Speaking of tracking record . . . I understand that this BGA position is TJ's 9th position in the last 18 years. Metro, Giles, Franklin, Knox, Alcoa, Giles, Franklin, Giles, BGA .............. is that a record for building programs or moving where the fire is the warmest? Don't think BGA is sitting there with a bunch of inexperienced, raw players. But, to each their own! If that is what he enjoys doing, bouncing around - it's his career and we should not be too criticial of his choices. Giles County must have known this was coming for several weeks - they will have a solid response.

Giles County players . . . . rally around your assistant coaches and your new coach. Seniors-to-be . . . . be leaders - - strong get stronger - - fast get faster! This is what teamwork is all about. Any players that quit on you now, would not have lasted long in playoff game! Seniors-to-be, middle Tennessee folks have been hearing about your class for three years . . now is your time to lead. Gentlemen, you have provided probably the two best quotes that I have ever seen back to back on these e-mail forums. Your thoughts are much appreciated. Some of our high school coaches have brought the world of the NFL and College to the superintendents office. School "A" will do this for me . . . . what can you do better . . . if you will .... then I'll be there! And I'm sure when these coaches get into their first "pep talk" with their new team and the words "commitment, loyalty, sacriface" comes out of their mouth. At least the NFL and College coaches quit using those words. So if, the NFL coaches, College coaches and now High School coaches stop teaching those traits . . . who will be teaching them. And you are so right . . . the loser in all of this are the kids . . . . .

Girls high school golf is beginning to grow in participation in the state of Tennessee - - but, we don't hear much about the ones wanting to play golf in college. Every year their is more and more scholarship money for girl's golf at the college level. I think the high school season was in the fall for the Tennessee golfers - - who has signed and where and who is still undecided?

Your post here and my post seem to have some facts in common. It appears very true that the current football staff in GC and the current GC junior class have turned the up the expectations and performance level in GC; with the head coach leading the charge. However, if he leaves for BGA and splits up the staff after only one season, this could leave GC holding the bag with a lot of high expections. Your data supports (I stand corrected) that it appears GC indeed has become a "contender to make the playoffs" (those are my words). It will take more of the same work to become "contenders in the playoffs".

Thanks for the information. I just looked on the Martin Methodist web site, you're correct about their men's team now - - and they have posted that they will begin women's bowling next year.

Interesting information - it is said that this GC raising senior class, current juniors, are one of the top classes to come through GC in quite a while. These guys supposely have had a different coach in football each year since the 7th grade. TJ was to give this group stability in assisting to jump start the program for the years to come. If true, it will be very unpopular in GC if he turns his back on the job he was brought in to do. Not to mention leaving this group with yet another coach next year.

This was a great year for high school bowlers and the sport is really growing. Which Tennessee colleges have bowling scholarship and teams?

A 4-6 record is much better than the past . . . but, to say GC is a playoff contender is quite a stretch.
