  1. I think Hardin County and Brighton are both going on to the region, not Munford. /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
  2. You are exactly right P/T. At this point in our season, we are all playing quality teams and the biggest challenge we face is to play to our potential. The tigers have as much talent as any team. However, Coach Geno Miller is pretty shrewd and you have to give the devil his due, his team will not roll over tonight. The Tigers have to show up and play to their potential. At this point, the Tigers, Bruins, etc... should focus and be prepared for the next game. Let the coaches worry with stategy for future games on down the road. That's why they make the big bucks anyway! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  3. I think both of those teams are looking forward to crossing over in the region. Hopefully, it should be some good action from all sides. Good luck!
  4. Good luck to all the teams in District 14AA! /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> Now the fun begins! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  5. Congrats to Munford on a big win! Bartlett fans, don't hold your head down at all. Munford is a very very tough team. Besides that Bartlett, how many teams would love to have your record? I'm glad you guys show grace, even when losing. The sign of a good team. Good luck to both Bartlett and Munford. Good job guys.
  6. How about 14AA region 7? In 06, the state champion and runnerup came from the same district! (Covington and USJ). Also in that district is Ripley, a state champ from a couple of years ago. In the region you still have Milan, former state champ, and some tough competition from Dyersburg, Dyer County, and last year's Cinderella team, Gibson County. That's a lot of competition in a 40 mile radius.
  7. Looking sort of bleak on Wednesday, if you look at the weather forecast, major thunderstorms. Maybe they will close the top on the stadium?? /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  8. It's hard to pick up games in the middle of the season. Everyone's schedule is pretty much set. It's a tough break for USJ to have to scramble like this. BTT
  9. I would say that the Ripley/Covington game will be a good one. As I recently heard someone say, it does not matter if one is undefeated and the other is winless, they both get up for the game. Tonight's game with Dyer Co. should be a little closer as well, considering the game is home for Ripley, although Dyer Co is having a very good year so far. I'm sure they plan on bringing it. Good luck.
  10. Zach is a junior. Last I heard he was maybe able to return by the post season. Nothing torn, just strained bad. Very lucky. This info is a few days old though, maybe someone has new info.
  11. DG, I can't speak for TNSportFan1, but I do have a question for ya. Can you tell any details about the game last night, who pitched, who hit, any errors, close game, how each team played, etc...? Who's pitching tonight? Thx! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  12. Mr. empty skull is perhaps from the Milan area? In any case, I see some real truth in his post. USJ wants their rivals to bring their best. That's how quality programs improve, by playing the toughest competition out there. Any consistantly successful program gets it's share of groupies that try to take pot shots. Just look at this forum for the GoodPasture topic, or the Bartlett Topic. People love to bash something successful. I would say that Mr. Empty Skull is so insecure about his sports life, that jealousy is overriding his common sense. Grow up little boy, and come back when you can converse on an adult level. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  13. I saw that game and came away with two thoughts. One, USJ just gave that win away. Nothing bad about their pitcher, he was great, but he was tired and needed pulling. The second thought, was the Goodpasture is a dangerous team with some good sticks, and given half a chance, they can certainly come back and pull out a win. Oh by the way, they do make some obnoxious noise in the dugout. It takes away from what the team could be.
  14. I think Bartlett should worry about ECS for this reason. Bartlett is their own potential worst enemy right now. They have played a lot of baseball, and won a lot. It is easy to not be pumped up for yet another game that they should win. Coming into a game a little flat will let a team like ECS get all over you before you know what happened. All the great talent and coaching may not be enough to come from behind on a team like that. ECS is a very good hitting team. Bartlett just needs to use smart pitching, hit the ball, and try to minimize the errors. In other words, do their job, but do it right from the start. You can't afford to look past anyone at this point. Good luck! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  15. That's the sign of a great team. They don't win by one big hit or one big inning, they relentlessly keep pecking away each inning piling up points. They don't get rattled, they just keep pecking away. Good coaching, good kids, and great chemistry. Replying to Is Bartlett as good as they say they are? Yep, probably better. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  16. You are right on pops! Not only who has the better pitching, but when they have to use it. You only need to use enough to win and you always need some backup. Normally it's not who has the best pitcher, but it boils down to the better #3 & 4. That's where you make it or die. It will be a tough battle, but I am saying watch out for Munford. Young and dangerous. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  17. Who will start pitching for each team?
  18. Quoting the Jackson Sun : USJ 12, Ripley 2 Ripley 000 200 - 2 3 3 USJ 201 603 - 12 12 1 WP: Clayton Gant (6-1). LP: Hargett. 2B: R - Edington; U - Benji Fesmire, Josh Liles. 3B: U - Will Glenn. HR: R - Vandergriff; U - Glenn (1), John Wills (3). Record: U 22-4 (5-0). You must have had an obstructed view, because fans and coaches from the concession to the high rise seats clearly saw a great but unsuccessful effort to catch the ball. The ball clearly hit the ground. I can't blame the player for trying to sell that he made a catch, but it did cost them a run. I just reread the post from FFoe, and I don't see him getting on any fans. But since you bring it up... Concerning fan language, from the Ripley side, it was only one fan that stepped over the line and I am sure he regrets it now. Bad, sad, but it happens, so let's move on. Concerning the comment "How about that?", that was no fan. It was a recording just like all the other sound effects being played. The gentleman running the computer pushed the play button when the pitcher's pick off move occurred. He had no idea that Zach had hurt his knee. He stopped it as quickly as he could. Again, bad, sad, but it happens, so let's move on. There was nothing last night but fans pulling hard for their team, on both sides. The other stuff was simply distractions.
  19. Handing out free money to the fans would be a real winner. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  20. Great news. Glad to hear you will be there. It promises to be a good game. Maybe the weather will warm up a little for us. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  21. We all know the post season can bring surprises, but I'm saying this is Adamsville's year. Been a long time.
  22. Haywood vs. Covington @ Covington Monday, Haywood Tuesday USJ vs Ripley @ USJ Monday, Ripley Tuesday. Who's pitching, Who's favored, etc... Been a little quiet from the district that produced State Champion and runner up in 06. /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> USJ and Ripley should be in a good matchup. USJ's record 21:4, Ripley's record 17:3:1. Predictions? /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  23. How true. It is a team sport. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. Put a weak player out there and watch the ball find him. By the way, this USJ team is a very close "team", and not just a group of good players. This is the closest group of kids pulling for each other that I have ever seen. From homework to baseball, they are a team. Get past the hype and talk to the kids, and I guarantee you will be impressed. I know I have been. Good luck bruins!
  24. Too funny! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Seriously, it's not uncommon for seniors to vary from 16 to 19 years old. Better check your team's roster before you get on here tossing stones. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
