  1. Just so you know, i'm not from Dyersburg and have never lived there. Simply pointing out the way things in Newbern happen because I have informed sources in the area that have first hand knowledge of how it is.
  2. Ok sure, whatever you say. Just like Butch never recruited either huh?
  3. Yeah, Dyer County with all the kids they recruited from Dyersburg.
  4. Exactly!!! But hey, nobody wants to win anyways, it's all about having a good time. Good post!
  5. I'm not sure who Ridgeway has this year because I haven't seen them play. I did see them the past two years and I must say, they ALWAYS have some kids that know how to play ball. Look at Derek Byars at Vandy for example; a Ridgeway alum. Anyone who has defeated Raleigh Egypt this year has a very good basketball team. In that light, don't sleep on Craigmont either. As always, Memphis will be well represented in AAA.
  6. I think all the rain and snow must be getting to our fellow Americans on the left coast. I feel that booing is an expression of personal feeling and such is protected under the first ammendment which provides for the freedom of speech. I don't even feel that booing is influencing anything at games anyways. If fans want to boo, let them boo.
  7. Another thing to take into concideration is the fact that this will be Humboldt's third strait trip to the state tournament. Last year in A and two years ago in AA. They are extremely atheletic. They're basically a AA team in A because there are 5 high schools in their county that's not that big. Before joining the A ranks they were in the same district that has produced the last 3 AA state champions and the runner up 3 years ago. They are quite capable of beating teams that play a running style, that of which they did against Union City in the reigon tournament. I could be mistaken but as usually is the case in A espically, when you get to the boro, you see a different class of athelete no matter classification or size. Just the same good luck to both of these teams.
  8. That's the way it should be, but in my years of watching basketball across the state, few teams match the athleticism and talent of the teams that come out of west tennessee and Memphis. Hopefully Howard is a good team and will be able to compete against Mitchell, however the last 3 years the final day of AA has gone like this, Bolivar vs. Jackson South Side, Bolivar vs. Raleigh Egypt and Liberty vs. Mitchell. All the same, much luck to Howard.
  9. I'm not sure that i would call Giles over Bolivar a surprise. Bolivar probably has one of the weakest teams they've had a a long time. Even before Willie and O Kemp, Brian Lake, the Jackson South Side transfer Wayne Chism, Bolivar had some studs that go by the name of Ashley Champion and Cameron Crisp. Possibly the teams between these sets of dominat players would have compared to this years squad. Keep in mind that Bolivar is extremely young this year. I'm looking forward to seeing all the remaining teams in the boro.
  10. I just don't see anybody beating Liberty this year. They have the expirence with nearly everyone back from last year's squad that had to defeat the top 3 teams in AA last year to win it all in Bolivar Central in reigon 6-AA's championship game, Haywood in the first round of state, and the move on to face Mitchell in the championship game. Not saying the teams this year aren't worthy of being where they are but lets get real, there is no team that could match up to the power of AA's top teams from a year ago. I'll go out and say that the Giles Co. Mitchell semifinal on Friday night will be the best game of the AA tournament shoud it materalize. Either way, i'm comming in from 1300 miles away for the tournament so I'm hoping for a good one.
  11. Liberty Giles Co. Mitchell Who cares, i'll say Dyer in a close one Boy wouldn't Thaddeous Young, Brandon Powell and company love to be back for a rematch of last year's championship game which is where I see this one heading.
  12. Oak Hill? Is Dexter nuts? I mean Liberty is good but nowhere near that good. Not only is Liberty minus their best player from last year who carried the team when everyone else decided they didn't want to play, they don't have near enough size to match up against Oak Hill. Don't try to tell me that beating Mitchell last year will count as beating a team with size that is elite. True that Mitchell did have elite talent a year ago but would anyone like to tell me how many times Thaddeous Young touched the ball in the last 4 minutes of that game? Oak Hill's coach knows who to get the ball in the hands on when the game is on the line. Oak Hill will also not crack under pressure like Mitchell did. Lucky for Liberty that Michael Beasley isn't around anymore because it would really be ugly. All the same, i hope Liberty does have a good year and can carry on the tradition of very good teams from the western part of Tennessee.
