  1. No word yet on who it will be. They will have to be hiring someone soon because it will soon be time for tryouts and summer camps. Some that have applied for the job include current CCHS football coach McDaniels, CHS Jr. High girls basketball coach Allison Painter, and the former coach from White County that was the girls coach there when Kelly Jolly played for them. I'm thinking his name is Shockley or something of that nature. But these are just a few that I know for a fact that have applied.
  2. The state was full of talent this season. I believe that AA had the most talent of all with Beechboard, Hall, Johnson, and Hensley. Cait McMahan could possibly and in my opinion should...barring injury...be Miss Basketball in AAA the next 2 years. Her talent at the sophomore level is uncanny. I hate to see this season be over and lose such great talents across the state in girls basketball, but I'm sure there will be more memorable players and teams to talk about next year! My Tennessee Top 8 in all Classifications 1. Ashley Newman - Shelbyville Central 2. Cait McMahan - Heritage 3. Katrina Beechboard - Livingston Academy 4. Laura Hall - Oliver Springs 5. Alex Fuller - Shelbyville Central 6. Brooke Johnson - Seymour 7. Marissa Hensley - Jackson County 8. MIchelle Snow - Clarkrange
  3. It upset me a little bit because I thought a lot of Darian, but it's all over now. Macon Co. Basketball has to move on. Who in the world will want to step in and take this job? In my opinion, it would have to be someone young just looking for a good place to get his feet wet in a head coaching position because I don't think any veteran coach would want to go for the job with the lack of talent and with the politics of basketball in the area. What about Jeff Beam, the assistant for the girls at Macon Co.? That thought has crossed my mind several times, but I don't know if he will because he will be looking to take over for Coach Carter in the near future. And what about Micah Rochester from Hermitage Springs? He is a very intense young coach. Things could get interesting on the west side of Macon Co. Thank goodness we aren't having these kinds of problems on the east side.
  4. Rumor has it that he lost these girls (I'm just going to post their initials, don't want to mention names) - CT, WT, and I've also heard of another
  5. In Macon County, head coaches at the high school level make a $4,500 supplement. Junior HIgh head coaches receive a $3,000 supplement. If a coach is involved with being the head coach of both, they can only receive $5,500 per year because of the cap. If I am wrong about this, Macon Countians please refresh my memory.
  6. Here's the way I see it, sorry for being offensive to anyone but my goodness. It is ridiculous for players to quit a team because they don't like the coach. That is one of the worst excuses anyone could give for quitting a team. I don't care who you are. If they don't want to gut it out and play the absolute hardest they can just because they don't like the way things are run under the coach...then they need to shut their mouths with putting down the coach! When you play a sport, you don't play just because somebody asks you to do it. You play because you love it and want to excel in the game. It's a shame to let a coach get in your way! If you don't like the coach, then transfer or quit and stop talking smack about the man running the program! I know Coach Brown and he is top of the line. He just didn't have anything going for him in Macon Co. Good luck coach and best wishes from Red Boiling Springs.
  7. I know this is a girls' board, but I was completely unaware that Coach Brown stepped down. Did this happen yesterday or on Monday? It's a shame that he had to go out like he did. Coach Carter will probably be gone after next season. He may decide to quit now due to the players quitting. Coach Beam may get to be the head man sooner than we thought.
  8. 71fan...I graduated from Red Boiling Springs in 2003 and I attend Tech right now. It's a GREAT school that I have just fell in love with! Small and friendly campus, great administration and faculty, and small classes (except for the sciences). I am glad to hear that Kev will represent Macon County in the football program here at TTU. I think that one of his teammates (Derrick Gann) is going to try and play for them also. If I can be of ANY help with Kevin and helping him register for any of his classes, just let me know. I am already in the system and have learned a lot about what classes and professors to take. I also have a couple of friends that are engineering majors. Send me a PM if you have any questions about anything. TTU--Eagle Pride!
  9. With Volek signing a 4 year contract, the Titans have arguably the best back up QB in the NFL. I am so glad that he is going to stay. I just can't believe that a team wouldn't want him to be their starter though. He sure would make a good one. Any comments about this?
  10. Hey guys...just a message board! I don't want to see a big brawl between you two! Well...I have always been a huge sports fan. And as a coach, I know what is needed in any sport to win. Even though hockey was never on my A list for favorite sports, I have enjoyed it since the Predators have came to SMASHVILLE! My knowledge of the game has grown by leaps and bounds! The Preds have some good young talent. Hopefully, they will make this a playoff season and start something for years to come. Good luck Predators!
  11. Very good young driver. Reminds me of...oh boy...another Jeff Gordon. Similar backgrounds and driving styles, mirror images. Khane is going to be a good one. Leave it up to Evernham to get the great young talent.
