  1. Kinda glad we finally have some chatter on the boards. I know it's an old subject and my view on it is entirely different than when I started Coaching all those years ago. I know a lot of us have been on both sides of these scores when building our programs, so I hope everyone understands there is no disrespect meant; just a difference in opinions. These will change over time. Glad to see some new posters on the boards! Good Luck to all the rest of the way.
  2. I'm with you on good wishes for Bradley, but the boys are going to pick it up. 17-7 Oak Ridge off interception return for a TD. Early in 3rd.
  3. 10 - 0 Oak Ridge. 37 seconds left in 1st.
  4. I see both sides of this argument and we are just repeating things said over the last several years. I do think double digits is over the top and I know that you can still improve your team by working on things that you don't do particularly well against a team other than yourself. I don't know how many times I get frustrated when our reserves know exactly what we are trying to work on and take it away because they know it is coming. Games like these are a great opportunity to see if your team can strengthen a weakness that can create opportunities without having to put the ball in the net. I'm with G on restrictions that don't insult the other team, but make you work on things you may need in a tougher match. Practice time gets limited during the season so these matches are opportunities to work on that stuff without holding players on the practice pitch longer. I do agree that you don't want to discourage players who don't play as often from chances to score. But you can certainly make those players stronger by teaching them new ways to create and score. It's been mentioned and certainly true that opinions on this will always be different.
  5. I can update one score. Oak Ridge over EHS 3 - 0. Thanks for updating scores Champ! Anyway others can pitch in to fill the missing scores. Thought it was a good tournament and glad we came down for it. Champ, you must have been at our game this morning. Did we cross paths in pregame?
  6. Sorry I haven't been as active on the boards, but it has been a busy summer(as it has for everyone). We are young and have been dealt some injuries, so we have some work to do. But you deal with that every year. We have a great group of girls working hard. I wouldn't trade this team for anything. This group wants to prove something and are capable. This weekend will show a lot for everyone! Good Luck to all. Better luck to the Lady Wildcat!
  7. For once, ref, we may actually agree, or at least come close to agreeing on something. I think Catholic is the top dog until proven otherwise. I think CAK can play with anyone this year. They are loaded! Hardin Valley, Bearden, and Farragut are all proven programs and whom ever survives will be a contender at state. I've heard some club players have decided to play year round. Most are younger players, but I thought Maryville may have lost a key player or two for this year. I think LC is in for a good season, along with SC once they are healthy again. Also, have to believe Webb has players to move up the rankings. Overall, any of these teams could beat each other on the right night. It will come down to who can consistently show up over the season. Wouldn't be surprised to see a name not mentioned here make a run. Hope the boards come back with some chatter.
  8. Don't normally post on the Football boards(I moderate the soccer boards here). I am the Girl's Head Soccer Coach at Oak Ridge. There was a large donation to do the work on the field. Both the Boy's and Girl's boosters matched a commitment from our funds. The school committed to the needed utilities for the project. Overall, the donation is over 90% of the funding. We had this rare opportunity for the upgrade or it would still be years down the road while we tried to fund raise the money on our own. Hope that doesn't come off the wrong way. I just wanted to clarify that situation. I'll be the first to help raise funds for other upgrades, especially Football. Coach Blade has us back to Oak Ridge Football. I am really excited for the season to get going! On a side note....Has anyone seen the new Oak Ridge Wildcat scarfs? They look awesome!!!!!
  9. CAK up 1 nil with 6 left. Alcoa ties it up with 1 left. looks like golden goal
  10. Thanks for the luck, Ref! Truly mean that. Don't know if you are still following Seymour as much, but we are competitors again in AAA (though only on the girls side). Funny how things happen. Maybe we need to spice the boards up again to get everyone back, just try not to bash me too bad With some results tonight, I think we can expect some chatter. Farragut over Bearden I heard catholic over maryville, but no confirmation yet. Craziness that only shows it is all about the post season and showing up that day. I love high school athletics. Good luck to all who are left. Let's represent at the boro when the rest of the state thinks we're down!!!!
  11. Any details on the match?
  12. Along with possible lack of interest from parents/players graduating and moving on and no replacements. I think many coaches may be cracking down on allowing posts. Just like with twitter or facebook, if someone comes on here saying something offensive or volatile; it only works to motivate an opponent. I know we only try to step in to moderate when attacks become personal or malicious. Heck I kinda miss those days going back and forth with Easttnref (Tho, she now pops up on Oak Ridge Girls topics every once and awhile )
  13. Had a scrimmage become a regular season match in a tournament so looking for one more. Also still looking for teams for Katie Hunter 15 over labor day weekend 9/2-4. Contact at ladysoccercats@gmail.com

    CAK vs. Alcoa

Pretty sure I also now know who gunters is, I will be sure to use that power in the rematches (I hope to see 3 ) I agree with BigG on the fact that it was a fun game to watch. Alcoa got the first, but CAK countered so quickly that it swung momentum back to the warriors. CAK kept the pressure up and scored 2 nice goals, the volley was wicked and I don't think any keeper was stopping that one. Alcoa's centerback was out getting treatment, so I don't know how that would have affected anything. CAK was really clicking well in the attack the last 20 of the 1st. I thought Alcoa regrouped well in the 2nd and had the run of play to get their 2nd goal to make it a game again, but CAK seems to always find that decisive goal to seal it, and the last one was nice again off the corner and quick deflection and header. It was good to see a few of the top players in the area show their skills. It was hard fought as usual and I would be shocked if a few more of these didn't play out in the coming weeks. Good Luck to both teams! Both programs seem to be in great hands after such legendary coaches (please read the sarcasm) But honestly, it was great to see these teams compete with class and make each other better for another run. I have to admit it was hard to sit and watch, even with good company. I can promise that if either squad gets hot, no one wants to play them in the post season. G, see how long you can go without a reference to a 4-2 score..... make it another day and I may double our bet. Thoughts and Prayers to Sam Webster for a quick recovery. WELL DONE LADS!!!!
  15. This thread is going off base from subject and I don't see any good coming from this. If you want to continue this discussion please start a new thread.
  16. Shoot me an email at ladysoccercats@gmail.com and I can provide info on our fall tourney.
  17. Wish I could have seen this one, but work got in the way. Sounds like a typical hard fought match between the two. I expect both to go far in the end and this was a great time to have a rivalry match. Maryville is loaded and well coached. They have been battle tested every season as some of their younger players have grown up playing against the best in the state every week in the district. They will be fun to watch this season. Alcoa will also be a team to watch in AA. People will see the playmakers in Austin (#15) and Tyler (GK); but if you see that as all they have, you will be overlooking several other great players. I'm obviously biased, but when Alcoa is healthy and they are clicking, they will make this a special year. Hope to have to take some time off work late in may to come watch both teams in the Boro. Good Luck to both!
  18. Anyone that knows Coach Culbreth, would know he would never back down from the challenge. I don't know about this rumor, but I suspect that other factors went into the decision not to go to palmetto. What I do know is that these posts will only make this team that much more motivated.
  19. I know BigG didn't make the cut.......sorry couldn't resist.
