I hear ya Pentacost.....BUT......I hate Central and Polk.......It really is getting to be a HUGE joke on the sign out front of Central proclaiming "The Proudest School In The State of Tennessee." Unless it makes the administration PROUD for their students to act the way they do.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts.....we would all have a MERRY CHRISTMAS !!

Polks "beat down" of East Ridge would be lots more impressive IF ER actually had a decent team. Hixson whacked em thirty something to zip and then Rhea killed Hixson this past week. I don't think this region has an obvious favorite but I wouldn't count out Polk, ND, Meigs, or Howard. I would think the champ would be out of those 4 teams, depending on how they do against each other. Should find a lot out Friday when ND travels to Decatur. Can say for sure, though, that some things never change. I went to the Meigs vs. Central game Friday and Central STILL has a bad football team and some disrespectful, obnoxious students who can't seem to keep themselves on their side of the field even though there are NO restrooms or concession stands on the visitors side. The administration at Central needs to gain a little control or eventually it will get ugly at Central, which, I would assume, is EXACTLY what those students are wanting it to get.

That was Meigs County's asst. coach that got tossed....Ump said he "charged" him....at least we all got a good laugh out of it......that coach is one of the nicest guys I know......

Looks like a BRIGHT future for Rhea County High School.

Does McMinn Central still have a football team??....Good call on getting exact replicas of the TN Titans uniforms......they are both going to be in the same place in the standings......LAST !! In all seriousness.....Central is awfully young and still a couple yrs. away from competing in this region. Hard to figure how this school does so well in all other sports but can't get it figured out in football....maybe the new coaching staff will get it turned around....

The enrollment used was for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Those are the grades that are considered middle school.

Since you are begging someone to say something, here goes.........the region will be extremely even this year with Howard and Polk probably the favorites....ND and East Ridge won't be near as good as they were last year, and for that matter neither will Polk. Meigs has a shot at actually winning the region if their young linemen mature quickly, they have plenty of skill players......Tellico seems to be much improved.......time will tell......Grundy, have NO idea....not sure how they are in this region anyway........Sequoyah probably finishes eighth......and Central.....well they are still Central......which usually means wait till next year.

They went by the enrollment numbers which are listed on the T$$AA website. The only mistake I know of was that Spring City was in the small division because they failed to clarify that their team is actually made up of Spring City Middle and Dayton City School. They should have been in the large division but I don't know who that would have dropped into the small. Probably either Jasper or Meigs.

Thought the tournament in Athens was very good. Some evenly matched competitive games. Very well ran tourney and as far as I could tell very good sportsmanship by all teams. Meigs played OK considering they lost 7 starters from last yrs team and started 3 6th graders. Good luck to all teams for the rest of the fall season.

Middle School Tourney in Athens. Meigs Co. 9 Jasper 8. Jasper scored 3 runs in top of last inning to take the lead and Meigs came back with 4 in the bottom to win.

Westmoreland vs. Meigs County, 1995 state quarter final. Meigs broke a 14 all tie with under a minute left to win 21-14. Drove something like 60 yards in less than 2 minutes with no timeouts left.

Hey all you Pigeon Forge Tiger fans, we are having a BIG tailgate party at the season opener in Meigs Co. When I say "we" I mean the Meigs girls booster club. We are having a shrimp boil for $5 a plate. Come early and try not to eat on your way down cause I guarantee you won't find a better meal anywhere. Hoping to have some good live entertainment also. Billing it as a "Tiger Bowl" since both teams go by that nickname. So tell all your PF fans to come and enjoy good fellowship and great food at Meigs High.