  12. I heard that Farrah is also stepping down as the assistant coach.
  13. Positions 1 and 2 in the district should be a lock with Pickett Co. and Red Boiling Springs. Pickett returns four starters, while Red Boiling Springs returns Daniel Meador and Matt Heady from knee surgery. 3, 4, and 5 should be a real tussel between Clarkrange, Clay County, and Monterey. Clarkrange has some great young talent while Clay County will have Saylor Walden and Dustin Rich. I heard as a "rumor" and don't chew my head off about this, but it was rumored that two of Jackson County's better players are considering the move to Clay County. That should make for an interesting approach. Can't wait for season to be back again!
  14. The Lady Bulldogs of Red Boiling Springs High School will be hosting their annual team camp June 13-16, 2004. They already have a lot of teams, but the door is still open to anyone interested. We have teams from across the state. If your girls team is interested, contact Head Coach Larry White at 615-699-2365. Thanks.
  15. I know for a fact that the Red Boiling Springs Lady Bulldogs are attending the team camp at Shelbyville June 20 through June 23.
  16. Mt. Pleasant, CPA, Temple, Pickett Co., they should all be contenders next year. Even though they were overrated this season, Red Boiling Springs looks to be good again next year. They get Matt Heady back from ACL surgery, Daniel Meador returns, and everyone but Pickett Co. and Westmoreland loses their guns in the region. Look for them to be contenders next season. Can't wait for basketball season to return...I miss it already!
  17. Now Watcher....you sly dog you! I'd say Coe's chances of coming back will be slim, but yes she would be a great coach in my opinion. I'd say Painter's chances are pretty good, she is already employed within the school system. I think the system should wait around and see who applies for the job first...people within the system and also ones in the surrounding counties and search for the best credentials and someone who would help carry out the tradition that has been put in place in Clay County.
  18. DOGPOUND...that is the one name that I have been thinking about for the job. Coach Smith has had great successes in his career. In his playing career, he played for Pickett Co. in high school then went on to play for the Bulldogs of Cumberland Univ. in college. In his coaching career, he took the RBS boys from 2 wins his first year to 16 wins in his 3rd and final year for the Bulldogs. He then went back home to Pickett Co. and took the Bobcats to back-to-back state tournament appearances. Pretty good credentials for the Clay County job. You are true that he would bring an intense feel to the program. He can get carried away very easily. Coach Smith stepped down this season to spend time with his new daughter Ellie. He still teaches at Pickett Co. I just wonder if he will even consider the job...could be interesting.
  19. I want to know how in the world you people have got Larry White from Red Boiling Springs on your minds about this? He has the best talent in the school's history coming up, from 6th grade on up through. He has coached at RBSHS for 28 years, and he just won't up and leave the program that he has worked so hard to get where it's at today. Coach White and Coach Sims are the best of friends...but they're not that close! People might as well take his name off their list. TRUST ME, if anyone would know, I WOULD!. But, it will be definitely interesting to see who ends up getting this position. Here's just a name to throw out there for the Clay County fans...Coach Michael Dodgen from Smith Co. girls is a great young coach. He is not tenured with Smith Co., and he has tremendously helped that program out. They are looking to be good next year. He was a student assistant at Tennessee Tech in college. He could be a great prospect, but I doubt he would want to coach at the A level, he should only move up.
  20. I saw Coach Pyle yesterday at the Murphy Center wearing his Buffalo Blue. I doubt they will get rid of him...but who knows.
  21. A couple of my friends that I was at the Murph with last night for the boys tournament were treated rudely at one time. They wanted to go outside and take a smoke break and a lady working one of the entrances said that you can't go outside and come back in. Frankly, she was rude to us. We then walked around to another guy and he said he would stamp our hands so we could come back in. Luckily there is someone nice that works down there.
  22. Hands down the best and most exciting game I saw in the 'Boro today. When you thought Halls had it taken care of, here came Temple...and vice versa. The left hander from Halls (Strayhorn I think is his name) can really play ball. And remember the Seth Skogen Freshman from Temple, yes only a Freshman, he is going to be dynamite. Congratulations Temple and good luck on your quest for the gold. Great game and great season Halls.
  23. You got that right. T$$AA is in it for the money...However, if the move is made to Memphis, look for there to be a lot of complaints about the travel, even though Memphis may be able to pay for it. TTU is a great college, but the Hoop isn't a good place for the tournament. Depth perception is awful with the roll away goals and the dimly lit arena. It would accomodate me well though if it were being as I go to school at Tech. Just don't see it happening.
  24. Bibb won't leave Pickett. Forget about that I'd say. He's already sitting pretty up in Byrdstown.
  25. It sure is a shame for our district to lose such a class act as a coach! Joe treats everyone with the utmost respect, and he will be truly missed as basketball season rolls around next year by all. Earlier when there was speculation regarding his stepping down, it was rumored that Rob Edwards the boys coach wanted to take that program over also. Any truth in this? Again Coach Sims, thank you for all you have done for District 7A and the state for girls' basketball!
