  1. I believe it was Raider76 that said he was backtracking in the snow the other day from one of his windows and found that power adapter, and extension cord you were looking for before the wedding Saturday, and actually forced you to stay close to all of the Owls - and nearest outlet in the upper corner of the region 3 gym.
  2. Hey, at least Nic got the Tennessean's big OW of the year award over Kelly Felix last year. When I was talking to the guys over there, they were thinking the results from Nat'ls in Ohio could come into play (I was surprised they knew about them). Obvously they didn't let that stop them from giving that coveted award to our senior, Nic Bundy who earned it over the three previous years (especially as a soph in my book) More in liine with this topic of coverage,,, they (The Tennssean guys) said coaches are not good about getting them scores or they would consider running more on wrestling. The DNJ in Murfreesboro and Josh Beasley ain't bad, they usually report as coaches keep them posted on things. I just saw a great article on the three Miller kids at Riverdale and we should have some good stuff on Josh Patton if it hasn't already come out.
  3. Chad, you okay in my book. The devil made you do- post it. You don't know the BRickhouse do you? I should have known it was BB involved as his boy was at 145 and had a close 2-3 pt. match earlier that season in a dual. I think I did become satan to BB at the time. Hey, and voting Republican in Cleveland isn't all that bad now it it? I'll catch up with RC later, but right nowI think BB owes me one until I get the old one gback, based on his misinterpretation of the rules!! Good luck this week and make it close aginast SD!! (at least within 20 )
  4. Sounds like BC misinterpreted this filming rule in the Sommer's case. I want my tape back!! Steve, Chad and company, please make me a copy of the 2005 state duals final. Let's make it right!!
  5. Not too shabby, KJ!! Teyone Ware has won NCAA Division I wrestling titles at 141 pounds in 2003 and 2005. Ware, a junior at OU, is a 3-time All-American and former Big 12 Conference champion. In high school, in Oklahoma, Ware was a letterman in football and wrestling. In wrestling, he won 4 Oklahoma State titles and compiled a perfect 132-0 record. In football, he won All-District honors and second team All-State honors. TN wrestling looking better all the time!! Also, I have also heard John Lane is still on the mat and working over a fairly decent SD HS wrestler at 189 pounds.... and still giving up a mere 15-20 pounds. I always thought Kyle would be the one jumping up some 30-40 pounds overnight. What could Lane be doing now when you think of how close he and Jodan Leen were competing over the years.
  6. Yeah, I remember you guys charged up the bleachers and took that tape from my son's video at the duals too just a couple of years ago, and what made that interesting was he wasn't able to participate in state that year due to a cracked vertebrae. We understood the scouting rules,,, but to share with your family? + Smyrna didn't even send anyone to state that year. I'm sure you assumed it was going to be used down the road for more than personal reasons... Hopefully that distraction didn't amount to the 1 pt. margin of victory Franklin squeeked out at the end of the untaped match we couldn't watch. Oh well... Not sure what BCB was up too, but I'm sure he was keeping it all "in the family" and to insure the Bears and Blue Raiders could have the greatest level of competition possible this week. His response is a classic, though!! And it's nice to see Heath and some of the Bears united again, at least in part. BTW - Coach, why didn't you just use that old Brickhousechick name, as it has been dormant for a while now. Note: I can't imagine me or any of the coaches I'm presently working with being concerned about someone video taping a public event for non-fund raising purposes. Why do football teams swap films?
  7. Congrats to Cookeville for a strong finish and to the up coming star in Henry and others getting the points on the board!! WV takes a few to state too... way to go sly!! BC is same as usual, 'cept I certainly want to wish their 112 pounder* well in taking legman/laxton/Smith's coaching adjustments and running with them next week!! * I forget, what grade is the Blue Raider "Coleman like" kid in?
  8. Great finish for Hixson over rival RB. Kudos to Garrett and crew!! good job with a 10th and 11th grader at 189 and 215. Glad to see Toney back for SD
  9. Congrats to the Owls on a strong second. This is huge, but no shocker at 171 as I have been wondering what ND's Flynn may do by season's end. Great job against one of TN's most amazing underclassmen of all time, being 171 as a soph and 75-1 is almost unheard of, but a 112 soph is another matter. Glad to see that Wolfe take all the bumps this season and end up state bound with a big silver!!
  10. As expected, Josh wins a region championshhip and would have in most regions around the state. BTW- Pattonboysdad, Jay didn't need much coaching today as he is looking ver technical and riven to win. Congrats on his many wins today wrestling up against better competition!! Dave
  11. Tough break for the Rigger family. Glad you have next year though!!
  12. Congrats to over 300 young wrestlers who all got gols today!! Ryan's future looks strong today with a young crop of talented k-5. We'll have to work hard to keep up and build a tradition.
  13. ditto!! I just jumped on. Congrats on the best match too!! Smyrna ends up qualifying 3!! Way to go coach G of 2007!! Now, let's go see how Josh Patton did!!
