  1. Good point. It is hot just coaching on those 95+ July and August days. We don't even have to wear any gear. Sometimes we wear shorts, which I'm sure you guys love.lol Usually the uproar from the fans is not nearly as loud or as often during the dog days. I'd be willing to bet you won't have many takers!!
  2. Yeah, Hayes is very good, but I can think of a few in the West that are better pitchers. They might not throw as hard, they just know more about how to pitch. I don't know enough about Brown to comment.
  3. If you guys like hard guitars that still have melody, The White Stripes are perfect. Nothing like a octave splitter to make one guitar sound like two! Also: Nirvana, Bruce, Soundgarden, DMB, Jack Johnson, Metallica, AC/DC, Jimi, Allman Brothers, The Dead, Gov't Mule
  4. Yeah, maybe I missed on this guy. We'll see in time. No sense taking up anymore time or space on this board though. I'm done!
  5. Ignorance, that usually doesn't spark such a reaction. Does it? I've done more research on showcases and other things concerning baseball than you can imagine.Comedic is a nice word though. Your laughter at anything I say is riseable.
  6. I doubt every little thing McDonald does with Rizzo's approval has to be approved by the team president as well. Anyway, I think Chad may have missed on this one. Maybe he is just taking a huge leap of unbridled faith. Who knows?
  7. I doubt Mike Rizzo or Jerry Dipoto has ever heard of this kid, but if you say so.
  8. You just don't get it. Do you? They're rip-offs. Why would I blast one as being no good, and then say I was invited by a "scout" and go? Here's a thought. Sometimes real scouts come to see talent. I think that is why they are called scouts. Most blue chippers don't travel around to get looked at. They get SCOUTED and found. Think about that and get back to me.
  9. If K's mean that much, then sign the kid at Riverside up too. He's got over 30 right now. By the way, certain daddys can buy their way into any tournament. Don't be fooled. That invitation only stuff is just a front!! It is all about money. Size is important in pitchers, but not as much as you think. A frame is one thing, but don't pretend stuff is unimportant. I think there are probably more 6' and under pithcers thatn 6'5" and over pitchers. If a midget consistently get outs, he'll have a spot on the roster! The most important oversight on your part is the facts. Anyone who has seen this kid throw, barring his parents probably, knows he does not throw 86-88.
  10. I wasn't laughing at anyone. I just think you may have overestimated this kid. D1, now that is a different story. If that is the case, then I've seen 100 D1 players already this season!!

    Steroids

Steriods, while not against MLB policy until recently, have been illegal in the U.S. for years. I think that overrides any league policy. Why do you think they have to get them from Mexico? They will enhance some aspects of an already capable baseball player. However, especially when taken by kids without medical guidance they will increase the risk of serious injury. They greatly increase the risk of complete muscle tears as opposed to strains. Most kids do not know the most effective ones to take for baseball, nor are they aware of the most healthy cycling procedures. None of this is in any way targeted at glorifying steroid use by athletes. However, professional athletes generally take many things into consideration before using steriods, and many are under medical advice of doctors. This is totally different from a high school kid buying a cycle because he heard Barry Bonds uses them. Finally, the price of steroids rules out the majority of high school kids even coming into contact with them. Check into it!! Just my thoughts.
  12. I think if the bar needs to be moved at all it should be lowered. You may have seen a couple of guys throwing 90+, but I doubt it. Although you may have seen two of the best pitchers in the state right in a row. Regardless, of these reports it is hard to believe that over a handful of pitchers throw over 94. This should be a short topic. That is, if there is any truth in the responses.
  13. Just a reply to this post. Who was driving the Corvette? Are you kidding? More like 78!!
  14. College baseball is entirely different from high school baseball. The best high school pitcher you faced is on the mound seemingly everyday in college. You have to be able to handle offspeed stuff in college. You are going to see it more often. I see quite a few high school baseball players who take the breaking stuff early and then chase it late. Some won't swing at offspeed stuff at all until they get two strikes. Chances are if you take the get over offspeed stuff early in the count, then the pitches you get late are going to be much more difficult to hit.
