  1. I didn't see the other refs. Both teams deserved better than those three.
  2. I noticed the same thing with the coaching. I also noticed players blaming one another on the court rather than pumping one another up. They just seemed to lack the cohesiveness and the intensity, coaching style could have something to do with that. Yeah, #1 did make the big mistake, BUT why weren't the girls told by the coach to set up defense down court? A player barely has time to catch the ball in 6/10 of a second, let alone square up and make a decent shot. Of course the refs had to call it--either that or TRAVEL /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  3. Anyone! What happened with WS v. Overton? I agree, free throws lost this game for WS, missing 5 of the last 6, but why would WS press with 6 10ths of a second on the clock? Bizarre. I agree, the refs should have called the foul. I also don't understand the rotation. Casey Gregory out scored all the other guards, sparking every time she was put on the floor. She should have seen more time. Can't quite understand. Philtenn hope you can offer insight.
  4. Well here's the scoop. The TSSAA Freshman Sectional Championship was held at American Way Middle last week between WS and Hamilton. The all tournament team was Ashley Smalls (WS), Breanna Rigell (WS), Hasina Muhammad (WS) MVP, Shavontae Bright (H), Diana Johnson (H). Other teams were Munford and Fayette-Ware.
  5. Good insight, but I'd have to say WS just has a stacked group of freshmen. All the varsity freshmen from other teams have also played on the Freshman squad (at least on the girl's side). I can't think of one exception.
  6. Good look Philtenn. The WS Freshman squad won the TSSAA Sectional this week and finished undefeated. By the way, with the exception of two players, the JV squad was an all freshman affair, they too went undefeated. You're right, the future looks bright! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  7. Good news travels fast! These girls did a phenomenal job in NC. Looking forward to seeing more. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  8. I do not in any way represent this team, in fact my daughter does not play on this team. I am just a fan, and as such do not have inside information on the specifics of any girl. The intent of my original post is clear, and, therefore I will not belabor the point that I in no way made mention of any single player, but rather the team and its coach. My prediction was based primarily on the list of accomplishments this team has amassed so far this year, and I look forward to them adding the State Championship to that list. Then, who did what and how many times won't matter.
  9. Philtenn, Obviously you know more about this team than I do. I knew that there was a core group of girls on this team with multiple State championships. I never mentioned a specific girl by name because I don't believe that one girl should ever single-handedly beat any team (although everyone on this board has seen that happen). Maybe you got my post mixed up with one of your own where you stated, "She (Jasmine James) put her team on her back (she scored half the team's points) and won it for them. On her own, she erased a 12 point deficit and she put the James team in the lead for the first time since the opening minutes with 2 minutes left on the clock in regulation. I'm sure her teammates are feeling very fortunate to have such a talent on their team." This is a direct quote of a post you made after a particularly hard-won game. Interestingly, I credited Briana (a girl you didn't even mention) with lighting the MENTAL spark that set Jasmine on fire! The point is that these girls have the experience (whether it be one, two, or three) of winning at States, and that creates high-expectations for themselves and their teammates. That type of attitude is infectious, and has proven so in the team's accomplishments thus far. And, of course, having JJ on the team won't hurt either. Good luck to all.
  10. What level of competition do you expect at the 14u level with States being held this weekend?
  11. Well, let's see: Rumble on the River (finals) National Scouting Report (NSR) Springdale (champions) Adidas - North Carolina Deep South Exposure (final four) West Tennessee Sub State Champions Memphis Super Regional Champions Runner-up in the 15Under division of the BCI State Tournament, losing only to the 15U AAU State Champs Arkansas Mavericks-Brown in the finals. Remember, this team has 3 previous state titles, taking 2nd last year under a different coach, I believe.
  12. I expect The Memphis Elite (James) will be the new state champs, with Pride 2nd. We shall see.
  13. Abby, please DO NOT give your team name or any other personal information to ANYONE on this site or any other! If a person could get your team name, they would probably be able to figure out exactly who you were, and that could be very dangerous. Most adults are well-meaning, but I'm sure you know that some are pretty bad too. I know you're smarter than that anyway!
  14. Abby, I'm sure your team is quite good if the young ladies have the same character that you do! Keep up the good work, and don't let anything said on this site (or any other) interfere with your development as a player or as a young lady. Good luck with the rest of your season! And let us old folks know how you're doing!
  15. Why would anyone who doesn't want to REhash, REexamine, REanalyze, REconsider, REplay, or RE anything else bother to subscribe to CoachT in the first place? If your obsession and fanatacism doesn't extend beyond the final buzzer, then why enter in among those of us who simply can't get enough? Sure there are a lot of parents who pressure their kids to perform well as if they could somehow relive a portion of their own lives. But most enthusiasts who post simply love the game and want to connect with like-minded individuals. Also, there are young people who post and read on the site, I believe Abby is one of them, so let's watch the language.
  16. You don't seem to understand that coaches don't "put girls on teams", parents decide for what team and which organization their daughter will play. All any coach can do is step up his/her recruitment efforts and then 1. accept a player who tries out , or 2. not accept a player who tries out.
  17. You're right with the exception that by this time the Elite-Daniels team only had two starters on the court. I also think we're examining the wrong game. Only a Tiger win against the Trotters would have produced an All Elite Championship. I'm curious about an analysis of what went wrong in THAT game.
  18. The flat out best team in Tennessee is the Memphis Lady Elite-Daniel's Team. They dominated the State tournament this weekend, their fourth championship of the season (Little Rock March Madness, Memphis Rumble on the River, Tennessee Miracle). EVERYONE slept on this one. Nice try Duuknowthagame, but your post was made AFTER you saw or heard about them play on Friday. Congratulations girls, coaches, and families for believing in this team's ultimate potential. Now, make the most of that #9 seed to Nationals.
  19. This was a great tournament with the exception of the officials. I watched many games and the officiating was lazy at best. No wonder, most of the officials had knee braces, were obese, or otherwise limped up and down the court causing them to be out of position for most calls. Any other insight?
