  1. Yep, you're correct D.girl, the two games are in your win column. Didn't mean to imply that either team didn't have great kids. All anyone can ask if for the kids to play hard. These rankings are just a matter of opinion anyway. Good luck to your boys. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  2. 1. Univ School of Jackson - Hands down one of the better teams in the state. 2. Ripley/Jackson North Side- Ripley might edge NS out, but not by much. There schedule has been weak overall. 3. Covington- A struggling rebuild year for Geno. Still dangerous if you over look them. 4. Haywood- Young team, new coach, self defeating right now. 5. Fayette Ware
  3. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Right on brother! Short, sweet, to the point, and absolutely correct. I probably would not restrict it to just West Tennessee. That's a well coached team.

    young teams?

USJ should be a threat in the post season for the next several years. Their team only has a few seniors and Juniors, mainly sophmores and freshman. Big depth in young pitching. These young kids can hit too. Very impressive. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  5. A rematch of last years AA championship game between USJ and Covington happened last night, 10:0 USJ won. Anybody see the game or know any details? They play again tonight at Covington. Who is pitching? Any predictions?
  6. I agree. There are too many good things going on with that coach, program, group of kids, and Tennessee baseball, to let some cheesy yellow belly take anonymos negative pot shots. Let's talk baseball. Go Coach T. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  7. Lots of good baseball Coach Clark. Not bad concessions at your park either. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  8. Yep, Bartlett is one fine team. Look for them to go far in the post season. Solid in offence and Defence. Coach Clark is earning his pay very well indeed. However, I wouldn't count poor little USJ out of the money yet either. The old saying "what don't kill ya, makes ya stronger". USJ played 7 games in 5 days, and has one more today. I believe next week is another 6 or 7 games. Talk about depth in pitching, wow! While most are from a young freshman class, I heard they have 10 pitchers that can throw over 80 mph! /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> As for Gant, three days rest and a cold day versus one of the best teams in the state, that fellow has nothing to hang his head about. He's still a gem of a pitcher, and a super nice kid. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> So far their victims are not a shabby list either. Dyersburg, JCS, Bolivar, Munford, Brighton, and Crockett County. /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> It's still early, but don't be surprised to hear much more from both of these teams! Good win Bartlett.
  9. Well, I have not seen them play but I would say year in and year out, they are always competitive. That being said, I would be very surprised if they dominate after losing the senior team from last year. I would expect pitching to be the week spot. Time will tell. Good luck!
  10. A source close to the subject indicated you are correct, Josh will catch more than when Gant pitches. Trey is a good catcher already, and will be outstanding with his continued rate of improvement. However, he is just a freshman. If you have an important game, and Josh is available, why not use his experience behind the plate? That way Trey gets to develop at his own pace, no baptism by fire. Good coaching.
  11. The report I just got was surprising. The fans actually got along. Quite an improvement over last year. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> I guess it was just a scrimmage. I heard the score was USJ 20 something and JCS was 4. Can anyone confirm? Any details? /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> Again, it was just a scrimmage.
  12. If you are talking about the complete package, field, stands, etc..., then Briarcrest, USJ, Ripley, and Dyer County all have some strong points that make them very nice.
  13. Of these top 12 projected teams, how many are private? It is certainly arguable to say who are the top teams as well. USJ Covington Harpeth Dyersburg Lexington Notre Dame Goodpasture David Lipscomb Loudon Anderson County Seymour Rutledge
  14. I agree Newstang. Even those two need to continue to improve. The rest are really good high school pitchers, and may get shots at the next level, but probably not D1. D1 pitching is really, really exceptional. That being said, any of them, and more, could eventually make it to the big leagues someday. There is a lot of growing and developing that can happen between 16 and 24. So pichers, never give up if that is your dream. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />
  15. There are two guys that make it tough to get a ball up the middle. One is from Ripley, Kayan Norfork, senior. Dives, jumps rolls etc... Whatever it takes to knock the ball down. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> The other is Danny Grimm, Junior, from USJ. Lightening fast, charges the ball, and never stops to make the throw. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> Both guys are something to watch. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  16. Kayan (sp?) Norfork has been their ss, and a fine one he is. Lots of speed, heart, and a great mental attitude. He will play somewhere at the next level. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> The "Danny Ray" has some school issues and may or may not be ready to play this spring. I don't know the details. Time will tell. /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
  17. That's about the group I figured. I wasn't sure if any new folks showed up in the scene. I have heard a few comments that Lewis has improved alot. Should be an interesting year. Good luck.
  18. Who are the pitchers in the rotation, and who looks to be the top guy?
  19. If I remember correctly, his play time at Ole Miss was short, but definitely packed quality, as he was SEC Freshman of the year, or some similar title. They just don't pass those type titles out in a box of cracker jacks. He threw some serious junk, and could pin the tail on the donkey when he got ready. He is going to make an awesome coach when some school puts him in the head spot.
  20. I heard through the grapevine that at one game yesterday, there were over 15 radar guns behind the plate. That's got to be an awesome experience for the youngsters in this event. Good luck to all the Tennessee boys!
  21. MTSU did a great job of hosting the final games. Columbia had beautiful and awesome facilities. The people could not have been any nicer. Good job guys. Thanks!
  22. The USJ bruins are losing some fine seniors that will be tough to replace. However, there are several young kids ready to step up, so I'm sure it will be interesting. I wouldn't underestimate them. Summer ball will be fun, but come on 07 baseball.
  23. I know of two more lost subscriptions this week. The baseball coverage was weak, at best. Wake up Sun before your advertisers start to notice!
  24. Pirate88, your catch into the wall was one for all times. I still can't believe you were not seriously injured, and to hang on to the ball was amazing. I'm sorry the Jackson Sun didn't get the caption right. Good luck in the future, you had a great year and the bruins will miss you.
  25. Well said tgrman! One side of the bracket always gets the claim of being tougher. We all want to finish on top, but truthfully, a second place finish isn't too shabby.
