I've seen both teams and there is " NO " comparison between the 2 teams. McKenzie will win this game and wear down the Falcons with "NO" problem. McKenzie size and smart decision making players will make this game look easy. I can say this because I have seen both teams play. McKenzie by at least 32 points!!!

The score really doesn't indicate how good McKenzie is even with the score being 21 - 21 at half time.. They really controlled most of the second half. They beat Union City in all stats tonight. They are VERY well balanced and I want to warn the Lake County bunch that Mckenzie probably will handle your team with ease as well. They are really big up front and have one of the best Quarterbacks in the state and only a junior. You have to take into consideration of his line ( Which sometimes gave him 4 to 8 seconds to throw ) and his receivers or all back from last year which they have 3 good one. This all makes for a good throwing quarterback for them. Union City scored on 2 turnovers by Mckenzie in the first half and then scored another T D. Union City did have the ball on the 5 yard line ( 2 ) different times , once in the first half with just under a minute to go and then again in the 3rd quarter and didn't score either time. Bracey was hard on the Rebels and they really couldn't match his speed and quickness. Union City was finally wore down by the BIG McKenzie Senior linemen. This game was won by McKenzie controlling in the trenches. I would say they are the best balanced team and overall best we have played so far this year outside of Milan and that would be close. McKenzie should go well into the playoffs barring no injuries. Union City may be a little down this year and another year to come with young players, but remember " Union City Doesn't Rebuild, They Re-load" Go U C !!!!

And who I might ask is GC ( Gibson County ). They have never really had much in the way of a football program there unitl last year when the " UPSET " Obion County. Now, if USJ had beaten " Milan " that might be a different story. The ole public school will show out in this game. Chargers by 32!!!

Westview, NO PROBLEM. They really have things going well for them. I saw them against U C and then on film/tape. Their defense is really good and DEFENDS the passing game well. Westview by 32 or more !!!!

Nice quote!! I hope this game is clean, not many penalties, free of injury and the best team to win. One thing most of you are not seeing and it may not mean much, I have seen most of the U C games and others teams on tape. Union City has not played with both #30 ( Flood ) & #33 ( Bracey ) in the backfield at the sametime since Flood went down with a injury in the Lake county game. Also Bracey is playing much better. This will be U C only chance and if Mckenzie's line is much at all that will be enough to give Union City a fit. U C Freshman kicker/lineman Arnold is out with a broken foot as well. I will say if Union city can keep this game close in the first 3 quarters then they might have a chance but if the Rebels come out smoking then Union City may not have enough water to put out the fire. Go U C !!!!

There won't be much to talk about after the McKenzie game either. Until Lake County gets a coaching staff that can be on the same page and same field at the same time Lake County might have a hard time. I saw every play of the U C vs. Lake Co. game and yes the first half was a good one for the Falcons but come the 2nd half a complete break down. Player weren't in condition ( L C players cramping / no U C players did that ). And until Lake Co. get about 5 to 8 more player who can play along with the other 14 who played in that game it will be hard. For example just look at Union City from last year to this year. That show that subs do matter.

Well, well, well !!!!!! Lets see..... I believe that Union City made it to the Single A finals last year and yes got their butts whipped. We also lost to every team that was in a classification above Union City. Whipped by a team that had just dropped from AAA to A classification. Yes, the Union City program is down right now and will take a few years to get back up like it was in the 90's. We have a strong 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th grade with major size coming up with that. Can any of you say that you have been to the finals in AA & A bass in the last 10 years? We do have " Silver " footballs in our trophy case to show for that. I know each of your teams would have given anything to go and even get beat 100 to 0 but that hasn't happen yet for you. I know with the Mckenzie Rebels that the records you set against Union City are there but along the same lines our record does go down as a team effort at runner-up in Class A in 2005. Yes, Union City has taken their licks and the best overall shown team with class, fundimentals and respect goes to the Rebels of Obion County. We may loose to Mckenzie and we may not but we won't be down long. The ole bumper sticker says, " Union City doesn't rebuild, we reload. Go Union City, Obion County and the South Fulton Red Devils!!

Look here " Butchie". Union City has a little suprise up their sleeve that will be new to ALL. Just waiting on the other Rebels to come to town, the Rebels that count. Flood will be ready and the secondary will be ready as well. This will be for the regional championship more than likely. Looking for a very good game from both and whoever jumps out to a early lead will be the team to beat that night. No, Union City really can't hang with the upper classes right now but McKenzie is a drop down as well. Go U C!!!!

I saw every play of the O C vs Union City game and it was mistake free football. If Obion County playes like that in the Covington game it will be a good one. One thing about O C is they do not and will not make many if any mistakes. This goes a long way against a team that may have better players. O c will give many folks trouble and may go to the 2nd or even 3rd round into the playoffs.

Well, I saw every play of the Lake County / Union City game and yes Lake county played very well in the first half but give the Union City defense credit. They kept Lake Co. close in the first for Flood / White and the U C offense take control in the second half. Coaching! Coaching! Coaching! is the blame for Lake County. I was not impressed at all with the Lake County coaching staff. Their players were cramping up and injuries big time. They lost several players in the Fulton County game the next week. It will be hard for many to go far with little support from sidelines ( I mean player #'s ). This is U C's problem as well. You have to have some back up to carry very far. You never know, U C and the Falcons could meet again and I know Lake County will be more than ready.

