First of all, there were closer to 3,000 people in the gym, but the number doesn't matter. What does matter is that our student section seemed to be intimidated by those around them.
Secondly, you didn't START any tradition - you simply revived one that's been around for oh, only about 30 years, and although the student section is doing a great job this year, don't think that you invented anything new or necessarily do it better than students in the past.
I DO appreciate the support the teams have received this year, although I also must say that until the Chester Co game I don't believe the section has been quite so vocal for our girls, and I'm sure our Lady Cats would agree with me. We spend a lot of time thinking of ways to get the crowd involved, and it's so much more fun for everyone when the student section cheers. It's just very disappointing that no one was willing to show any support when we most needed it. The student section was not completely scattered; at least 75-100 people were seated together, and although there were other schools represented in that section, it shouldn't have stopped anyone from cheering from their team. I saw people all over the balcony, standing side by side, wearing green and maroon alternately, and it sure didn't sound like any of those fans held back. The bottom line is we dropped the ball when it counted. I would hope the student section is present at each and every ballgame and shows support for both the Lady Cats and the Bobcats, and isn't ashamed to show their loyalty no matter who they're sitting with. I'll repeat a quote from a few weeks ago - "May your blood forever run blue and your heart beat gold" - Once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat!
