  1. Beech split with MJ and tournament play is not a true indicator of how good a team is... Secondly - the polls came out before Beech and MJ played Oakland beat Beech 7-0... see my point check out the record of the DII teams - there are only a handful who have winning records - DII Large is way down this year as is all of HS baseball in TN
  2. totally disagree - the pressure is mom and dad expect their baby to be the next star in whatever sport they are playing - parents want that scholarship $$ - they spend enough money on private lessons, travel ball, etc to pay for tuition and it is the total reason why kids get burned out on a sport... i grew up in the 60's and 70's and if you were good enough athlete you played them all (fb/bkb/bsball)... there is totally too much specialization in sport these days and kids get tired and go thru the motions... it becomes a job, not fun for alot of the kids... there are always exceptions... face it - most kids are not going to play college sports... they should play because they like to play, have fun playing and are pretty good at it... there's more to life than this... isn't there?? The lessons learned from playing sports are more valuable than a trophy that says you won this or that...
  3. that is ridiculous - where did you coach, who are you are my first questions - then we can see exactly how successful you were - so unless you are Quarles at Maryville or Flatt at BA then... you can expect all you want - it doesn't work like that in HS athletics period and if that were the case - exactly how many schools each year could be called successful??? not many - that would be 4 schools who reach the semifinals - most don't work hard enough??? it takes more than work - mostly talent (chicken salad theory), some "want to", some coaching, and some luck never hurts
  4. what is CAK's won-loss record?? district record??
  5. can you get an f stop of 2.8?? or is this the cheap version of the lense - a good 2.8 lense will run at least $1000 and you can't use extender on the lense because that runs minimum fstop up to 1.5 times or so higher than 2.8 - you need at least 1/500 but as close as you can get to 1/1000 shutter speed to stop fast action like swinging a bat also - what is your iso set at?? some camera's you can crank up iso to 3200 even 6400 (nikon d3) and get great shots with workable noise
  6. you are absurd when you can't understand the polls came out based on games before those were played - its easy to look at the poll and see it tells you when it came out - those records are compiled over a 3 day period and posted on midweek on games thru previous Sunday... you are an idiot
  7. I am not saying RE isn't good - they are - but I've seen Melrose with 6'10 guys, etc... all I'm saying is I was "expecting" more.... they are good - but not as good as I thought they would be... the gym is actually horrible.. too much light from outside comes in on one end and the other end has drapes over the glass so it is dark... the teams that shoot on that end don't shoot very well due to the light and the fact that HS kids aren't used to the background anyway - you add the bright light and that makes it real tough... i was on the floor and saw it for myself and by the way, beech did not come out of the 1-3-1... and they won't.... i've seen them play a few times, even games they lost and when teams stall they stay in it and chase the ball around... most teams will throw it away or take a dumb shot... RE was the more athletic team and when Beech plays teams like that they don't do well from outside - those 3's they missed weren't wide open - there were hands in there face on most... NE reminds me of RE but they aren't as good and disciplined as RE, but physically they are similar... RE's coach must do a good job of getting them to play like he wants them to play - in other words the cart ain't leadin' the horse - I was impressed with RE and like it was said - they clock in and get it done.. also - the kids seemed to be good kids - no trash talking, etc in the game and saw the after the game and congratulated them up on the concourse and they were very polite... i hope they win it all
  8. were they shooting on the end where all the light comes in (end closest to football stadium)??
  9. i didn't leave after that game... NE was pathetic as was Bearden... did you see the first half stat on NE - no assists in the first half... they all stood around and watched as the person with the ball dribbled away - neither team is very good... in fact Beech kicked NE's butt a week or two ago... you don't have to win to be one of the best... NE got a great draw period... the display of offense in the first half was terrific wasn't it? your guys can dribble pretty good... Bearden was not very good... lot of hype, thats all
  10. Has anyone noticed that on one end of murphy center they have a curtain covering the windows and it is dark and on the other end it is open and a bunch of light comes in... i watched games there yesterday and the sun wasn't even out and the background is very tough with all the light behind the backboard I noticed that the teams who shot on that goal shot very poorly the half they shot on that end Has anyone brought this to attention of those in charge - If you go watch games in the afternoon - go to the east end and look - it may not be that visible from the stands.. but from the floor you look right into the light as you shoot
  11. the only thing bearden is going to stop is the bus in the parking lot of their school
  12. You here all the hype about Memphis basketball, but this team was a dissappointment from that sense... they are just what you say - and there's nothing wrong with that... saying that - their athleticism hurt Beech's offensive game due to making them rush some shots... but the Buccaneers missed enough free throws to win the game plain and simple, vanilla if you will! I think the best two teams played in this game... which is why I don't like the blind draw, but there's no way to accurately rank teams anyway (Bearden!!)
  13. I'll second, third and fourth that!!! Best two teams I saw yesterday were Beech and Raliegh Egypt
  14. 3-6-3

    9AAA

a little talent, has trouble staying focused for 2.5 hours (length of game) beech can't hit or don't want to hit.... i was told they barely swung the bat in a scrimmage vs Coffee Co. and were destroyed by 10+ runs... cant score if you don't hit, can't hit if you don't swing
  15. Beech actually beat the Creek in '90 when the team were virtually all juniors... the next year they lost on the road in the sectionals.... Allen is a heck of a player when healthy, but you can't get in shape enough in a few weeks like the guys who have played all year... I think he gives them an emotional lift for sure... and he is a great kid!
  16. Reece Chamberlain, Steven Dorse, Tyler Brown and MVP John Taylor led the Bucs to their first Region Crown in several years... Beech 54-50
  17. not anywhere close to 90%... how could he be with a torn acl in November in 3rd round of playoffs - its a miracle he could even dress and get on the court... he's basically in "October" form for a basketball player... he may give them an emotional lift more than anythingj... hope he doesn't hurt it, it's awful early to come back from that injury
  18. block scheduling is bottom line $$ saver for school board - less teachers required graduating early was a problem - in sumner they've figured out some stuff to keep them in school the second semester of their senior year
  19. are clarskville middle schools playing football? if not it would be horrible - that's like starting 2 years behind clarksville football is horrible - oh occassionally they'll have a good team - kenwood was good when arrington was there and northeast was good a few years when butler was there, but for the most part clarksville football is not good
  20. no sense in doing this - i found the tssaa live stats - so everyone can go there - it is the d 1 brackets and live coverage link td jackets on 2/11 play
  21. big run by seay off rt tackle to 40+ next play big run to jb's 41 yard line next play huge run to jb 22 1st and 10 5yd gain to 17 2/5 - edwards to 14 3/2 - edwards to 8 - 1st and goal less than 1 minute left in 1st quarter 1/8 - edwards to 6 2/6 - seay takes pitch - jackets jump offside 2/11 - quarter over
