  1. Goodpasture-53 Greenbrier-49 in OT. Greenbrier had a 1 point lead with the ball in regulation with 9 seconds to go. They miss a lay-up, GP rebounds pushes it up the floor....miss shot....GP rebounds under the basket...GB fouls with no time on the clock. GP hits the first FT to tie...then misses the second. Sent the game in to OT. This district is wide open.
  2. Why doesn't Portland call their games in?
  3. Who won the Greenbrier vs. White House freshman game?
  4. The only reason Greenbrier will have a long evening is because they should have won the game. Greenbrier missed 2 FT with 1 second to seal the win in regulation. Your hype of White House is way overrated. This district is much more even from top to bottom than I had previously thought. I have a question for the White House fans? Your school colors are blue and white. Why are your uniforms black?
  5. Greenbrier hosts Sycamore on 1/9. They play Goodpasture on 1/16.
  6. Not sure of the exact final score. Something like…..64-55. Greenbrier led the entire game sometimes in double digits but could never put it away. Portland made a run in the fourth with a series of 3 pointers from #32 (Cummings I think). #2 (Mr. Attitude) for Portland got a technical and #11 got an intentional foul near the end. Greenbrier hit their FT’s to finish it off. There was a lot of talk from the Portland fans about Portland should blow out Greenbrier because of their respective win/loss records. What they didn’t understand is Greenbrier may be down this year but they have played a much tougher schedule than Portland. Greenbrier has played some strong AA schools and a few AAA. Portland has played a single A schedule. With that said….Portland is much improved from last year. They are well coached, run the floor and shoot well from behind the arc. They are similar to Greenbrier in the sense there is not much size in the post game. White House and Station Camp are the top 2 teams in 8-AA. Greenbrier, Portland, DCA and Goodpasture will battle it out for the remaining spots.
  7. Kenton Coleman-Greenbrier-University of the South-Sewanee
  8. Here is one for discussion: Team A vs. Team B late in the 4th quarter. Team A leads by 3. Team A has 4 subs at the scorers table ready to check in. Team A fouls on a 3 point shot. Team B goes to the line and shoots the first FT. The buzzer sounds and one official motions the subs in. The other official runs up calls a technical for the subs coming onto the floor too early. The officials do not converse. The officials do not give an explanation to Team A’s coach. Team B shoots two more FT’s and then the 2 technical FT’s. Team B takes the ball out side bounds, but the officials still do not allow Team A’s subs in the game. During the next series of play Team A’s best player fouls out. Finally…the officials let Team A’s sub’s in. Too late. Team B ends up winning by 3.
  9. Congratulations to a fine young man and great athlete. His 4.0 GPA is even more impressive. Well deserved.
  10. Cobra…I agree. It’s like almost every other thread they are talking about how good White House is, how their going to kill their next opponent, how good they played this summer, one of the top teams in the Mid-State, they are going to state…etc…etc. While I understand these are probably kids rooting their team on….but come on…give it a rest. White House is currently 6-1. Congratulations. Out of their 6 wins they have beat single A East Robertson (1-4) by 11, single A Jo Byrns (0-5) by 9, Hume Fogg (0-6) by 4 and Smith County (1-3). They did beat a good Sycamore team by 1 and Upperman by 1 in 2 Hall of Champion games. I think White House is a good “AA” team. They are probably 2nd behind Station Camp in a weak 8-AA district. But they are not a top 10 team in the Mid-State….especially all classifications. They may prove me wrong down the road, but not right now.
  11. May I remind you that to be a member of this “Elite Poster” club, there are several requirements that you first need to meet. 1. You must pass a written and oral competency exam. 2. You must pass a thorough mental evaluation. 3. You must pass an intense and strenuous physical exam. 4. Get through “The Bulldog69 Boot Camp” without crying for Mama. 5. Be able to beat COACHARD in arm wrestling. 6. Have more screen names than BombSquad. 7. Get your real estate license. 8. Make up riddles and rhymes on a whim. 9. Know what buttons to push to get under peoples skin. 10. Learn to play the bag pipes. David Lipscomb-24 Fulton-18
  12. Congratulations to David Lipscomb. A very impressive win…on the road. There is no question the top two teams in 3-A will be facing each other in the title game. You could not ask for a better game to go watch in Murfreesboro. While Fulton offers athleticism, speed and size…..Lipscomb will counter punch with discipline, fundamentals and coaching. I know I have traded jabs with a few of the Lipscomb faithful in the past, but I have always respected the Lipscomb football program. All I have to say is….go finish what you started and bring home a state title.
  13. Why did you start another thread on this topic?
  14. The Tennessean reported this morning that MLK's Gerald Robinson score 64 points against a team from Memphis. MLK lost the game 89-79. Does anyone have more details?
  15. Any details on the WH vs. Jo Byrns game last night?
  16. The question is....will Darden show any mercy. I'm guessing....no. I was unable to attend....but I heard it was ugly...67-41....around there...
  17. You rang? Didn’t you hear? I was voted “Moderator for a Day”. I can’t explain the feeling I got….putting that X in the box. My prediction still stands since week 1: Lipscomb will coast to the 3-A championship game and play the winner of Knoxville Catholic and Fulton.
  18. Not hating on the Panthers what so ever. I just think they are still young....but they do play hard. The talent pool in Portland is not as strong as it has been in past years. I hope they do well this year. Good Luck.
  19. Have faith....Your QB may be the most underrated player in 3-A.
  20. Congrats to Sycamore!! I know Big Country is on cloud nine right about now..... Keep rolling...
  21. You should be ashamed. Amen. Good post. It's the really up to the athlete...and nobody else....to play multiple sports. They only go through high school once.
  22. Will this game be on the radio? Good luck Yellow Jackets!
  23. McMinn plays in a very weak district and region. MLK and Lipscomb had to go west to advance. And we all know that the better high school basketball teams come from the west…just look at the TSSAA web site for state championships. Let the season play out. Hopefully someone out of 8-AA will represent. I know White House has found themselves a good coach in Mathis. Good luck to all the 8-AA teams.
  24. Yes…I know 8-AA goes east for the substate. My point was….White House may win their district…maybe even their region….but they are still not a top team in AA in the mid-state…..much less the state. The elite teams are all in 9-AA. Therefore….they could not compete (if they played them) with MLK, Lipscomb…or Pearl. They would be similar to the McMinn Central team you played in the substate last year…..remember? It was simply an opinion… an observation…..maybe even a comparison….. Does that make sense?
