  1. so what was the penalty for the flagrant foul if there was no ejection. I am pretty sure if a flagrant foul is called, by the book, it should be reported to scorer's table as a "flagrant technical foul" followed by disqualification. If the player charged with flagrant foul continued to participate, somebody screwed up.
  2. I believe this is the way it goes down.... The suspension (handed down and enforced by TSSAA, not by the officials) is the result of any ejection. The ejection is a result of the flagrant foul. ...so when the official judged the foul to be flagrant, that resulted in the automatic ejection. The ejection is reported to the TSSAA and they enforce the suspension. And gymrat...you didn't lose a player because of one official's opinion, you lost a player due to his own actions.
  3. More truth... Eagles got down early, 11-0 or 13-0, and never got it going. 41-18 at half. Eagles played with 5 guards most of 2nd half and it was obvious the goal was to get back in the game with the 3 (shoot it if you're open let's see what happens). Nobody got hot, or even warm, for Summertown. Shot around 7 of 40 (3's) for the entire game. Assuming no offensive rebounds, that's 40 possessions producing only 21 points. Not going to beat alot of teams like that, especially a solid WC team that played and shot very well.
  4. Coach Trotter started 5 freshman. The normal starters did not play as Trotter was resting them for Friday night's showdown with Frank Hughes.
  5. Way to "class it up" guys. Talk a little basketball or da' coach can close this one. Better yet..start your own thread and keep this one on 12A.
  6. VC, you are, as you suspected, mistaken... Summertown beat Eagleville at Mt. Pleasant for Sectional Championship (3/9/2009) The victory over Clarksville Academy was 1st round of state tournament (3/18/2009) Summertown lost to Temple in 2nd round (3/20/2009). So I guess that does mean Clarksville Academy has been to state 2 years in a row. You continue to make Eagle fans looked uninformed. Thanks.
  7. but it's hard to win in any gym when you play horrible though isn't ? It it too much to ask for somebody to just admit that maybe Summertown was just better than Perry County tonight. Just like Perry County was better when these 2 teams played earlier in the season.
  8. "PC played horrible" sounds like an excuse... Sometimes... and it just might be possible in this case....that a team plays horrible because of the other team.
  9. Any poll that has CA ranked above Summertown and Perry County immediately loses all credibility.
  10. Unfortunately the Eagles did not have success hitting open shots at the wing. They were, I believe, 3 for 18 on 3PT attempts. This does not represent success as far as the Eagles are concerned. The best result off the drive for Summertown was finding the post guy open or drawing fouls. Agreed this is a great showcase for both teams. Gives the fans a chance to see the other Lawrence County teams play that they might not normally get to see. Way to go Eagles..holding your own against a school 2 classifications above you!!!
  11. Vandychris, As a fan of the Eagles...I am asking you to step away from the keyboard and take a break. Coach True??? 2 minutes to replace a player? (no clue dude) Chard--Off night shooting (6 of 9 from behind the arc-18 points) Clifton shot halfway decent---(11 points?) Man, what game were you at? Officiating will always be officiating. The difference in the game...Down 24-22 midway in the 2nd, I believe LC went on a 17-4 run to finish the half and the Eagles never recovered. We turned the ball over too much and gave away too many possessions. Hopefully it will be a different game at SHS. Go Eagles!
  12. Feeling appreciated and getting treated equally is a two way street...
  13. you beat me to it hooplove... VandyChris, I root for the Eagles too but you need to get the chip off your shoulder and get over it. As a fan, I am disappointed too but an opportunity opened up and he made a decision, which I assume was very difficult for him, based on what was best for him and his future. I am also sure that it was very difficult to walk away from those young "Lady Eagles" and the program they built together. I wish the best for Coach Willard and hope he great success at WCHS, except for a couple of times a year.
  14. Summertown hosts at 7. Mt pleasant hosts at 6.
  15. May 12, 2010 Summertown 11 Perry County 1 Huddleston not on the mound... Am I missing something?
  16. Well radio... Looks like your prediction of S'town losing next time Huddleston wasn't on the mound was a little off huh? But you probably didn't expect it to be against such a weak opponent in PC...
  17. or be the sophomore son of a dad who likes to post on coacht
  18. Out of 35-40 games you say 3-5 may have had the outcome changed by the umpire. Well did it or didn't it? With that fuzzy math you say in 10% of the games you have watched the team that should have won didn't because of the umpires. 10%...Wow...anybody who has been around this game at this level knows that is completely absurd. Did you hear that sound of glass breaking? That was your credibility flying out the window. You are right...this is fun, and now it's over.
  19. Lose a game that you shouldn't have because your team didn't play well? Sour grapes? How many games have you watched this year? And of all those games, how many of those have had the outcome determined by the umpires? That's what I thought. And contrary to what you say, umpires have absolutely no control over what coaches can and can't say. Just like i have no control over what you can and can't say, no matter how unintelligent it might be. Coaches control what they say and how long they get to stay. Umpires don't eject coaches, coaches eject themselves.
  20. Actually I think Summertown by a decent margin has the most talent top to bottom and all around defensively(raw ability, fundamentals, baseball skills) but has also been the most inconsistent. There have been games when they looked like defending state champions and have looked at times like they would be fortunate to make it out of the district tournament.
  21. TW and rebel are correct! No runs can score during action when the 3rd out is made by the batter/runner before he reaches 1st base. An appeal of the batter/runner missing first base would fall under this rule. FED 9.1 Exception a also... If a missed base appeal is a force-out and results in the 3rd out, no runs can score. Ex: With R1, Batter hits homerun. R1 misses 2nd base and is called out on appeal. No runs score. FED 8.2.5 If a baserunning infraction is the 3rd out, runs scored by the following runner(s) would not count. With 2 outs, if the missed base was the first to which the batter or runner was forced to advance, no runs would score.
  22. That says that your catching isn't good enough to get you to state.
  23. Did WC play Loretto last night? Any game info?
  24. RHSfootball1, Nobody "got in the umpire's face" as you stated. The play at 2b was a force play and the field umpire was mistaken and called the runner safe because there was no tag. This was not a judgement call that could have gone either way that resulted in the coach arguing the call. The SHS coach came out on the field and calmly talked to the field umpire and asked him to get some help on the play (force out/no tag required) to get the call correct. Players are expected to play hard no matter the score, umpires should umpire the same no matter the score and players deserve the backing of the coach no matter the score. Do you think the coach should have stayed in the dugout and not supported his defense? The 2009 CLASS A BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY doesn't have a slogan on it that says "just play/coach hard when it matters".