It really depends. We have all seen games that the rain has been problems for the runnin game. But with O C having so many to go to that might not be a problem and Grady is big which will be harder to bring down. On the other hand Union City has a somewhat decent passing game and could pose problems with slippery balls. Favor still goes to O C. I know they have watched the Lake County films and will not let being tired a problem late in the game. Friday night Union City will pull a few tricks out of the bag before Halloween so you never know. I just hope it is a fun, clean and injury free game for all and may the best team that night win.

I have seen both teams play and more of Union City. O C will more than likely come away with a " W " in this game. Reasons, a much bigger line on both sides of the ball, bigger backs and more to throw at you and they have more depth. Union City looks good at times and plays much better in the 2nd half if they are close at half time. One thing is, Flood #30 more than likely will not play in this game from what we are hearing and the James kid will be ?able . Union City will have their hands very full from the things I have seen and been told as well. If Union City plays defense like they did against Lake County in the First half of that Game then Union City might just have a chance in the second half but if the Rebels score 4 or more T D's in the first half it might be a long night. Union City will hold out some starters due to injuries and will not be at full strenght going into the game. This is because this game is ONLY for braggin' rights and nothing else and Union City still has to play McKenzie and Bruceton in their region. Good luck to both teams for a safe, injury free game and good sportsmanship.

I wasn't at the game ( Milan / USJ ) but that is what happens when you have a " Private " school that is full of kids who only get their way. I am not saying all private schools are like USJ but some are. They play on a different field than most. So Milan keep your heads up and look out from the backside because some kids only know how to play the wrong way when it is not going " Their " way. Union City Fan / Obion County Fan

2004 population count is just over 9000. Look it up for yourself. I just also have the inside on that and papers to prove. Union City offically never has had a population of 11,000. Also, with a county of 33,000, a brand new state of the art county high school opening this fall, 2 county elementry schools 3 to 4 miles outside of the city limits is the reasons for a decline in the enrollment. I will say this and is a TRUE fact, the school system is adding ( 2 ) new elementry classes due to a large number for K - 3rd grade. Enrollment is really up in those areas and if things continue like they are looking , Union City high school will be back up past the 500 mark in the lower to mid 2010-2015 classes. Union City use to be in the 450 - 650 range mid 60's through 80's.

For one thing, the players for Union City that did not play either were injured or other reasons. No, Coach Fishel did not keep anyone out that wasn't hurt. You say they shouldn't play these teams, just look at last year. The only loses U C had was to upper classification teams and the State Champs of 1A Trousdale County and they had just dropped back down from 3 A. Union City will not go as far this year but can play with most any team in single A. You play up to get better and injuries comes with that. I can assure you that U C did not leave anyone out that could not have played and wouldn't have made that much of a difference. Go U C !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

# 30 Lucus Flood which was the leading rusher for Union City against Lake County with around 160 or 170 yards I think. Also, #53 Moran lost his grandfather the night before and didn't know if he played or not. One other player was missing as well but can't remember #.

WOW, Milan Really made a big showing didn't they. Hey dude, all I am doing is giving praise to a great football team and you just want to sound like a jerk. I would really be braggin if I was you too ( Milan could go 3A and Union city is a large 1A or smallest 2A school ) . Both of these coaches are great friends and respect each others teams. 9 times out of 10 Milan will win year to year and they should because of yes, enrollment #'s, more to choose from etc. Union City didn't have 3 of their best player on the field , one which is allstate # 81 and is out with and ACL. No these guys wouldn't have won the game but would have made it a little closer. Watch what you say. Milan will suprise lots of folks in the playoffs this year. Crocket County will make it to the State Finals with NO Problem. How did you like last week little spankin' by the Cav's. Now you know how the U C bunch must feel. Union City will do fine and may loose to Mckenzie during regional play and loose to Obion County but from there be a winner. ( 7 - 3 or 6 - 4 ) Go UC.

As a Union City Fan and Obion County fan as well, I just want to say " Thank You " to coach Morris and the Milan football coaching staff for letting up starting the 2nd half. This just show that there is more important things than running up the score in sports. Milan from what we could hear could have beaten Union City 100 - 0 if they wanted and this just show the CLASS of the Milan staff to call off the dogs. No one can win by beating up on and team and Milan even kicked a field goal on a first down situation and scored their only points in the second half. My hats are off to the Milan coaches and fans. Good luck on into the season Bulldogs. Keep your heads up Union City.

From what I am hearing, Milan is loaded with SIZE and their ( 2 ) def#ive ends are very big and good to go with that. If the speed is there U C will have more than they want from what everyone says. I will pass this along, Union City will not be playing some of their key players due to late in the game injuries against Lake County and will rest these guys. Union City WILL NOT be at their best with players on the field and if this was a regional game it might be different. I don't think Milan will run up the score if they get the chance as well. Their coach knows U C is smaller, have injuries and less in #'s. Good luck U C and hope everyone plays a clean, injury free and fun game.