  13. Wade Bonner, the kid is a game changer. I can't wait till next week to see Fayette Ware play Southside.
  14. I attended the Crockett Dyersburg game friday night and i will have to say that Bolivar doesn't have much of a chance. Crockett is good, but i'm not sure that they are good enough to go all the way. I mean no disrespect so don't take it that way but there were a few things that i observed friday. If Crockett plays a team that runs a wide open 4 reciever offense, it will be hard for the Cavs to stop because of the 5-3 defense they run, no Dyersburgs offense doesn't count because the quarterback couldn't throw a complete pass over 10 yards, I am talking about a "real" passing team. I also feel that there were times when the playcalling was questionable for Crockett. When Dyersburg had a little momentum and Crockett needed to use clock and gain yards, they ran two consecutive plays to Ron Johnson, who is the 3rd best back on the team. Also when Crockett had second and like 25, instead of trying to get a little each down, they threw two deep balls on the same play consecutive times. Crockett is a good team don't get me wrong, i am just trying to point out some flaws that it wouldn't be suprising to see someone take advantage of. Just so you all know, I was totally neutral friday night, i was slightly pulling for Crockett cause i know a lot of people who went to school there as well as used to play against them. Just the same, good luck to Crockett, hope you can stay injury free and we'll see how good you really are come November.
  15. I am shocked that someone had the nerve to even start this thread. But i do enjoy the fact that everyone is smart enought to pick a lopsided score which this game will produce. For years USJ has been the "darlings" of the Jackson media. The only good football players the've had were Trey Teauge and Franklin Payne. I didn't see Teauge but i did see Payne, and i'll give it to him, the boy could play. The day Ronnie Carter announced the multiplier, i was so excited because the A schools that got so much hype about being good, would actually have to play some real competition. I am sure I'm not the only person who feels this way. Milan has had talent, good coaches, and great tradition for years. I'm going to enjoy reading about the final, lopsided score on Saturday. The Dogs roll in this one 63-10. For those of you who go, you will probably get to see the talented freshman team, who i heard is better than the JV team. And for those of you who wonder, i am NOT from Milan, nor do i live close.
  16. I hope he does well because there is some talent that diserves a chance to go to the next level. I didn't literally mean "i could coach Melrose and could get kids noticed," i was just refering to the fact that Melrose is one of those schools who will continue to have DI caliber talent. I have much respect for coach Thompson and the entire FW program. I am looking forward to seeing Bonner becuase if he is a top twenty player in the state, it will be a treat to see him on the field.
  17. Just so you guys that aren't from McNairy County know, Adamsville hasn't beaten McNairy since 1984. The coach of Adamsville at the time was Tommy Browder who is now at McNairy. As for coach Thompson getting players noticed, he does help the kids in a way but i could coach Melrose and could get kids noticed. Fayette-Ware has always had talent, i played against them and i have been saying ever since that outside of the 2000 South Side team with Jabari Greer and Ridgeway of 2000 who featured Roosevelt Cathy, Ruben Mays, Radale Pearson "2000 Mr. Football" and 2001 Ridgeway with Willie Henderson, Will Hudgens, they were the most TALENTED team i ever played against. I'm glad for them they finally have a coach that can capatalize on such talent.
  18. I'm sorry but i don't think that Liberty could have beaten Hamilton. Mitchell lost to Hamilton twice in the regular season. Hamilton can handle pressure better than Mitchell. They played smarter over the duration of the week. It is true that AA is very strong but I would not go so far as to say that the classifications are overrated. As a whole across the state, AAA is probably the strongest. AA is very very close though.
  19. Actually that's 3 gold in 3 years, Bolivar in 2004 2005 Liberty in 2006. Also home to the 2004 sliver, Jackson South Side.
  20. If you want to see some highlight reel dunks, come, it will be fun to watch. Mitchell by 25 or more.
  21. I have been at every game so far. The officaiting has been so so. They have called it pretty tight on the perimeter and have let them play inside. I don't have a team in the tournament so i am totally unbiased. They have let the teams play in the paint which i feel is a very good thing. This allows the kids to play with aggressiveness and go after the ball. It has made this years tournament much more plesant than in years past when the officaiting was very pickey inside.
  22. I agree, Andre Thorton is going to be the deciding factor. Young will get his. Powell is a very good shooter. The problem with ANY team that relies on outside shooting too much; i have been at every game for the last 2 years at state and one thing is always true espically for the first game, nobody shoots well in the Murphy Center. The arena type being different from a regular gym throws off most of the shooters. I know Bolivar and Mitchell have played in arenas of this type and might be used to it but still, i don't expect either team to shoot well from outside. Mitchell by at least 5 it's gonna be one heck of a game with 5 DI signees on the floor.
  23. He did play at Hamilton but he played transferred to Larinburg after he graduated from Hamilton before going to Memphis. He was orginally a member of the class of 2004 if i'm not mistaking.
  24. Sigel is not as talented as Hamilton, Raleigh Egypt, Mitchell or Bolivar. These teams have the most talent in the state. Hamilton, who Sigel will more than likely play in the semifinals, has more talent than the Ridgeway squad that ended Sigel's season a year ago.