  14. The beginners tournament has been seeded. The K-5th duals has now turned out to be a tri-meet at 1 PM tomorrow (Feb 10th), unless someone quickly calls to enter at the last moment. Remember, this is a qualifier for the Nat'l duals in the Tri-Cities area this spring!! FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CALL: BILL KENNEDY @ HM (615) 896-7172 @ WK (615) 898-7925 www.safewrestling.com Note: Update on Food for Coaches and Officials... Lots of Bar-b-que from various establishements including the Slick Pig and Corky's Ribs, Toot's Wings, Applebee's, Ryan's, Shoney's and Legend's.
  15. Fair enough. Maybe you're right, or I wasted it anyway, but what a treat it would be to come down and see TN's best COMPETE every year!!
  16. Again, your opinions are very helpful and mind stimulating, even for one who rides the "shortbus" as you know I do. HEREs IT GOES... Now, cleaned up as it should be (not to appear a gossip),,, I was impressed with the recent news (Ivy and all), and it shows what one can do if "content" in working hard to develop a track record of success within d1 + grades. That's wonderful news, as it turns out, and I'm very happy for you and yours!! It's a tribute to you, the Bear Nation and to TN... The Legman does not have to prove to me that the Bears are one of the top two or three over the past 15+ years, but we will really never know who's #1, year to year, until we see it on the mat as Steve Henry has chosen to do. By next week, I believe no one will question that in 2007 the top dog in TN wrestling is Soddy, because of Steve H. "choosing to take it all on" and never look back, except to adjust to win. Bury the hatchet Bear Nation and remove all doubt for the good of wrestling!! Thank you Steve Henry and crew for your choice to give all to the sport, and us fans, while not holding 1% back!! soms BTW - Soddy by 30 pts and tops in TN overall; Bradley 3rd overall in 2007, but overcoming great obstacles to get there!!
  17. Good point, but what Bill hopes to do this weekend is have as many teams as possible, but not combine more than 2 in order to avoid having the cream of the crop from several teams + have 5 deep per weight class. From speaking with Bill more... having 3 combined teams is stretching it, at least from the Chattanooga area. He's still open to a few more teams to add - BTW.
  18. I'm sure with learned experiences both on the mat and off. Congrats!!
  19. It's okay to combine a team or two from certain areas, but not all SD's, Baylor's, McCallie's, Bradley's, Ooltewah, studs ect. for a chatt. team. Holes may be adjusted or filled with other wrestlers, from other areas, but not considered TN's best to form some all-star team. Feel free to ask for more details from Bill Kennedy srokennedy@yahoo.com ...BUT contact him quickly as he is beginning the bracket process now.
  20. More info from Coach Bill: http://www.seaausports.com/sport.php?c=wrestling or www.safewrestling.com . Thanks to all that came to last weekend's K-8th event I hope all of you had an opportunity to get some great competition and valuable mat time. We are hosting are 6th Annual Beginner's/K-5th grade Dual Tournament this weekend at Blackman High School in Murfreesboro Tennessee. The Beginner's Tournament is for 1st and 2nd year wrestlers ONLY. Coaches please don't bring your studs to get mat time. Everyone wins in the Beginner's Tournament and we are hoping to get several rounds in this year with six mats. The K-5th Grade Dual tournament is an experiment for our experienced wrestlers who can't wrestle in the Beginner's Tournament. I know it is hard to put a full team together with these weight classes, but these are the weight classes for the AAU Elem. National Duals. I know we have the talent in Tennessee to compete, and I am hoping that we can harnessed and pull together this talent. The Sharp Shooters are even lacking several weight classes, but are putting together two teams to compete. Put as many of your kids together and get them some good mat time and start letting them learn how to wrestle in a dual competition. Please register for both tournaments at: www.safewrestling.com Thank You, Coach Bill Kennedy 6th Annual Beginners/K-5th grade Dual Tournament

  22. That Bono or any coach can make the final determination of who wrestles where? Of course Smith at U of M has his prerogative and has exercised it, so has other coaches. That's my point, and if someone wants to take issue with that,.. please do, I won't be offended.
  23. Good post!! Sometimes you have to consider the source...Some guys, although having some very insightful and helpful observations, cannot be content. They love to create a discussion that can benefit oneself. I know I can create no small stir too, but at least it's clear who I am and who I stand for…. That’s the betterment of wrestling for all of us throughout TN, not just in my former home town, Chattanooga (where I love to go – BTW). I try to be a fan and support “the sport” in all areas whether it be d1 or d2 - all over. Now, let’s remember that the sport of wrestling is growing statewide and does not revolve around any one person, the TSSAA, or Chattanooga only. The weather and maybe some past discomfort due to overcrowding were likely the main reasons for a smaller crowd this year.
  24. good points!! just my opinion based on overcoming hardship.