It might be a tough game for both teams but Union City may be somewhat smaller on the lines. The key might be how much Milan subs and how Union City might handle that. Milan has always been able to play guys only one way and this might be something that hurts U C on into the game. The coaching staff at Milan is a little ahead of what Union City faced last week against L C. This might be a much better game than most are planning on too. So this will be good experience for Union City and will help them down the road as well. There will a large crowd follow Union City down to Milan this week and it keep this tradition going. The one thing that Union City has that they have not had in the past is they are building a passing game. This game is only a ( L or W ) and will benefit Union City more so than Milan. We hope for a good clean injury free game. Go U C!!!!!

Let me say this about the Union City - Lake County Game. First, I was there for every play and will say myself along with everyone else at the game that Union City was done come half time. But, what everyone didn't realize is that the game plan for Union City was to keep Lake county under 21 at the half and U C knew they could win by watching the films. Union City's defense did just what the coach ask for. This was a Lake County 1st half and a Union City 2nd half. The difference was/is in the game - conditioning / lack of subs. UNION CITY completely wore down the Lake County team. You can't go far in the season or playoffs with the amount of players that played that game for L C ( 15 Total ). Union City will have trouble against Milan( and they should ) and if they play like they did in the second half might just beat the Rebels. Union City is very young and the #7 is young and not much experience so he is going to make mistakes. Four things for the win : #7 ( White ) , #30 ( Flood ), U C Defense and the team NEVER gave up. Go U C. Season predictions ( Wins / losses ) 8 - 2 or 7 - 3

I totally agree. Union City for one goes each year and plays in the Poplar Bluff Tournament and competes VERY well. They are usually the smallest team there by height of players. Just for example, look at Tyler Hansbrough at North Carolina Mens Basketball Team. He played for Poplar Bluff High School last year and they won two or three state titles with him. Union City playes against competition like this in Holiday Tournaments and during summer camps. They eat and breath Basketball 24/7, 365 days a year. Along with Lake Co., Middleton and many other western tennessee high school basketball teams. In order to compete on todays high school levels, you have to hit the court soon as the last season is over to keep up and if you do not then you will be left at home watching what the other teams can do. I can only speak for what is seen here in West Tennessee High School sports, if you do not have weight programs for the off season, training programs then you will pay the price for making it very far. I know during the week at the State tournament according to our local paper that the team ( Union city ) spent most of the time practicing instead of out sight seeing or watching other games. This was the player decisions not as much the coaches.

Marquis from what I was told by a very reliable source has been contacted now by University of Tennessee at Knoxville and ask to walk on for his Freshman year and then maybe offered a scholarship because Tennessee is going after a BIG man. Also, U A B is showing interest from what we have been told along with Murray State. Marquis would fit in VERY WELL at Murray State and look at the NCAA Big Dance record getting in at Murray and is also close to home. Where ever he chooses, everyone else is going to miss out because he is slipping in under the radar and a great , pure shooter that some good teams need.

Thanks on the Congrats on U C. One thing, I was not at the game but had Hundreds that were and most said that Cloudland just didn't have the players to compete on this level along with Wayane County and even Grace Baptist.. Not saying they didn't deserve being in M' Town ( State ), but when you get this far it's anyones game and most that made it usually are good. Not many teams make it to the State Tournament with only 14 wins and a credit to the Cloudland program. Union City is know for Basketball & Football and yes even the past we have had Baseball teams make it to the final games and just might have that this year. I think that the East & Middle State High Schools Sports gets more media attention State wide and then when it come to " tourney time " everyone from the East is usually over rated a bit. Union City Finally made it top the AP Top 10 the final week of the poles and now they have the GOLD BALL in their hands. I know that the 1st & 3rd Gold Ball we won in AA ( 90-91 & 96-97 ) not many gave us much of a chance to win those years but by the time our Coaches ( Marty Sisco & David Denning ) broke down film on the teams that we were to have played, they could have beaten most anyone at that time. We are VERY LUCKY to have coaches ( Marty & Shane Sisco ) that spend every minute for the Final 32 minutes in the State Tournament. Not many schools have what we have been sooooo blessed to have in Union City & Obion County. Another thing, if you notice you do not see Tatoos, Ear Rings , Long Hair and Show Boats when Union City Steps on any Playing surface and this goes for all sports. Our school system & coaches do not allow that. We show up with class, play with class, coach with class and leave the game with the other team fans saying " those were a nice group of coaches & young persons". We do loose a lot from this team but we will be back because the old saying here is " We aren't going to rebuild, were just going to RELOAD " . Great Job Union City!!!!!

I also agree. We are lucky here in Western Tennessee to see High School Basketball at it's best night after night. Not taking anything away from the eastern schools. 14 A was and still is a very balanced district and the teams were good for the most part. It is nice that the ( 3 ) Gold Ball came back to the Western end of the state . Union City, Jackson Tn $ Memphis all came home winners. This was the First State Championship Gold Ball in the History of Jackson Tennessee and think how many schools are around that city! Great Job to all teams from all parts of the state.
