  1. Science Hill's effort against Liberty is the highlight? Ouch!
  2. Shoot son, it appears that what_a_game (whoever he is) has jerked your chain good, and you have let him...the truth of the matter is (to quote Steven A.Smith), we are in double digit pages on a thread because someone thought West Greene was going to win more than 10 games...before the fight breaks out, perhaps we ought to pull the plug on the thread - any time there are more pages than possible wins, something isn't right. Just a thought...
  3. MuddDoggs11, I agree, Click had an awesome 1st half. The move to put Wiggins on him in the 2nd half was a good one, but I disagree with your assesement of his defense as "karate"...at 6' 7", he simply was to big for Click to effectively shoot over. But you are correct, Wiggins was not impressive Friday night and candidly he has been struggling (especially on offfense) for the past couple of weeks - needs to correct that before Arby's or it will not be pretty. The kid can play, hope you get an opportunity to see him "on".
  4. I agree...it should all start with the parents and coaches. Though like you said we're aren't getting anywhere in the present times. As long as parents continue to try and live vicariously through their kids it will keep going downhill.
  5. Wiggins and Gash are the big scorers but the 2 missing starters are key defensive players and pressure is what allows Greeneville to win - they could not run their trap with those guys missing and Gash running on one leg. Wiggins was ice cold and #20 for Boone did not miss a shot in the 1st half - Boone played well, but Greeneville won on a night they maybe should have lost. Bottom line on Greeneville, when they shoot well, no one in this area beats them - when they are cold, they will stuggle to win against most teams.
  6. Neither Wiggins or Gash make a shot other than a lay up during the game - you missed an golden opportunity last night. Defense was excellent, but the three's not falling - you can't count on that happening to both of those players again on the same night, they are too talented.
  7. I saw Stone Memorial early and they were not very good offensively...have they picked it up as the season has progressed?
  8. Bradley didn't lose - they got killed by Greeneville and candidly, Greeneville is very well coached, play great defense and have a heck of a player in Wiggins but...they aren't as good as last year...therefore, Bradley is a struggle to be in the top 10.
  9. I thought that given last night's result you might need a thread on which to reconsider how long you need to wait before evaluation.
  10. After a few weeks it appears the Big 9 may not be any better than the IMAC - one good team, a couple of pretenders and nothing below - any comments?
  11. Cherokee may do very well this season...however, winning the Hardee's classic and beating teams the caliber of West Greene does not match up with playing Greeneville...that being said, Greeneville has not played as well the last couple of games although the margin of victory was large. I would guess this to be a 12 - 15 point Greeneville win on the road, but that is why the games are played, let's see what happens.
  12. I believe Wiggins scored 25+ against Memphis Hamilton and their 6 D1 signees in last year's state tournament. I've always thought a pretty good indicator of a players ability is the respect shown after the game. At last years tourney, the players embraced after the game and talked in the tunnel and locker rooms for 30+ minutes after the game. I don't think there would be a down side to taking Wiggins or Omar...even if you think neither is upper SEC material, they are as good as we have seen in this area in a while. Let's look forward to the mid-season match up.
  13. I wasn't at that game so I can't comment on that play...I will say that one of the best things WG has going for them is the Coach. He has the kids hustling. That being said, I'm not sure they can win more than 10 - 12 games this year. Yes, the guard play is improved and yes they have some size inside, but I'm not sure they can sustain the inside play for the whole game.
  14. With all the pre season hype regarding the talent DB has this year, the early play has been disappointing. Will they bounce back or is the talent overrated?
  15. As I stated in my earlier post, Bradley began fouling with 4 to 5 minutes left in the game as they were down about 20 at the time. That being said, if you believe the officials are the culprit, have at it, you will have the rest of the season to use that lame excuse.
  16. i have no clue where you all get that he will have three rings... let me tell you this... i will take jordan jennings, who is a sophmore from jefferson, over your boy drew any day of the week. o and by the way unlike drew jordan played in the district and regional tournements last year as a FRESHMAN!!! and if any of you actually follow high school golf you would know that jefferson was raw last year
  17. Bradley scores 18 total in the first half, is outscored 19 to 5 in the 3rd period and the discussion is officiating. If CNFn stands for Carson Newman Fan, are you from Jefferson County? That may explain your post, as the officials were certainly resposible for the 40 point drubbing earlier in the week that Jeff received.
  18. You have got to be kidding me if "the officials" are why Bradley lost - no, the officals are not going to win awards or be calling in the NCAA next week, but Greeneville dominated this game. Wiggins played extremely smart in the post on defense and he wasn't "over the back". I did not see the coach from Bradley screaming about walks that were not called nor did I see him screaming about Wiggins fouling, and as you are aware, he screams often and loudly when things are not going his way. The bottom line of this game is that Bradley did not shoot well (and intense defense had something to do with this), they had to double Wiggins to try to control him (and the officials allowed Bradley to hand check and hold during these efforts) and when they did the open men hit their shots. And before we go to the stat sheet and start talking the difference in total fouls called for the 2 teams, take note that Bradley fouled to gain possession for the last 4 minutes of the game as those are the things you do when you start the fourth quarter down 23 points. Bradley is a very good basketball team, they simply got outplayed last night.
  19. Not playing exceptionally well, Greeneville beats Jeff by 40 in the Landair classic. With all due respect to the kids out on the floor, where are the players in a school of 2200 - 2300? Number 22 was probably the leading scorer, he is average at best and has more attitude than anyone I have witnessed in a while. The thread of a couple of weeks ago ask the question, "why is jeff basketball so bad"? Unfortuntaely for Jeff and the conference, it's not getting better this year.
  20. I hate to bust anybody's bubble but Greeneville played their soph. jv's against wg for all but the early part of the game. The soph's were trailing by 3 when Greeneville put in the guys on jv who will never see the floor in a real game as Greeneville has not cut anyone on jv or varsity and wg went up double digits. WG got beat pretty well in their 2nd scrimmage - I can't speak for all the teams in wg's conference, but 20 games would be a miracle based on the play I saw.
  21. Barb, after you click "athletics", click "basketball" and a picture of the team pops up...scroll down the schedule is on the right hand side.
  22. Go to the following web site www.gcschools.net/ghs - click on athletics and navigate your way to the basketball schedule
  23. Greeneville's schedule shows them playing in the Arby's Classic.
