a game since 2007. They are have the money to spend in their district and they spend it. Check out the link to their weight room. http://boards.ign.com/fitness_and_nutrition_board/b6821/193270712/p1/?2
  11. Hey now, let's not get carried away. I said I was showing my age, but never said I was old. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> We also had the train derailment in Waverly where some dummy decided it was ok to smoke next to a derailed gas tanker and the whole thing exploded demolishing several blocks of houses. That was considered one of the top 10 disasters in the US for years.
  12. Things that happened while I was growing up near Waverly (while showing my age): Waverly went undefeated allowing 7 points on D during the regular season losing to Brentwood Academy in the state semi's Susan Goodman from Waverly was crowned Mrs America Carrie Folks from New Johnsonville was named Miss Tennessee "The Bridge" between Camden and J'ville was rebuilt and the old one was demolished The World Fair was held in Knoxville and the "energy" barge shown at the fair was anchored about a mile from my house on the Tennessee River shortly after Something that will not happen this year: Waverly beating Camden While I am a Waverly alumnus, they should not be able to hang with Camden on Friday. Waverly has a pretty good team, but Camden should take this one although I feel it will be closer than some are predicting. Go Tigers!!!
  13. Ok, I see another week has passed along with another butt whipping. Anyone have some insight?
  14. Over the years I have come here periodically to check scores, etc for different Waverly sports. Historically Waverly is pretty tough on the gridiron but I come back and find this. It doesn't seem that long ago that they were doing this to their opponents, but now they have only scored eight points in four games with all four being complete blow outs. I haven't browsed through the board deep enough to see what has happened, but I am very curious. Was there a major coaching change or something? I see that there have been some injuries, but this is terrible. I'm not interested in anyone jumping on the pile if you know what I mean. I just would like info from the close fans or anyone with productive input. Thanks!!
  15. Speaking of......can someone tell me about the clinic bowl? Maybe it has changed, but in the 80's I remember my HS team was in it a couple of times and won it once. It seemed like a good thing, but they were not in the playoffs.
  16. I know this is not in TN, but I now live in Texas. If this doesnt meet their "state of the art" requirements I dont know what would. Check this out. This is the Round Rock ISD football stadium and cost around 28 million to build with a $1 million jumbotron. Round Rock stadium This is just an artists rendering, but trust me, it is even nicer than it looks. I personally think it's a bit stupid to spend that much on a HS stadium, but they justified it by saying that three teams would play there.
  17. Any updates? I would assume that GC would win this one going away, but I have a personal interest in Waverly. GC is pretty good, but I see that Waverly has won a couple of pretty stiff tests as well.
  18. Ok, since the game was not last night I, guess I couldnt listen to it then. Surely one of you internet guru's can either give a link or at least tell the radio stations that this game is being broadcast on. I would really appreciate anyone's help.
  19. Can anyone give me a link to listen to the Waverly 10AA district tourney game thats gonna start at 5:30pm? I'm in Texas and have to work late and really would like to hear it. Any local radio stations with online links that would play it is what I think might be available. Thanks a bunch
  20. Is the schedule on here not correct? I see that they are to play the 29th too. Whats missing?
  21. Does this mean the game was cancelled or was it ever even scheduled? If it was cancelled and will possibly be scheduled to be made up, I will follow up. If it was never scheduled I will ask that the game be removed from the CoachT website.
  22. Does anyone know the final of the Waverly vs Stewart Co game from Friday?
