  1. Halls no doubt layed it on us last night. They hit very well, and their defense didn't do too bad (when we put the ball in play). I think our team underestimated Halls pitching outside of Lockwood. Phibbs did an excellent job on the mound for Halls. The Halls and Karns matchup at 3:30 @ Karns should be an excellent game. Karns threw Henry last night against West, so Halls will probably see Patterson. I'm not sure if Halls will throw Lock, but if they did it would be a great pitcher match-up. West and Clinton play the game before that at 1:00 @ Karns. This should be a pretty good game. Clinton has beat West twice this season, but both were very close games and one of them even went into extra innings. Should be two pretty good games on Saturday (if the rain holds out), great game at 3:30.
  2. I think Halls will be at most risk of not throwing Lockwood against Clinton on Thursday at Karns. The first time Clinton played Halls they threw Lockwood and beat Clinton into the ground. The second time they played @ Clinton, they threw I think Lawson and Clinton won 3-1. Halls may have not hit as well when they played us, but I think they will throw Lockwood to ensure them a first round win.
  3. Yes I agree the Clinton father should have stopped as well as the other dad involved. This is why the umpires should have done something, but they didn't. Hate that the umpires missed that call. A runner on third definately could have changed the outcome with the momentum booster. But I'm not going to get on that because I definately don't believe in that stuff. Luckily nothing happened, good game till that dredded sixth inning.
  4. That was the first thing that I looked for when I saw it happen. Both of the batter's feet were in the box. Obviousily it was a bad call, but the batter didn't help out. Soon as he was hit, he bent down and about 3 seconds later walked out of the box before the umpire could get a good look at his feet with the catcher out of the way. He probably should have just froze where he was at, but he just got nailed in the head. The catcher was also going nuts saying that had broke his hand (I guess he hit it on the helmet of the batter) so the batter just moved out of the way. Bad call, but your going to get those when you dont have the best umps working for you. Looking at the batter's position in the box should have been the umpire's in the field first look, but he didn't. Unfortunate, but it happens I guess.
  5. We had the same call in the game the other night. The batter hit the ball and was thrown out at first. After the play was over the umpire went over the the home teams dugout and informed the coach the kid was being ejected from the game for slinging his bat. The player had been warned, and the coach was well aware of it, no arguement and play continued. I have never had a problem with that call, even in the little league's. I've never tossed but warned many kids when they continue to swing the bat and hit the catcher or me in the legs. I think for the safety of the catcher and the umpire (possibly even the batter on deck) that it is a good rule to have in the book.
  6. The game was close until the 6th inning when Clinton had a melt down, and OS started turning the bats alive. The put up I think 7 on us. Between errors and good hits, they rallied to beat us. The whole incident was definately out of control. The catcher threw a ball into the batters helmet and somehow hurt his hand. The batter turned to him and said "It wasn't his fault what happened" and the catcher responded. The parents were yelling at the umps for making the wrong call by calling the runner stealing third out for interference from the batter. Clinton's fans started yelling at the umpire and the cather's dad felt they were blaming his son or yelling at him (the catcher). Justice's father then called out random people in the Clinton's stands and wanting to fight them or something ridiculous. The Clinton dad was telling him that he didn't say anything too him and that he needed to sit down and shut up. All this was going on while the Clinton fans were still yelling at the ump. The father continued to yell at the Clinton fan and so on. I believe Justice's mom even got into it after a while. It was all blown way out of proportion for nothing. Another thing is that the umpire's let it get out of control. The entire time the incident was going on with the two fathers the umpire's were on the field watching. The probably could have gotten some control of the situation instead of sitting back and watching.

One thing that always gets me, is when you see your teammate watch an outside fastball, that looks pretty much on the corner, and gets rung up on it. Then he walks back to the dug-out and you hear him say, that was two feet outside, and you just sit there and agree with him to make him feel better. That is why you get three strikes! That is what separates the good hitters, from your average high school joe. Anybody can go up there and stand at the plate and watch and see if the ball goes over the plate or not. Thats like front row seats for a fan. When good hitters see that strike that they can work with, they go to work with it. They drive it somewhere in the field. They don't wait for the umpire to have to make that crutial call. Don't rely on anybody else out there, because it sometimes is, to unpredictable. I umpire games too (not high school) and we all try and keep the strike zone the same the entire games. We all have made some bad calls in our day, its a fact. So what you do as a player, is don't put the pressure and blame on somebody else, you take responsibility and do your business at the plate and hopefully make it on base.
  8. OS is a very good team. We played them in their tournament last weekend and they were a very good ball club. Rockwood beat them because they straight up mashed. Rockwood hit three (?) home runs that game, which really helped them roll. They were just putting the ball in play and it was landing for them. OS had a double header. Right after they lost to Rockwood, they had to turn around and play us (Clinton). Neither teams hit the ball very well, pitching was the key I guess. I think they still will do good in their district. They have only lost two games for goodness sake, you talk like they are trash now carletto123. Let's face the fact, they weren't going to go undefeated all year. They have a good team though, best of luck to them.
  9. I was wrong again with my prediction, but I would always support my squad. I was right again though, on the score would be within two runs. No the game wasn't over in 5, not even close. Powell 3 9 1 Clinton 2 5 4 Thats what the box looked like. Both teams played very well. I think it was tougher than Powell thought that it was going to be second time around. I really thought we were going to pull it off for a while, but I knew it was a matter of time before we fell apart. We average on the season 4 errors a game, so we pretty much nailed our average again unfortunetly. Powell's number 4 hit a shot down the right field line, which was an easy double, but we decided to throw it away in dead territory and give him an in-the-park home run. Didn't help much. Great effort by both teams, Powell wins again.
  10. You are entitled to your own opinion, which is fine. You feel that it is going to be over in five innings, I definetly do not. Hope to see you at the game. I guess we will both find out.
  11. I don't see where you get this. They only beat us by three the first time, and it was still a close game. Powell went on a hot streak for a little while, but they have cooled off. You must think we are going to lay down, since they beat us the first time, and let them slaughter-rule us in the fifth inning. A little update...thats not going to happen. We are ready for them to come to our place, and I think Powell is ready too. 5 o'clock @ Clinon. You want to see a game, come and watch.
  12. Wow....I'm shocked. Five or more runs is quite a defeat. Might I remind you that we are on a 5 game winning streak. Granite you can say the teams that we have played weren't the toughest of teams, but still the momentum is in our favor. You dropped a very close game to Heritage last night, which will have your team momentum down. You also threw the guy you threw agaisnt us the first time last night, which means you won't be throwing your "ace". I predicted us to win last time and was wrong. But my overall score prediction was right. It was within two or three runs. I think that it will be the same again tonight, another close game. I'm still going to stand behind my squad. Clinton over Powell in round 2.
  13. Just a little add in..... Clinton plays Powell tonight @ Clinton. The game starts around 5 o'clock. Neither one of the teams is near the top of the rankings, but Clinon has started out rough in the district. Looking to try and make a come back at get back in with the pack.
  14. Wow, I'm suprised OR pitched to you guys (Lockwood and Lucas). Either they weren't being very heads up on pitch selection, or the pitcher just missed his spots. Barley for OR hit a home run for them. He has been playing good all season. He signed with Tusculum earlier in the year. How many strikeouts did Lockwood have?
  15. I like the bomb estimate, I would agree with you, but OR's field isn't that short. I would agree with that, but you never know if they will pitch to Lockwood or Lucas? They may walk them intentionally or pitch around them. If it's a close game I would look for that to happen if OR is intelligent. Good call though. Anytime OR gets beat, we (Clinton nation) love it.
